Chapter 51: The Alternate Lead Finale

(Hey everyone. I just wanted to give you a little filler here. The song up above was the original song I had planned for Chapter 49 to lead into the finale of this book. I just wanted to give you the taste of what it would have been like.)

Carrie watches as both Chloe and Raquel get dragged out of the ballroom by Norita and Ralph, putting on her jacket over her royal purple dress. She looked around at all the people that had gathered around for the party. Fellow toon friends, her family, and stagehands alike. Brain came up to her and stood in her hand. "Hey. We're sorry for how we have treated you and your family. Me and Pinky both." Carrie looks down at the two. "I'm sorry too for giving you guys a hard time like I did." Pinky grinned and then points to another mouse friend. "We got ourselves a new assistant for our adventures! Narf!!"

Carrie looked down at the small mouse with glasses and grinned. "Look at her, she is so precious." Melody blushed at the compliment and took off her red cat eye glasses. "Hi. I'm Melody ma'am. I bet you look as wonderful as you sound." Carrie noticed her grayed eyes. No pupils, Iris, anything. "Oh my.. Blindness is beauty. There's nothing to be ashamed about." She pets her and sets the three lab mice down and they went to the snack table to get what's left of the cheese.

Carrie looked over at everyone having a wonderful time at the party. She brought them all together, just like a hero would do. Someone had always told her to 'Never stop believing in yourself and those around you, you might do something big one day. Cause that's what a family does.' And she forgot who taught her those words. Not a single name came to her mind at all. Not one bit. She went to the table where Amelia, Daniel, and Cassandra were at and she sat down.

"Hey sweetheart. What's going on? Aren't you having a great time out here?" Cassandra asked her as Carrie nodded. "Oh yeah. I'm having a wonderful time. I've just been thinking about some words that I remember being taught about some time ago." She rested her head on the table and looked at the ceiling. Amelia herself was curious about these words and then asked her daughter. "What did this person say?" She asked her and Carrie simply stated "They told me 'To never stop believing in myself and the others around me. That I would do something big one day, cause that's what a family does.'" Carrie tells them. "All I remember was that it was on some form of paper."

Daniel then pulled something out of his pockets. "I forgot to give this to you. Somebody gave it to me while I was still an angel." He handed it over to Carrie and she looks at it. "What is it?" "It was an old photo of you as a child. There's a surprise inside." She opened up the photo and looks to see what was inside. It was of her when she was around 5 years old. Some of her hair in a side ponytail and the rest was down. "I remember always loving the Looney Tunes and the Muppets while growing up." Carrie chuckles, but then notices the same wording on the picture, and a noticeable signature on the bottom. Then she remembered.

(Flashback: 1984. Carrie is 5.)

Carrie was walking with her dad around New York City and enjoying the cityscapes with him. They ended up lost when they ended up at a random movie set. "Uh daddy? I think we're lost." She looked up at him as he looks at his map. "Huh, you're right. This place isn't on the map. We should probably leave to the Crown Prince Hotel before we get into trouble. I think we're trespassing." They turn to leave before some kids approach Carrie and greeted her. She just hides her face in her Raggedy Ann doll and then heard footsteps approach them and a gentle man's voice telling them "The way back to that hotel is that way."

"Ooohhhh!! I forgot that Follow That Bird was still filming. Sorry. I was just trying to show my daughter around the city here." Daniel tells the man as Carrie still hugged onto her dad and her doll as the man looks down at the small little girl wearing her Muppets shirt. "Isn't she adorable?" "Come on Carrie, don't be afraid to say hello." Daniel encouraged her and she just lets out a small wave. "She's just so shy. Her mother plagued her to never trust anyone around her. That dreams are always not going to happen." Carrie finally looked up and felt comfortable to show her face. The small blue eyes, the rosy cheeks.

"Hey, listen kid. Never stop believing in yourself and those around you, you might do something big one day. Cause that's what a family does." He pats her head and she lets out a huge grin, giggling. Daniel picked her up and sets her on her shoulders. "Alright. Let's go sweetheart." Carrie nodded and they walk away from the set and She waved goodbye to the man. "Thank you Mister." Daniel held onto her while they walk. "I have a feeling you'll be alright Carrie. Don't be afraid to take a chance.

