Did you ever have any other nicknames for Y/n before 'Star'?

That's a good question actually. I have read plenty of BillxReader books before I started this one and they all had a unique nickname for reader and other authors even decided to just let the reader choose themselves.

At first, I had no idea what nickname Bill should give Y/n. I wanted the reader to be as close to me as possible since I always saw myself as reader while writing it but at the same time I wanted it to relate to others (you guys) as well. With the nickname, it was more reflected off of me there in a way. I actually own that same star necklace as I describe in the book and that necklace has really inspired me for majority of my books believe it or not.

So, no, I was set on Star from the beginning because I had believed that in reality that would be my nickname too if Alex Hirsch had made Bill Cipher given me one (even though people don't really give me a nickname, I'm just 'Ariel'). It was also the plan to use that necklace Bill got the nickname from to help the reader face off Kaden in the end.

Thanks for the question and I apologize for it taking so long to be answered. I've been out and about lately but I don't think that should be an excuse.
