CHAPTER TWENTY!

"You know the world can see us in a way that's different than who we are." Eliza and Ricky finished. Eliza smiled up at Ricky, they both had a microphone in their hand as props, and their other hands were entwined. Eliza mouthed 'Good job,' before walking off the set. Ricky walked the other way as they rehearsed.

Eliza and Ricky waited for their cue to join the curtain call. "You look great," Ricky complimented.

"You don't look too bad yourself," Eliza stated, as EJ finished his Chad curtain call. "Come on, let's go." She led Ricky to center stage as the band kept playing.

They both walked up and did a bow. Ricky didn't let go of her hand, until he spun her around letting Eliza have her own little moment. Just like Troy did for Gabriella in the final movie.

Nini ran off and grabbed a tray with an apple, and Gina ran the other way to get Miss Jenn.

"You know what to say," Nini told Miss Jenn.

"Is that the last apple?" Miss Jenn said, and the theater kids cheered for her as she said her line that had been cut out of the original movie.

"This is kinda the best," Ricky smiled. His hand found Eliza's after her bow and never left hers.

"Oh, honey, wait till you see what I picked for the spring musical," Miss Jenn responded.

With everyone holding hands, they rushed up to the front and did a final bow together and the confetti fell. Everyone broke apart and started hugging each other. Ricky grabbed Eliza by her waist and kissed her in front of the audience— and didn't care who saw. Eliza didn't either and kissed him back.

"So, who are the flowers for?" Seb asked as everyone gathered around the dressing room.

"Everybody hold, we got a card, people!" Carlos opened the card, "To Ashlyn, because you get me."

"EJ! Really?" Ashlyn gushed.

"I didn't write that," EJ snorted.

"I did," Big Red said as he stood up.

"Okay, if you guys stay in here any longer, your parents are gonna riot in the lobby," Kourtney announced.

"I'll meet you out there?" Eliza asked Ricky, he nodded. Her backpack was already packed with her stuff, and she was ready to leave.

When she met her family in the lobby, they all hugged her and congratulated her.

"When did you and Ricky become so close?" Mrs Parks asked her daughter. "You know now whenever he comes over, doors are to stay open."

"Mom, we're— okay, fine," Eliza said, and she froze when she saw the Dean of the Youth Actor's Conservatory walk up.

"Eliza," the Dean smiled. "Hi, I'm Dean Kalyani Patel from the—"

"Youth Actor's Conservatory. I know who you are, it's a pleasure to meet you," Eliza smiled back.

"Pleasure's all mine. Eliza, you have talent. And I think the Conservatory can help you grow your talent."

"Oh my god, really?"

"Yes. I'd like to offer you a spot starting next month—"

"Um, my friend, Nini," Eliza interrupted. "She's— she also applied to the school."

"Unfortunately, we only have a spot for one of you. You both are incredibly talented, but we'd like to offer you the—"

"Nini's far more talented than I am. She writes songs, sings, acts, she plays piano and the ukelele. I can only act and yeah. If you offer anyone a spot, it should be Nini," Eliza stated. "She deserves it more than I do."

"Here's my card if you change your mind— if you don't, you can reapply next fall, which I hope you do."

"Of course, thank you, Dean Patel," Eliza smiled.

"I saw you talking to the teacher chick— did she offer you a spot?" Ricky questioned as they walked to the entrance of the school. "She'd be stupid not to. You're insanely talented."

"The school's in Denver," Eliza admitted. She pulled the card out of her pocket, and showed Ricky the card that the dean had given her.

"Colorado, that's— that's cool."

"She did offer me a spot," Eliza said. "But I told her to give it to Nini. Nini deserves it more."

"That's— why did you do that?" Ricky asked.

"Because the school's in Denver, and I know we haven't put a word to whatever we are yet, but I'm not leaving you."

"You're not going to resent me for being the reason you declined that spot?"

"No, I'm not. You're— you are the boy I've liked for years and never thought would look at me the way I looked at him. And I looked the school up and it's literally just for acting and there's no sports— why would I leave my co-Captain position to focus on acting like it's not my— what?"

"You get really passionate while you rant— it's kind of adorable," Ricky commented. "And to be completely honest, I had a crush on you for awhile— then you started dating you know who."

"I was dating Voldemort and nobody told me?" Eliza joked. "No, seriously. I'm not going to let anything come between us and I would also like to know what we are, because you did kiss me in front of my entire family and I'm supposed to go home with them and they're going to ask questions and—"

Ricky cut Eliza off by kissing her. When the pulled apart, Ricky said, "I would like to be your boyfriend."

"I hope I'm not interrupting anything," Eliza froze when she heard the voice. She turned to face the person who the voice belonged to. "Hey, little sis," Nicole smiled.
