"I-I'm sorry" I looked up and spotted a handsome young man

"No, I should've been paying attention. I'm sorry" the boy smiled

The lunch bell rang, signaling lunch was over.

"I gotta-gotta get to c-class"

"Let me walk you" he stood in front of the door

"W-Why?" I asked

"It would be the gentleman like thing to do." He smirked

"I-I guess." I shrugged

"Heaven!" someone called

I turned around and seen Keyona walking towards me with my book bag.

"Did you get lost?" she asked sarcastically

"Chantelle was in there and I'll tell you the rest later" I said

"Oh alright. Well here is your bag and who's this?" she smirked, folding her arms

"Uhm..." I trailed off, not knowing his name

"Elijah" the boy answered

"What you doing with my best friend, Elijah?" Keyona asked

"Just about to walk her to class" he shrugged

"Mhm. Well, get her there before she's late" she shooed us

"What you got for last block?" He asked as we walked

"Art. I-It's down this hall" I fixed my bag on my back

"So, your name's Heaven huh?" he asked

"Y-Yeah...I like the name Elijah by the way"

"Thanks, beautiful" he smiled

We turned the hall and I seen Christopher and Chantelle leaning against the wall.

"Move Chan, you stink" he pushed her off him

"Baby just talk to me" she whined

"Get the fuck off me" he pushed her off again

"Skip last block with me" she went back

"I said-" his words cut off once I came into his view

I looked at him from the corner of my eye as I passed. I seen his jaw clench as his eyes followed me.

"Well, we're here" Elijah stated

"T-Thanks for walking me" I looked at the ground

"No problem. I know we literally just met and all, but can I have your number?" Elijah asked

"I-uh...I gotta get in class. Thanks again" I said before walking into class

Art was weird, every time I looked up I caught Christopher's eyes on me, and when he saw me look his way he'd look away.

"You ready to go?" Keyona asked as I met up with her

"Yeah."

"So dish it about Chantelle" she said soon as we exited the building

"She came into the bathroom while I was in there and started telling me to stay away from Christopher" I started

"Nobody calls him Christopher but you" she chuckled

"You wanna know the story or not?" I squinted

I've grown closer to Keyona, I'm comfortable with her now, and I trust her. She's like a sister to me.

"Continue" she nodded

"I told her she needs to stay away from me and shook my wet hands on her-"

"You did what? Lil Heav shook water on somebody?" She acted shocked

"Can I finish please?"

"Go on, lil badass" she said sarcastically

"After I did that, she slammed me against the wall and told me to know my place, stay away from Christopher, and how she runs everything" I fanned my hand

"Oooh and what you do?"

"I told her that her pussy wasn't the only thing that smelled unpleasant" I said shyly

"Ooooh!!" she carried on

"Really?" I asked rhetorically

"Wait why you tell her that?" She stopped laughing and looked confused

"Because she came into the bathroom saying her pussy smelled unpleasant."

"What the fuck" she laughed

"And she tried to blame it on the weather" I giggled, covering my smile

"Dead" she laughed as we approached our street

I sped up and she grabbed my arm

"You do this every time we reach this street." she smacked her teeth

"What?" I asked

"Speed up" she answered

"I'm just excited to get home" I lied

"Mhm. Well, see you in the morning" she said as we reached my house

"Yeah. See ya" I looked in the driveway, seeing my dad's truck

I mentally prayed he didn't see me walking with her and entered the house.

"Who's that girl?" He asked as I entered

"W-What g-girl?" I closed the door

"Don't play with me. Why didn't you tell her to come in?" he smiled

Has he gone crazy? He's the one who said I couldn't have any friends.

"Hey, sugafoot" I heard a familiar voice

I turned around to see my uncle Steve. A smile instantly appeared on my face.

That's why he's acting so nice. He's such a punk.

My uncle Steve is a drug dealer standing at 6ft 7in, weighing about 220 in muscle. He's my mother's brother and she's not only his only sister, but his baby sister, so he don't play about nothing when it comes to her or me. He don't take no mess from nobody and everybody knows it, especially my dad.

"What're you doing here?" I ran and hugged him

"Well, it's the holiday season and I thought why not come visit my best niece" my uncle said

"I'm your only niece" I chuckled

"Same thing" he waved me off  "How's school?" he asked

"You know you have no life when people start asking that question" I joked

"Hush up and answer my question" he laughed

"School is good" I nodded

"Any lil niggas tryna' talk to ya?" he leaned down to my height

"No sir" I giggled

"Mhm. I'll find out"

"What you mean?" I asked

"Long as I'm here I'll be driving you to school, so I'll have a chance to lurk" he smiled

"But your car isn't in the driveway" I stated

"It's down the street. I wanted to surprise you"

"Well she's definitely surprised. Head upstairs and start your homework sweetie" my mother smiled

This was the biggest I've seen her smile in a long time. Maybe because she knew that for a while we wouldn't be getting beat.

"Yes ma'am." I headed to the stairs

I decided to have fun with this

"Dad, can I go to the mall tomorrow?" I smirked

"I-I don't get paid 'til next week" he lied, wanting to say something else

By the look in his eyes I could tell he wanted to hit me, but he wouldn't dare risk his own pathetic life.

"That's sad, can't even lend ya own daughter money" Uncle Steve shook his head, pulling out a wad of money

He handed me 300 dollars and mugged my dad.

"How long you staying?" I asked

"The whole November and December" he answered smiling

Wow. Two whole months! I'm definitely gonna enjoy this, my dad will be like putty in my hand.

I smiled back before heading upstairs.
