Saturday- 7:25am

I groaned as I slowly opened my eyes, my head was throbbing. I began to sit up, noticing the IV in my arm.

I'm in the hospital

I pressed the "doctor call button" and waited.

"Good morning, Miss Barnes" the doctor smiled, walking in

"Morning?" I questioned

"Yes ma'am. By the way, I'm Dr. James" she said

"What happened to me?" I asked

"Besides the fact that you took a pretty nasty fall, you were drugged." she explained

"Drugged?" my eyes widened

"Yes. Do you know what GHB is?" she slipped her gloves on

"I've heard of it...isn't that known as a date rape drug?"

"Yes, but we checked your entire body throughly and there are no signs of sexual activity" she seemed got a thermometer

"Hm...the last thing I remember is going to a party with my boyfriend. I don't even remember drinking anything" I shook my head

"A side effect from GHB is slight amnesia. You definitely drunk something, you just don't remember" she checked my vitals

"Where's my boyfriend?" I asked

"That's the only person you think about?" Uncle Steve stood in the doorway

"Your vitals are good. I'll leave you two alone" the doctor said

"When will I be able to go home?" I asked

"We're going to keep you overnight just to make sure everything is ok." she tossed her gloves in the trash

"Ok thanks" I smiled

She exited, leaving me and Uncle Steve alone. He stood there smiling at me, with tears filling up in his eyes.

"I'm so glad you ok" he finally spoke

"Don't cry, you gonna make me cry, then we gonna be all teary eyed" I softly chuckled

"My heart stopped when I got a call saying you were in the hospital, and it didn't help when they said someone slipped you a date rape drug." he shook his head "I'm just thankful that you didn't get harmed."

"I'm thankful for that too." I nodded "And to also have an amazing uncle like you" I smiled

"Just be my daughter already" he joked

"That's fine by me" I chuckled

We're joking and all but he's actually like a father to me...more than my real father ever was.

"Uncle Steve, what did you do with my parents?" I asked

Now seemed like an ok time to ask

"Sugafoot, when the time is right I'll tell you. I don't want you to be worrying about anything negative. Understand?"

"Yeah." I nodded "I know you only doing the best for me, big head" I pat his head

"Big head? Yo head is colossal and I think it's swelling" he talked with his hands

"At least all my hair on my colossal sized head ain't grey." I smacked my lips

"I think I need to buy you some razors to get that goatee" he rubbed my chin

"Maaaan you better go somewhere with yo' ole' buttermilk, milk dud, scoomp doomp-"
I started

"Hey" Chris's voice spoke quietly

My and my uncle turned our attention to the door.

"Hey babe" I smiled

"Let me talk to you for a second" uncle Steve said to Chris "We'll be right back, sugafoot" he said to me

He looked at me intensely, clenching his jaw. His face held anger and disappointment. I looked down at the floor as I waited for him to speak.

"You let her get drugged" he stated

"I'm sorry" I sighed

"That's my niece, I love her like my own, and you let her get drugged. She could've gotten seriously hurt." he glared at me

"I know...I shouldn't have let her out of my sight." I felt worse than what I did

"I should beat yo' ass for just slipping up" he said

I stayed quiet.

"But instead, I wanna thank you" his face softened

"Huh?" I tilted my head

"Your the one who drove her here when the ambulance was taking to long, you acted quick, and you made it your mission to make sure she got here and got checked out. I appreciate that man." he nodded

"Really?" I smiled

"Yeah. You could've waited for the ambulance and all. But you made her your first priority, you don't play when it comes to her. Any man who gone put my niece before anything else and make sure she's alright, definitely got my respect."

"Thanks Steve" I dapped him up

"No problem. None of what happened was in your control, I can't get pissed about that anyway" he chuckled and shrugged

Then I felt bad all over again. If I would've set Keyona straight, told Heaven what had happened, and not went to that party at all, Heaven wouldn't even be in this predicament.

"You aight youngin?" he asked

"Yeah I'm good." I cleared my throat

"Cool. Well I'm heading home" he said

"Ok." I said before going in the room with Heaven

Seeing her, sitting in that bed, smiling, happy to see me made me question myself

How can a person that got drugged by their "best friend" be so happy? She must not remember anything that happened.

"Come here" she scooted over in the bed

I got in the bed beside her, hanging my leg off the side. I wrapped my arms around her, pecking her forehead.

"I'm so glad you're ok" I said

"Yeah but I hate that I remember everything else except for what happened at that time. I wanna know who slipped a drug in my drink." she snuggled into my chest

"Maybe you picked up the wrong cup" I suggested

I feel bad for not telling her who drugged her drink. But if I tell her who did it, then I have to tell her why...and I can't risk losing her.

"No...no. I remember I was sitting over there with you and Keyona came-"

"Don't try to think about it right now. Get some rest." I quickly said

"Fine" she sighed "Can I have a kiss first?" she looked up at me

"You been throwing up?" I asked

"Nope" she smiled

"Then lay 'em on me, baby" I smirked before she kissed me

"Chris...I love you" she looked into my eyes after pulling away

My heart sped up. I knew I loved her, I've jus been afraid to say it, now I'm even more afraid.

"You don't have to say it back. I just wanted you to know how I feel about you" she sighed as a hint of hurt flashed across her face

"I love you too" I said back

"You're just saying it now because you feel pressured to. It's ok" she shrugged

"No I'm not. I love you and I've loved you for some time now" I had to let her know I was being honest about my feelings

"Really? How long?" her face brightened up

"About a month now" I answered

"And you waited this long" she nudged me

"I ain't wanna look like a fool" I shrugged

"You wouldn't have because I felt the same way about 2 months ago" she chuckled

"You shoulda told me first then" I laughed

"Eh...Time doesn't matter. Just know that I love you" she put her leg over mine

"I love you too" I pecked her lips

I couldn't wait 😋
