Introduction

Welcome to Anyone, But A Jock! This is a Jikook story inspired by Anyone But You, the cliques of The Breakfast Club, the tennis playing himbo in The Bee Movie, and a first venture into a/b/o.

Why Mini in the Title?

"Anyone But A Jock" is the first in a new collection called Kook-(Mini)s on AO3 or simply Minis here on Wattpad! Similar to my Low-Stress series, there are a couple features you can usually expect. These stories will be either short or sweet, focusing on quicker-paced narratives, like this one, or future experimental ideas that don't lend well to traditional formats.

Additionally, like Low-Stress, the stories won't be connected to each other—they just share a common structure or style. However, unlike Low-Stress, every story in the Minis series will be fully completed before the first chapter is published.

Publishing Schedule

This fic will have a total of twelve chapters, not including the opening or closing notes. There will be a thirteenth update after the fic is completed with a deleted scene as well. The whole fic will be between 40-45k words (final word count depends on final edits) and will publish weekly on Mondays with two sections. The chapters are pretty long, too.

Cultural Acknowledgement

This fic pulls a lot of inspiration from stereotypes of cliques, focusing specifically on modern stoner-art types and more traditional jocks/athletes. Weed use and smoking will be mentioned and depicted often within Jimin's friend group in this AU. Though the story is set in South Korea, please keep in mind that it is an alternate universe (AU) and not intended to reflect real-life social or political conditions. I'm aware that weed use is a serious offense in South Korea, and that smoking controversies have ended careers there.

There are no trigger warnings from weed in terms of content. No drug-related harmful behaviors occur.

Author's Note

I'm really excited for you all to read this one! It's lighthearted, and the crush that develops is pretty cute. I leaned pretty heavily into some classic rom-com tropes, like cliques, but I think it adds to the fun. This is my first time writing an a/b/o story and I wanted to set it in a more modern world, so that was really exciting for me too.
