Heaven

"Thanks for the phone, unc" I thanked him again as we drove

He brought me an iPhone 6s Plus. It was bigger than my head, but he wanted to make sure I had the best.

"No problem, sugafoot. I still can't believe you ain't have a phone" he kept his eyes on the road

"I never really stressed about one" I shrugged, lying

I've always wanted a phone, even if it was flip phone I would've been satisfied. My dad wanted to make sure we never called anyone, he wanted to keep us under his ruling.

"You're the only kid in this generation I know that's ever said that" he chuckled

"I'm nothing like this generation, I just live in it" I smirked

I saw that quote as I was scrolling through the "trending" section on my very first Instagram.

"Only had a phone for an hour and already quoting quotes" he shook his head, laughing

"You can't lie, it was a right on time" I laughed along

Our laughing died down and we rode in comfortable silence for a few.

"Tell me something" he said

"Yes sir?" I looked up at him

"Why ya mama don't have a phone neither?" he pulled in front of the house

"S-She...she h-had one but it-it broke so she didn't b-bother getting a-another one" I tried to lie without stuttering

"Really?" he asked

"Y-Yes" I nodded quickly, the phone shaking in my trembling hands

"Alright. Let me help you with these bags" he smiled, getting out the car

I sighed and followed, getting half of my shopping bags. On top of a new phone he brought me over 50 new outfits. I not only loved my uncle because he brought me anything I asked for, but I loved him because he actually loved me like his own.

"We're back" he announced as we entered the house

"You two have been gone the whole day" my mother wiped her hands

"It takes time to ball out. Tell her, sugafoot" uncle Steve popped his collar

"What he said" I laughed and sat my bags on the table

I heard a dinging noise and looked around the kitchen.

"Ya hotline blinging already" uncle Steve said

"Yeah. From Verizon: We're so glad you joined our company!" I chuckled as I read the message

"Who got you that?" My mother folded her arms, glaring at the phone in my hands

"He did" I said quietly

"Steven why'd you buy her that? It looks expensive and her father will be upset"

"James can be upset all he wants to. My baby girl deserves it." He fanned my mother off

"Take everything back tomorrow" she argued

"I got you something" I went in my bag

"I don't want no-"

Her eyes lit up once she saw the sparkling diamond necklace, the color of her birthstone, in my hands.

"Can I keep everything ?" I smiled with hope

"Make sure ya daddy don't see it" she nodded

"Thanks mommy" I pecked her cheek, grabbing my bags and taking them upstairs

-Monday Morning

"Your uncle is nice as fuck" Keyona said after we got out his car

"Yeah" I smiled

"He cute too" she smirked

"He's in his forties, Key." I squinted at her

"Age ain't nothing but a number" she raised her hands in surrender

"You need prayer" I chuckled and shook my head

"Don't we all" she giggled "Wassup with you and Christopher? Y'all ain't been talking for like a week" she continued

"We talk" I shrugged, going in my locker

"Well why he don't sit at lunch with you no more?" she asked

"Weren't you the one who didn't want him sitting with us in the first place? And stop with all the questions" I rolled my eyes

"Well my fuckin' bad" she scoffed

I didn't mean to be so rude, I just didn't want to talk about it.

"I gotta get to class. See ya" she walked off

I sighed, closing my locker

"Wassup beautiful" his smile appeared as o fully closed my locker

"H-Hi Elijah" I greeted him

"My schedule was changed this morning" he said as we walked

"Oh cool..." I said

"Yup. I have lunch and last block with you now" he smiled

"Oh really? Cool" I nodded

"Well, I'll see you at lunch. I want a seat right next to you" we stopped in front of my class

"S-Sure. Thanks for walking me" I nodded

He winked at me before walking off. Elijah's very attractive, he just seems a little pushy.

-3rd bell

"Thanks for walking me" I said to Elijah again

"I know I've only known you for a week but, I was wondering if I could take you out sometime" he asked

"I-I gotta get in class...I'll l-let you know" I hurried into class

He's moves to fast for me.

"Alright class settle down" Ms. Brooks said

The class slowly got quiet as she started her announcement.

"I've decided to extend the due date of this project. The semester will be ending shortly so the project will be your final grade." she said

Some groans could be heard throughout the classroom. I groaned too, but mentally. This means I had to have more awkward conversations with Christopher.

"Now partner up" she said before sitting back at her computer

Christopher was sitting across the class, at his desk. I didn't want to get up, so I stayed out as well. He usually comes over to me

"Miss Barnes, is there a problem?" Ms. Brooks asked

"N-No ma'am" I answered

"Then why aren't you partnered up?"

"S-Sorry" I stood up, slowly walking over to Christopher's desk

I pulled up a chair and sat down.

"Hi" I said quietly

He pulled out his phone, ignoring me.

"Christopher, she might see your p-phone" I said

"So?" he responded dryly

"Y-You...you shouldn't have your phone out in c-class"

"Don't worry 'bout what the fuck I do. Aight? Go back over there in ya lil corner and do what you do best, which is keeping ya mouth shut" he grumbled

"What? Where is this coming from? I-I thought we were...we were friends" I talked quietly in disbelief

"Friends? Psh" he shook his head

"W-What's that supposed to mean?" I felt my eyes getting watery

"I don't like you. We not friends, we not nothing." his jaw clenched

My jaw dropped as I got up from his desk.

"May I go to the restroom?" I asked Ms. Brooks

"Make it fast" she said

I quickly walked out the door. I couldn't make it to the bathroom before I broke down crying in the hall.

How could he be so mean? What did I ever do?

This chapter sucks 🙄

Leave feedback though 😊
