Chapter 31: Journey Back to The Studio

(in an interview at the Anywhere But Burbank pilot Gala.)

"Say Carrie, was there any more scrapped songs that you thought could have made it through?" One other person asked her in the panel and Carrie began to think about it. "Now that you mention it, yeah. This one was a cover of Journey to the Past for the end of Chapter 1 to Take Me Back to Burbank when we were all up and leaving back to the studios. I stop halfway and tell the siblings and my daughter I would catch up to them. And then the song would begin to play through." The crew pulled out some old song sheets and Yakko displays it on the screen. "Like this." They began to imagine what that would be like.

(In the scene.)

"Come on Carrie, please come back with us. The reboot wouldn't be the same without you in it." Dot pleads with the older Carrie as Yakko nodded in agreement. "Yes, my sweet. I don't think anything would be the same without you with us." He gave her a very cute face before Carrie caved in and finally made an agreement. "Alright, alright. Me and Lauren will come back." The three of them cheer and together, they all share a big big hug. Carrie called up the movers telling them she wants to sell the house and they all began packing up the contents.

Lauren in the meanwhile, called the Morty Viper gang and telling them that the two were respectfully resigning from their positions as performers. Morty Viper felt saddened by this departure but understanding. "We get it. You're moving onto bigger things. Come by this weekend for a departure party. We'd love it if you were there." Lauren nodded while ending the call. Then the 5 all finish packing the place as they began to head down the mountain.

Carrie stopped when they were halfway to the studios and Lauren looks at her. "Mom, are you coming?" Carrie looked at her daughter and nodded. "Yeah. I'm fine, I'm just a little bit tired. I'll catch up with you guys. I know where to go." Lauren nodded and hugged her. "Ok momma. We'll meet you at the water tower to unpack." She headed down the mountain and Carrie leaned against a tree. She looked at a stray dog, barking at her side and a blustery wind chill her.

"Heart, don't fail me now! Courage, don't desert me! Don't turn back now that we're here." She walked slowly, the snow crunching below her shoes. "People always say, 'Life is full of choices.' No one ever mentions fear! Or how the world can seem so vast On a journey ... to the past." Carrie throws some snow into the air as she sang to herself and the dog catches it in its mouth. She felt another burst of energy and started running again. For what felt like forever, she felt.. happy. The stray dog ran with her.

"Somewhere down this road, I know this contract's waiting. Years of dreams just can't be wrong!" Carrie splashes into a small frozen puddle, as she wraps her arms around herself and cracking the ice. She stared down at her reflection in what was left of the puddle, the ripples messing around with her own reflection. "Arms will open wide. I'll be safe and wanted! Finally back, where I belong. Well, starting now, I'm learning fast! On this journey to the past."

Carrie gave the stray a cute sweater, some food and water so they can survive these trying times. She continued onward as she jogged until her feet would stop her. As soon as she got on the streets, she heads for the studios and after a little bit, she finally reaches the entrance. Ralph greets her with a "Duh, good to meet'cha agains, Carrie." Carrie bowed before she approached the water tower slowly. Finally, it was good to finally be home.

"Home, Love, Family. The one and only time that I should keep this too.." Carrie waved to some fans, happy to see her back. "Home, Love, Family, Now I am complete, because I sure have found you!" Carrie immediately had a huge grin on her face as she strutted towards the tall water tower. Her arms grabbed the ladder and began to climb the water tower again. One little breath after another, it was another step to finding her new place with them once more.

"One step at a time, One hope, then another.. Who knows where this road may go?" Her free hand takes off her hat and her hair blows in the wind. "Back to who I was, Now to find my new future. Things my heart still needs to know!" She kicks the snow off the balcony circle. "Yes! Please let this be a sign! Oh, Let this road be mine! Let it lead me to my past, And bring me home... At last!" She sang once more as she walked through the water tower door and shuts the thing behind her. Back home.. Back with everyone that she had ever loved like her family.
