31- Feeling loved
Harlow shoved Antonio to the ground, giggling as she fell on top of him and staring him in the eyes with a smile. "Thank you. This was exactly what I needed. If it weren't for you, I don't know what I would do. You have been my rock and I've been nothing but a crying, pain in the ass."
He cupped the back of her head and smiled as he pulled her down, inches away from his face. "You haven't been a pain in the ass. You've been through a lot; we'll get through this together. With all the recent miscarriages, we have to remember, we still have two healthy beautiful little girls."
She pressed her lips to his and pushed herself up. With a grin, she turned towards the snow and bent down, grabbing a handful of snow and laughed as she dropped it on his face. He laughed. "You're in trouble now!" he said, reaching for her and playfully wrestled her in the snow.
Afterwards, they had a snowball fight until they both got wet and cold. They took one last slide down the hill and went inside to warm up. While she was changing into dry clothes, he went into the kitchen and made a couple glasses of hot chocolate.
As she was changing, she couldn't help but wonder if they made another human being the night before. She wanted another child and wanted to give Antonio all the kids he always dreamed of having. It was killing her how she hasn't been able to bear another child and wondered what she was doing wrong, to cause all the miscarriages.
With a long face, she walked into the kitchen and sat down at the table. Antonio noticed the expression on her face and wondered, what now? "What's with the look on your face?"
"Nothing... just thinking about things."
"Like?" he asked, setting the glass of hot chocolate down in front of her.
She shrugged her shoulders, and sighed, "I would just like to know what I'm doing wrong, that's all." She picked up her mug and took a sip of the hot chocolate. "I feel like I'm doing everything wrong."
He set his mug down and scooted closer to her. He turned her head towards him and curled his finger underneath her chin, giving her a sincere look. "Stop it, right now. You haven't done anything wrong. These sorts of things happen. Don't worry, it's not you."
Later that night, Antonio looked out the window and saw all sorts of different coloring roaming around the sky and called for Harlow. She walked over, stood next to him and looked out the window. "Would you like to go outside and see the northern lights better?" he asked.
"Sure. I've never seen such a thing before."
They walked outside and away from the lighting of the cabin. As they looked up at the sky, he wrapped his arm around her waist, watching the lights move around and change colors. "Wow, this is amazingly beautiful," she said in awe, tilted her head and resting it onto his shoulder. Harlow was getting cold and went back inside.
Antonio stayed outside a little while longer, praying to God. He was worried about Harlow, feeling she was about to lose her sanity and asked for his help. When he was finished and was getting cold himself, he went back inside and got quite the surprise. A naked Harlow jumped into his arms and started kissing him wildly. "Make love to me," she moaned with their lips locked together.
"Aren't you cold?" he asked.
"No. Why?"
"Because you were complaining you were cold and came inside. I come in from outside, you're buck naked, jumping right into my cold body," he chuckled.
"Oh. Well, that way yes I'm cold, but if you make love to me right now, I wouldn't be," she smirked, leaning down and kissing his neck.
With no complaint and with her still in his arms, he carried her to the bedroom, laid her on the bed and made love to her for hours.

After being away for a few days, Antonio noticed Harlow was finally relaxed, happy, and seemed to be refreshed. It had him feeling good to finally see her the way she was, before all this started happening with the miscarriages. Antonio drove back to the airport feeling better than when they first arrived and happy they did this mini vacation, feeling this saved their marriage, and his dignity.
The flight back, Harlow laid on the bed and had Antonio lay with her. She laid in his arms with not being able to keep her eyes off him. "I want you to know, I'm sorry I haven't been able to give you another child. I know how much you've been wanting more children," she said quietly.
"Hun, don't worry about it, we have two already. If it's not meant to be for us to have anymore, then I'm okay with it. It is what it is."
"I know," she sighed, "It still breaks my heart and at times, makes me feel worthless."
He groaned and leaned towards her, kissing her. "You're not worthless. I thought we talked about this already," he said, curling his finger under her chin and looking her in the eyes. "I don't want to hear any more talk about this. I have you, Isabella and Gabriella. What more can I ask for?"
