CHAPTER 46
In her room Syamantaki was there with Satyabhama and Krishna as they wanted to give her something privately.
"So what is it you want to give me ?" Syamantaki asked looking at the couple.
Krishna smiled and showed her the ring which he has been carrying for past 3 years. Syamantaki frowned seeing it, it seemed familiar, awfully familiar.
"This belongs to you." Krishna said.
"It is bigger than my size..." Syamantaki muttered looking at the ring.
"Perhaps it can fit your thumb." Krishna said.
He took her right hand and put the ring over her thumb. As the ring slid on, it felt as though a thousand sparks hit that finger causing her to gasp.
"What happened ?" Satyabhama asked.
"I-It feels my thumb has been electrocuted." Syamantaki said.
"Oh ? Is it ? Let me take off the ring then." Krishna said purposefully but Syamantaki pulled her hand away.
"N-No don't take it off, please." She requested.
"Well the ring is for you only." Krishna said smiling.
Syamantaki looked at the ring, it even felt familiar as though she had worn it once. But it also felt that it has been worn by someone else, someone she had a connection with. And that's why even though she felt sparks, she didn't want to remove it.
"So my turn." Satyabhama said showing her a flat sandook.
"What's in this ?" Syamantaki asked.
"It has something that you have to find out on your own." Satyabhama said keeping the sandook on her sister's lap.
She then got up and left with Krishna, Syamantaki looked at them confused then at the ring and then at the sandook. Why is everything feeling so peculiar today ? She wondered.
She opened the sandook, and frowned seeing withered roses in it. A restless feeling took over her as she a pair of gold kangans.
'Why are there withered roses in it ? And whose kangans are these ?' She thought confused and restless.
Her eyes then fell on the bunch of letters in the sandook. Withered Roses, Kangans and old letters, is this the sign of someone's lost love ? She wondered.
Syamantaki opened one of the letters and started reading it. A frown appeared on her face seeing the names of 'Rukmika' and 'Arjun'. In her heart she knew there was a connection of her to these names.
Outside the room Satyabhama was worriedly looking at the door as Krishna kept his hand on her shoulder.
"Swami, I am getting worried." Satyabhama said.
"Everything will be fine, dear. This time I won't let any mishaps take place." Krishna assured.
Suddenly the door opened, and a teared eyes Syamantaki came out. On her wrists were the gold kangans of Rukmika and in her eyes there was a determination.
"Where is my Arjun ?" She asked.
"On the foothills of Himalayas." Krishna said.
