DIONNE GENUINELY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT SHE WAS SUPPOSED TO WEAR. Business casual had been her go-to for work the last few years but she felt as though pencil skirts and blazer's weren't exactly going to appeal to viewers. In her meeting with Timothee, they'd discussed other corporate social media marketing and how they went for a more casual approach. Additionally, the looked at some of the trending interview styles that had some sort of gimmick that humanised the celebrity more. She wasn't exactly in a desperate rush to humanise these players when they couldn't stop creeping on her social media.

With all the follow requests and buzz around her account, Timothee suggested she go public to bring more attention to the brand. She didn't enjoy her personal account becoming apart of the corporate regime but she was a people pleaser and a push over. Being publish meant that all his NRL friends were shamelessly stalking her on main (at least make a Finsta). The amount of verified check marks in her views made her uneasy, especially when the minutes ticked by for her to meet these people.

"Carrigan is the one they want to see you with because of the feud but we're not going to give that to them straight away," Timothee had told her in his briefing that morning. "Adam Reynalds, the Broncos captain, is taking questions at Red Hill today to discuss pre-season. I did a bit of back and fourth with the clubs media team and they're allowing you to do a sit down interview with him. Get juicy with it," in the time he said that, he'd stood up and opened the door to his office for her. He rubbed her shoulder as she left, wishing her luck one last time.

So, there she was, sat in the Broncos training facility car park, head resting on her steering wheel. She felt underdressed as she saw reporters dressed in business casual pull up in their news vans—she'd had to use her own car, they couldn't even spare a company one for her! The brunette wore a cream sweater and blue jeans which she was severely regretting. She was so used to being stuck in the office that she forgot Brisbane was a sweaty oven in February. Before she could sweat too much and smell horrid, she tore the sweater off and tossed it in the back which left her in a tight black cropped t-shirt. It felt way too informal to be wearing as she sat down with a Premiership winning athlete but she was in too deep now.

Heaving a sigh, she turned to Korra who'd been silently watching her have an existential crisis, "ready?"

Korra raised an eyebrow at her. "Are you?" She replied, humour evident across her face. "You look constipated, babes."

"Careful or I'll tell Timothee to chain you to the Photoshop desk forever," Dionne grumbled, reapplying her roll on deodorant for the hundredth time.

"Ugh, he would, too. You're like his favourite, I swear," Korra muttered, checking the camera battery was completely charged.

Dionne didn't reply, instead finally opening the driver door and letting the harsh Queensland sun penetrate her fair skin. Thankfully, she'd invested in skincare that had a lot of SPF as soon as she'd migrated to this sauna of a state.

"Where exactly are we supposed to be setting up, anyways?" Asked Korra, slinging the equipment bag over her shoulder. "This place is huge."

"Notes say go to reception and ask for Harmony," Dionne replied, reading off the paper Timothee had given her during their briefing. Looking up, she spotted a large maroon building—surely that's where reception was.

Fans breezed past them, trying to get to the bleachers that dotted the perimeter of the oval. Dionne couldn't help but watch as players all donning the maroon training kits ran around, throwing balls and crashing into each other. Just as she went to look ahead again, she saw him in the flesh.

Patrick Carrigan, with his hair pulled back like he did during games, ran through neon poles that had been speared into the ground to act as obstacles. She watched as his dense body weaved in and out, not hitting a single one or dropping the ball he was holding. His muscular thighs bounced from the impact of each step he took, clearly packing way more force then she could imagine producing. Sweat beaded down his forehead as he reached the end, bowing to catch his breath while the coach spoke to him.

Dionne quickly turned away when he looked up in her direction. There was no way he needed to know she was here—she'd quite like to prolong that meeting for as long as possible if she could.

"Hey, look, it's your bestie," Korra said loudly, making no effort to hide her staring. "Damn, I'm in the wrong industry," she sighed, pointing at a trainer who was helping one of the athletes stretch out a cramp.

Dionne shook her head. "Pervert."

She ignored the feeling of someone peering right through her, not wanting to meet that gaze ever.

🌸 KARLA YAPS!

finally getting back into my groove with these!!! i love writing petty patty, it's so fun to build up the tension before they meet properly. but you got your first glimpse of them seeing each other !!! thoughts?

also, the vote to comment to view ratio on this book & double trouble (my jordan fic) is a bit whack. so if you like reading this & want more please don't forgot to press that star button & leave a comment or two. same goes for double trouble, if you're here because you liked that then make sure you go check you voted on all of it. i'm so grateful for all you guys reading, truly but 1.4k to 56k is a crazy ratio (on double trouble) & implies that 1/40 readers actually vote... which is a bit disheartening. okay, rant over lol

until next time <333
p.s. sorry i always post these at 1am lol
