December 19th, 2017

"Scoot your ass over, Martin" Indi said pushing the girl with her elbow as she tried laying down in the twin sized bed.

"If I move any further I'm gonna fall off" the senior laughed moving her body so that Indigo could lay down beside her and get a better look at the tv screen.

"I can't wait for my full size bed to come in because then you won't be hogging the bed" the brunette smiled looking up at Kate, whose head was laid against the wall behind them.

"I am not the one who hogs" Kate rolled her eyes as she sucked her teeth sitting up in the bed.

"I love how you lie" the junior giggled, "Ok sh sh sh, it's my favorite part!" Indi smiled pressing her finger to Kate's lips as Ariel showed Ren around the abandoned place that had been nicknamed 'Yearbook', showcasing quotes from movies, magazines, and books that had been banned in the town, until she got to the poem she had wrote and read it out loud to the boy.

Footloose had always held a special place in the girls heart. It was the first movie her and Kate had stayed up past their bedtime to watch when they were in the third grade. Indigo had to steal it out of the DVD case binder that her parents kept in the living room, but the movies towards the back were only for her parents to watch, but would be available for when the two Aro girls grew up.

"I want something like them" Indigo's voice was quiet as she spoke, but still loud enough for the blonde to hear.

"Well I heard Don's asking you to prom, so who knows maybe you'll get something like them" Kate shrugged. Deep down she knew about her crush on the girl who sat beside her, and all she wanted to do was take her as her date to prom. But Kate also knew that Indigo didn't like girls in the same way that she did, so she had to push those feelings away.

"Oh" the brunettes voice was low as she nodded her head. "I don't know if I wanna go with him" her eyes were still glued to the tv screen as she spoke.

"Well then who do you wanna go with?" Kate's voice was laced with curiosity as she sat up in the bed, her full back now leaning against the wall. she

"I doubt they'd ever ask me so it don't matter" Indi pushed herself up so that she was against the wall too.

"Who's the liar now" Kate raised her eyebrows looking down at Indi.

"I'm no liar!" the girl raised her hands in defense.

"Every guy, literally, every guy likes you" Kate laughed.

"Well too bad I don't like any of them" she giggled turning her body so that she was sitting against the window and looking at Kate.

"There's gotta be at least one you like" Kate crossed her legs as she looked at the girl sitting across from her.

"Nope" the girl just shook her head holding in a small smile on her face.

"Really?" Kate's voice was shocked.

Indigo took in a deep breath as she thought about the next words she was going to say, she didn't think that Kate would be grossed out or anything, but that didn't stop her from being scared.

"I don't think I really like any guys" the girl confessed bringing her knees into her chest. She pulled her knees inside the basketball sweatshirt that she had stolen from Kate. She didn't even realize that she was holding her breath.

"Oh" Kate responded nodding her head, though on the inside she was completely freaking out as she had a small hope that maybe the girl she had loved since the first time they played hop scotch also liked her back.

"Sorry, um did I make things awkward" Indi tucked her hair behind her ear as she began to fiddle with the skin of her nails. "Just forget I said anything" the girl let out an awkward laugh pulling the hood over the hoodie over her head.

"No, no, no!" the girl reassured grabbing her hand, she hadn't realized that she had stayed quiet for so long. "That's cool, really cool" Kate nodded her head. "Me too" she confessed and she was now the one to sit scared at the others reaction.

"I guess we should kiss now" Indigo laughed trying to make a joke, "Sorry"

"Yeah right" Kate laughed but her heart was beating out of her chest at the words Indigo spoke. "Cause we're both gay, so yeah" Kate nodded adding to the joke, her hand tucking some hair behind her ear.

There was a slight awkward tension between the two before they settled into watching the movie again, they weren't their usual closeness though.

Even though they both had crushes on the other, they were too scared to say anything or act on it. They didn't want everyone around them to be right about them. Everyone always thought they would end up together, even if no one knew they were gay.

But there was also a sense of being scared that the other didn't like them back. And they would never want to ruin their friendship over something so silly.
