Flight from Iowa to Oregon
Now boarding
It was currently November 24th when the Iowa players and the senior and junior cheerleaders and dancers were boarding the plane for the Phil Knight Legacy College tournament in Oregon. All the girls were tired as their coaches made them board the plane as early as possible so they would have some of the day to themselves before holding practices.
Everyone was currently slinging their bags into the overhead bins as they looked for places to sit down, Indi turned to Ysa, who had already found her seat beside Caitlin, giving her puppy dog eyes, "Nuh-uh I am not sitting beside your ass for five hours" the blonde laughed making Indigo roll her eyes before slouching down in the chair closest to her.
She pulled out her phone and Airpods clicking onto a playlist that she had downloaded offline, so she would have music to listen to as she read her book. Though as she was getting situated a certain blonde walked over to her and stood in front of her, poking the top of her head causing her to look up, "Can I sit with you?" she asked with a smile tugging at her lips. Even though Kate was exhausted she always found it in herself to be kind to everyone.
"You sure you wanna? Ysa was begging to sit with Caitlin to get away from me" Indi giggled holding one of her airpods in her head and looking up at Kate. Kate's arm was rested against the overhead bins as she looked down at her, what Kate didn't know though was that the way she was looking at the raven-haired girl made her stomach do backflips.
"Positive" Kate smiled before getting into the row and sitting down beside Indigo. Kate was quick to notice Indi's shaky hand as she clicked the buttons on her phone. "Still scared of planes?" she questioned drawing her attention to the girl's hand.
"I don't think there will ever be a time I'm not terrified of being in a thousand-pound tin that somehow goes through the air" Indi laughed as she turned herself to Kate. She removed the armrest so that it was hitting both of their sides. "So, if you ever catch me on a flight willingly...something is very wrong"
"Trust me, I know" Kate laughed, "Remember when you went with my family on a trip and I had to hold your hand that entire flight? You were so scared we were gonna crash in the ocean, and we weren't even going over it!"
"What if we made a detour to the ocean? Hm? We could've and then it would have been a very plausible fear" Indigo said defending her past self.
"Whatever dude" Kate shook her head still holding a small grin on her face. "Am I gonna need to hold your hand for these five hours?" the blonde asked sarcastically.
"Hmmm," Indi put her hand on her chin as if she were deep in thought, "Maybe."
Kate opened her mouth but was interrupted by the pilot coming onto the speakers to go over instructions on life vests as well as the whole put your face mask on before helping someone else.
As Indigo watched the flight attendants in front of her, she could feel her heartbeat increase and it suddenly became all too real. She felt her eyes paying close attention to every single step they performed, as most others ignored the instructions and were on their phones. Her leg began to bounce up and down in anticipation of the flight, already wanting it to be over with. Her hand reached for the gold cross necklace she wore every single day as she tried to calm herself.
She then felt a warm hand reach hers, bringing it away from the necklace. Kate interlaced their fingers rubbing the girl's knuckles, "Hey, hey, it's ok" her voice laced with trust. Indigo couldn't get any words out, so she just nodded her head. "Breath with me, it's gonna be alright" Her voice was soft as she spoke, the blonde then had them both take deep breaths in and out until Indigo was steady again.
"Sorry," Indi apologized, her voice smaller than she meant for it to be.
"You have nothing to apologize for" Kate reassured her, still holding her hand and moving her thumb in circular motions. "Everyone's scared of something" She smiled that warm smile that always took up her face, the one that could make every dark cloud disappear from the sky. Indigo smiled back with her lips closed before she let her head rest on the headrest. Though out of the corner of her eye, she could see Kate slip her phone out and text an unfamiliar name about how they were about to take off.
The dark-haired girl ignored it as she already had so many other things happening in her head and she wasn't in the mood to deal with anything else concerning her besides getting off this death trap alive.

As the flight was making its way towards its end, Indigo woke up with her head resting on Kate's shoulder with their fingers still intertwined. Her arm had somehow found its way to be wrapped around Kate's arm, practically snuggling up as close as she could to her.
"Oh sorry" the girl said detaching herself from Kate and leaning back in her own chair.
"We really gotta get you to stop apologizing for everything" Kate laughed putting her phone away so she could look at the girl beside her.
Even though she had just woken up, baring no makeup as well as having a star pimple patch on her cheek, she was still so beautiful to Kate.
"How much longer is it?" Indi yawned stretching her legs out in front of her.
"An hour" Kate replied, still having her eyes glued to the girl beside her. Indigo nodded her head as she blinked her eyes several times trying to stay awake. "Ya know, I never asked how your date went" the blondes voice had some jealousy lingering in it, but it was very oblivious to Indigo.
The girl just gave her a glare before shaking her head, "Bad" was all she said with a little laugh following. "I mean her friends came over and she practically ignored me and then when she got up to get us drinks, her friends kept asking me to set them up with you and Cait" Indigo just rolled her eyes and crossed her arms at the thought of the tragic event, called a date.
"Were they cute?" Kate teased, but kept a serious expression on her face, which made Indigo smack her arm and shake her head. "Ok, ok, I'll stop" she said putting her hands up like she was surrendering.
"Trust me, they weren't good enough for you" Indigo sighed before leaning back on her headrest closing her eyes for a moment.
