Suddenly a laughing sound fell in her ears, as Rukmi came to the room. Rukmika hurriedly hid the letter beneath pillows before Rukmi could see.

"My poor sister, your beloved perished in the fire of Varnavart ! Now who will spend your life with ?" Rukmi asked.

"Wow Bhrata ! You are laughing at your sister's loss !? How low will you stoop !?" Rukmika asked.

Rukmi said nothing and kept on laughing. This made Rukmika extremely upset and angry. She went up to Rukmi and held his hand dragging him outside the room.

"With vengeance in your head you have become evil-minded ! O worst of men you are laughing at your own sister's pain ! Now don't enter my room ever again !" Rukmika said.

And then she closed the doors of her room at his face.

"Rukmika ! Rukmika !" Rukmi knocked but received no answer from her.

Inside she hid the letter in a safe place and then looked at his ring that she was wearing on her thumb. She sighed wondering how long will it take for him to return.

On the other side, Krishna, Akroor, Balram and Satyaki reached the forest where Prasena, the brother of Satrajit was killed.

"The mani must be here only." Akroor said looking around.

"The mani is not here. Its opulence and radiance can be seen from far away also." Satyaki said.

"Everyone ! Look ! Those are the footprints of the lion who killed Prasena." Krishna said.

"The mani was probably dragged by that lion along with Prasena's body." Balram guessed.

The 4 men started following the path of the footprints of the lion. And then found another footprints which were much bigger. It seemed as if a fight between the lion and another big creature had taken place.

From there peripheral vision they saw flashes of golden light. They turned their heads and saw it to be coming from a cave.

"That is surely the Syamantak Mani ! I shall go and retrieve it." Krishna said.

"No Bhrata, all of us should go. What if there is a danger ?" Satyaki said worriedly.

"The blot of theft is on my character. Only I can wash it off. You all stay there and I shall bring the mani back." Krishna said.

"Be careful Dwarikadheesh." Akroor said.

Krishna nodded and smilingly went inside the cave. Satyaki and Akroor looked at the direction worriedly.

"Don't worry he will be fine." Balram assured.

As Krishna went more and more inside, he could see the opulence of the Syamantak mani being more prominent. It alone was the source of light in the entire cave.

Soon he saw a beautiful young maiden playing with it. He smiled at her and approached her, scaring her in the process.

"Devi, don't be afraid. I am here to take that jewel." Krishna said.

"Pitashree ! Pitashree !" The maiden yelled.

And from behind came a creature big and strong. He was a Hriksh, a species who had been long extinct.

"Who are you !?" He asked.

"I am Devki-nandan Krishna, and I am here to take back that jewel." Krishna said.

"With my valor I have retrieved the jewel and gifted it to my daughter Jambavati. You cannot take it from me, unless you defeat me, Jambavan, in a fight." The Hriksh-raj said.

The fight between Jambavan and Krishna lasts till 27-28 days as per Bhagwat Puran and 21 days as per Vishnu Puran.
