2: How It Stands
He was too angry to take the fan home with him tonight. Or maybe it was too drunk. He and the team had decided to go out for drinks after the noodlery. One beer... then another, another, something stronger and finally something even stronger. He was amazed he made it home. Normally when he was this drunk, he passed out where ever and woke up at home. It was a strange... devotion.
So when he stumbled into his house, he decided to rub it in. Deeply.
"I 'n't need ya help!" His swamp accent fell easily from his mouth. It had taken years to lose and only a handful of drinks to get back. "Giddown here! 'Ey! 'EEEEY!"
"What in tarnation do ya need?!" You screamed from your bedroom as you arose from your slumber. "Ya made it home, go the fuck ta sleep!"
"YNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!" He screeched again.
"Fuck!" You yelled back and began walking downstairs. "What in the hell ya need?!"
"I said I ain't need yaaa." Tahno slurred. "I dun fuckin' need ya..."
You rolled your sleepy eyes.
"Yeah, yeah." You walked up to him. You were happy, at least, that you didn't have to go out searching for him. He only made it home once in a blue moon when he was drunk like this.
"I wanted ta fuck this thick gal, she 'minded me of da'swamp." He grumbled lowly. "But I kep' thinkin' a you."
"Sorry ta interrupt ya plans." You grabbed him by the shirt collar and began dragging him upstairs.
"You ain't come..." He groaned and tried to fight against you. "Why? Busy fuckin'?"
Normally you ignored him, but you were awfully grumpy from being woken up.
"Nah, that's your plans, not mine muthafucka." You growled.
"We won it. Goin' to da finals..." He mumbled back, fight taken out of him.
"...Congratulations, Tahno. I'm happy for ya." You sighed, acknowledging the deescalation.
"You ain't ever call me Tahn anymo'." He whined as he fell on the bed.
"We ain't close like that anymo'."
"Whose fault's that?"
"Yours."
You laid down on the bed as you heard him groan.
"Don't even think 'bout pukin' on the bed. I ain't cleanin' it up again." You mumbled as you crawled under the covers. Suddenly, you felt a familiar warmth.
"'Aight, wolfbat." His liquored breath brushed against your ear as his arms wrapped around your blanketed body.
At first, you tensed up. But eventually, your body relaxed and you felt comforted by the steady breathing next to you-- even if it occasionally let out a frosty ice breath.
You weren't sure when it all changed. It had been about a year since it had all fallen apart. Although the two years since you had permanently moved to Republic City before this year weren't great by any means. It was hard to live away from home with a guy who wanted nothing to do with where you had both grown up. The drinking, promiscuity and fights were wearing you down. If you hadn't grown up together... if you didn't know that your Tahn was still there... you would have been long gone. And lately, you were closer than ever to packing up and leaving.