(End)

Carrie just sat there surprised. She gives the photo back to her father and Norita and Ralph both came back in. "Hello there Ms. Norita, Hello there Ralph." Carrie greeted them and Norita crossed her arms. "We took care of the situation. Hey Carrie? I think this was one of your more brilliant ideas." Ralph nodded in agreement. "Yeah. Much thanks to yous." He tells her and she nodded her head. "I'm glad we could all come together. I feel a lot happier now because we're all working and my family and I have been reunited.. I couldn't ask for anything more out of life." She sat back and then sees three more faces come in through the doors.

Serafima, Eddie and Lucille showed up and came to the table. "Hey there kid. You did good.. You did good." Eddie shook Carrie's hand. "Why thank you, Detective." She giggled and he lets out a small laugh too. "Hey. What did we miss?" Serafima asked, watching everyone talking, dancing and having fun. "Nothing much. Can we all sing one final song for the night?" Carrie suggested and everyone at the table nodded. She went onto the stage and tapped her glass.

"Can I have everyone's attention for a moment? I just want to say thank you to everyone who came along to this extraordinary event. Our family has grown a lot. From friends.. family.. and let me take a minute to break the 4th wall here." She turns to face the audience. "And to you.. The person reading this. Thank you to all of you that have listened to my story over the time we have spent together. Laughing, crying.. everything."

The lights came back up as newer decorations filled the room. It was a spectacle of colors. Red, blue, all the colors of a rainbow. Soon enough, Carrie began walking down the stage as a melody began to play with it. "Why is it that we believe in true love?" She sang as Jessica joined her. "It's a part of what true love does." They give each other a friendly hug when Wakko smiles and pats her back. "It brings us memories."

"Sweet dreams and reminders. Of what we have all done.. With you." Yakko smiles and kisses Carrie's cheek and Carrie held onto him. She looks over as her mom, dad, Serafima, Eddie, and Lucille all sang together. "All of us wondering and hoping you'd find them!" Carrie then turned to the people in the screen. "And of course, it's all thanks to you.." She grinned as everyone began to join in song. "And now we've found it, a simple connection. Through family, believers and.." Everyone turned to see Dizzy Devil spinning out and knocking down a pillar which ended up making the entire scenery collapse. Sparks flew from the chandelier and then they stopped.

The clear glass ceiling from the ballroom was shown in full view of everyone that showed up to the party. The clouds had parted ways and the moon shined down on everyone. Some looked up and others gave out little bits of awws and oohs here and there. Carrie grinned and turned to the people once more to give one final message. "Life's like a story, write your own ending." Then she picked up her family in her arms and they joined her. "Keep believing, keep pretending!" And then everyone came together for the finale. "But for now, this story is all through! Thanks to those lovers.. Believers!! And you!!" They all stood under the moonlight and Porky looks to Lauren. "y-ye-y-yeah Lauren? You can say the-th-the-th the ending line." Lauren pulled down the rings and she says his line. "That's all folks!! Goodnight Everybody!"

Everyone began to clean up as Carrie, Yakko, Wakko, Dot, Lauren, Cassidy and Crakko sat in their actors chairs. "Well thank goodness that's over." Carrie sighs in relief. "The bill is going to come up quick." "Well we can't blame you. It was really nice to send off the series like this." Yakko grinned and rubbed her back. Crakko looked up at his mom and asked. "Songbook updates soon?" Carrie nodded. "Yes. They're going to be coming soon." Lauren filed her nails, looking at them every so often.

"I'm going to get a coffee. You coming Wakko?" Dot asked and Wakko shakes his head. "Nah. I got a date with MacKenzie." Cassidy cleared her throat and looked to him, speaking in an adult British accent. "Since when do you NOT have a date with her?" She joked around as he got up. "I'll be back tonight." He left and then Carrie looked up at the moon. "Well now what? With the songbook in place I don't know what else to bring this story to." Yakko, Lauren and Crakko began to think about some ideas as Cassidy looked up at her mother. "I'm sure you'll think of some ideas mom. Hey. Let's show one of your tower ending gags from the past. For old times sake." She pulled down the screen again and it shows the water tower.

The first tower gag began to play through. It was of her in her movie premiere outfit. The tower door opened and Yakko and Wakko had clinged onto her like children with hearts in their eyes. Carrie laughed and looked at the screen. "They'll get off eventually." Before the tower door closed again

"Okay okay, maybe one more." Carrie spoke and watched it rewind. This one was of her in the shower. The tower door opened to her behind the shower curtain and she peeks her head from the top. She glared at the audience and said with a stern tone "A little privacy here, if you don't mind." Before she shuts the tower door once again