She didn't say another word, closed her eyes and fell asleep. Sleeping until they landed in Montana. While driving to Harlow's parents, she thought of the girls and couldn't wait to see them. Hoping they were good for her parents. They walked inside and were greeted by two little girls running towards them. Harlow held out her arms and bent down, waiting for them to come to her, smiling and hugging them as they both ran into her arms.
"How were they?" she asked, looking up at Charlotte.
"They were good. We had lots of fun." she smiled. "How was your trip?"
"Short." Antonio said quickly. "It could have been a little longer, but it was enjoyable and something we needed to do."
They stayed and visited for a while until the girls were getting cranky and were ready for bed. After they had got home and put the girls to bed, Antonio walked Harlow over to the piano and played her some songs. It had been a while since he last played for her and felt playing would take away more stress from them both.
Feeling she could use a drink and knowing he would want one as well, she got up and headed down to the bar. Filling him a glass of bourbon, and mixing herself a drink as well. She walked back in the room, handing him his drink.
He looked at her surprised while taking the glass from her hand. "Are you feeling okay?"
"I felt like having a drink and knew you wouldn't turn one down." She leaned down, kissing him on the lips. "You don't have to drink it if you don't want to."
"Oh, I'll drink it," he chuckled. "I'm just surprised to see you handing me a drink."
She giggled while pointing her finger at him. "Don't get used to it."

A few months went by; Harlow was sick again and took a pregnancy test. Antonio was in his office on a business call, when Harlow walked into the room and sat on the chair across from him, quietly waiting for him to finish with the call.
Antonio looked up, saw Harlow sitting in the chair and raised an eyebrow when he noticed her looking worried. He finished his call, set his phone down and concernedly looked at her. "You look upset..."
"I'm not upset," she said in just a whisper. She leaned forward and held out her hand, covering the test. "Give me your hand."
She dropped the test into his hand as he held it out. "I'm worried."
He looked at the test and smiled. "You're pregnant."
"For how long this time?" she asked sadly and quietly. "I don't even want to go see the doctor this time, seems like every time I do, I miscarry."
"You have to go in, it's not their fault."
"I know and I feel like I should be excited about this, but I'm scared," she said, standing and walking over to him when he waved her over. She sat down on his lap and wrapped her arm around his shoulder. "I'm excited, really I am. I'm just worried."
He smiled and touched her nose with his finger. "Make that doctor's appointment. I'll go with you."
"Okay."
A few days later, Antonio took the day off from work and brought Harlow to her doctor's appointment, having questions of his own he wanted to ask the doctor.
While waiting for the doctor to come in to the room, she was getting antsier and more nervous the longer it took for him to see them. Afraid to hear the bad words again.
Dr. Walters came in and smiled. "Harlow, Antonio..." he said, shaking their hands. "I see you're pregnant again."
"I am," she sighed.
Dr. Walters could tell in her voice she was nervous and placed his hand on top of hers. "Harlow, I can understand how scared you're feeling right now, but you have to think positive-"
"I tell her that too," Antonio said, cutting him off.
"We'll look and see where you're at. Let's all cross our fingers and hope everything is okay."
Antonio's eyes were glued to the screen while the doctor moved the wand around her stomach. He saw one baby and how it was moving all over the place, making him smile. "Looks very active."
"Very. Everything looks good, the heartbeat is strong and it's to where it should be. All we can do is cross our fingers at this point."
"Is there anything she can do or take to stop a miscarriage from happening?" Antonio asked.
"I'm sorry, no. But I'm listing her as a high-risk pregnancy. Please limit your activities. No flying, no long car travels, no caffeine and make sure you get plenty of rest."
"What has been causing all her miscarriages?"
The doctor shook his head. "I'm sorry. That I couldn't tell you. I wish I could. Most of the time it's because of the baby. They're not growing right, it could be abnormal genes, bad chromosomes... I could go on. We've already tested her for diabetes and that was negative. We've ran other tests and nothing alarming has come back."
Antonio sighed while rubbing his mouth, wishing he heard a better answer from him. "Exactly how far along is she, this time?"
"Nine weeks."
"Usually, once you hit twelve weeks, you're in the clear. So, let's all continue crossing our fingers and do exactly what I've instructed."
They left the doctor's office, hoping he was right. Antonio thought the baby looked active and healthy, and after hearing the heartbeat, he thought maybe this will be the one to finally make it into this crazy world.
The next couple months were going good for them. She was the happiest she's been, their girls were turning two and she was now a little more than four months pregnant with her tests at the doctors, all coming back normal.
Ethan and Antonio were outside setting up for the girls' birthday party, while Harlow was showing Charlotte the room she had started setting up for the baby. "We put the girls in toddler beds and decided to use the old crib. And the other crib went into the other room, just in case," she giggled.
"In case of what? Twins?"
"No, not twins. Just in case I get pregnant again after this one is born."
Charlotte face palmed, feeling dumb. "I should have known. With all the doctor's visits, you would know by now if you're carrying twins again. By the way, the room looks lovely dear and it's perfect for a boy or girl."
"Thanks."
They left the room and went over to where the guys were. Ethan was teasing and chasing the girls around the living room, while Antonio and James were sitting on the couch talking.
Harlow and Antonio's friends finally arrived. Ethan saw Gemma and walked over to her. "Hey little mama, how is everything?"
"Hi Ethan," she giggled.
"Been a long time since I saw you last; I hear you've gotten married and now I see you're expecting."
"Yes, that's true. I'm due any day now."
"Damn, I lost out again," he laughed, snapping his fingers. "Well congratulations, he's a very lucky man."
Ethan walked over to the balloons grabbed a few and handed them to the girls. Keeping one for himself. He rounded up the kids, got down on his knees and laughed. "Watch this."
He sucked in some of the helium and sang Happy Birthday to the girls, making the kids laugh."
Antonio and Harlow laughed while watching Ethan with the kids. "Leave it to him. How did I know he would have fun with the helium again?" Antonio said, chuckling.
While Harlow grabbed the girls birthday cakes, Antonio grabbed the girls and set them down at the table. Harlow put candles in to the two small cakes, lit them and set them in front of Gabriella and Isabella. After they were sung to and had hem blow out the candles, they stuck their fingers into the cake.
"Don't be fingering the cake, we have to eat that too," Ethan said chuckling, taking the cakes away. "What?" he asked, after seeing Harlow's expression.
"You know what," she scowled.
He looked at Antonio and threw his hands up in the air. "What did I do now?"
Antonio covered his mouth, not wanting him to see him laughing. "It's not what you did, it's what you said."
It dawned on Ethan what he said to the girls, and laughed. "Like they even understand," he said, looking at Harlow.
"No, but they repeat everything you say."
"Looks like you need a snickers. I even brought a bag," he laughed. "Would you like one, two, or three?"
"Go away," she giggled, pushing him away from her.
After the party, Ethan stayed behind to help clean up the mess. Harlow put the girls to bed and decided to go to bed. She walked over to Antonio, giving him a kiss goodnight. She looked at Ethan, then pointed her finger at the two of them. "You two behave yourselves."
"What? We're just cleaning and putting everything away," Antonio said.
"I know you two. You both don't work tomorrow and I'll be in bed. I know that it means you two will be hitting that bottle here shortly."
Ethan shoved Antonio and laughed. "She knows us too well." He looked over, saw the bag of snickers and walked over to the table, grabbing the bag and pulling out a couple snicker bars, handing them to her. "You forgot these."
"I'm craving one, anyway. Thank you," she said, taking them from his hand.
After cleaning up, they headed downstairs to have a couple drinks. "I noticed she isn't as cranky with this pregnancy." Ethan said as he poured them a couple glasses of bourbon.
"No. She's a lot more mellow with this pregnancy, but I still worry about her."
"I hear you; I give her credit, she's stronger than we think she is." Ethan said, holding the glass to his lips.
"She's strong. Stronger than I think she is. All those miscarriages she had, took a huge toll on her. She brought up, if something were to happen, to where she has another miscarriage, she's done trying to have anymore."
"I don't blame her, how many has she had anyway?"
Antonio tilted his head back, thinking and using his fingers to count. "I want to say, eight or maybe nine. She's had so many, it's hard to count."
"Wow... I'll keep praying all is good this time."
"Me too."
Ethan lifted his glass and smiled. "I would like to say one thing. Being it's the girls birthday, I want to make a toast... so, here's to birthdays, they only come once a year... and I have to say, I'm so glad were not birthdays, how about you?" he snickered.
