Prison life
After (Y/n), Sam, Matt and Shiro were captured by a galra commander who had been exploring the Milky Way galaxy they were brought to galra central command before they were separated. (Y/n) knew that Matt and Shiro were sent to fight in the arena, she'd overheard a few other prisoners talk about it, but she didn't know where Sam had been sent to since he wasn't able to fight. Shortly after Zarkon saw that she was a woman he sent (Y/n) to a special area of the main galra ship where female prisoners were kept; no one in central command wanted the prisoners breeding, so it only made sense for them to be separated. The cells had a comfortable bed compared to where the men were kept, a sink, a small bathtub and a toilet, although they had solid metal doors with only a small window towards the top. None of the male galra were allowed where the female prisoners were kept, Zarkon knew galra could breed with any indigenous species and he prevented that from happening by only letting the women guards into the restricted area.
Every day Haggar would bring the female prisoners three meals while the men usually received two, as it turned out Zarkon wasn't completely heartless when it came to holding prisoners. The food goo was always made to taste like different foods from across the universe; Haggar enjoyed dabbling with different spices and flavorings, a trait she still retained after being exposed to so much quintessence in the past. (Y/n) missed eating real food and being free, having to live in a blank prison cell was boring and if it wasn't for some of the other women in the other cells to talk to then she probably would have gone mad. She knew not to try and escape because the last female prisoner who tried to escape was never heard from again, (Y/n) didn't want to think about what might have happened to her; (Y/n) still hoped that she would be rescued soon, though. Speaking of food, when (Y/n) heard her cell door open she sat on the edge of her bed, seeing Haggar standing in the doorway with a tray of food goo and a cup of water.
"Here's your second meal, prisoner one hundred and thirty-five. I believe the spices will be to your liking." Haggar spoke when she walked into the cell and placed the tray down next to (Y/n), only looking her in the eye for a second.
"Thank you, High Priestess Haggar." (Y/n) thanked the older woman with a tone that lacked emotion despite being grateful for the food, she knew better than to make conversation with one of her captors.
Haggar said nothing as she turned around and walked out of the cell, placing her hand on the scanner to close and lock the door again. Because she'd already been going crazy from the partial isolation (Y/n) looked forward to seeing Haggar three times every day even though she honestly scared her, it wasn't often that the young woman got to actually see anyone. The food goo was its usual bland purple color, although it at least smelled really good; the scent was akin to parsley, oregano and a meat she didn't know the name of, probably some kind of flavoring from the main kitchen. (Y/n) ate and drank in silence, listening to the other doors opening and closing accompanied by Haggar greeting the other prisoners. It wasn't until Haggar and the guards left that everyone began talking while eating, some of the other women were able to easily learn other languages which made communication easier.
"How's the food 'n there, earthen lass?" Viva, who lived in the cell right across from (Y/n's), asked her through the little window in her own door.
"It's surprisingly good, the spices taste kind of like two of the spices that come from Earth." (Y/n) replied, speaking loud enough for her neighbor across the way to hear.
"Aye, this meal is delicious. We're lucky the High Priestess has enough mercy on our souls to give us food that doesn't taste like week old socks." Viva responded lightheartedly before she went to go sit on her bed where she could eat.
(Y/n) smiled to herself before she went back to eating the food she was given, she enjoyed talking to Viva whenever she had the opportunity because the other woman was fun to talk to; she couldn't pronounce the name of the planet Viva came from, but her bold Scottish-like accent was nice to listen to, it was almost like having another human on board even though she knew Viva wasn't human. Obviously (Y/n) wasn't friends with everyone, apparently she somehow rubbed some of the other women the wrong way or they saw her as inferior and would undoubtedly kill her if given the chance. A few stray tears escaped (Y/n's) eyes while she ate, being held captive wasn't a life she wanted and by that point all she could do was hope someone out there would come to rescue her and the others who were held against their will. During the journey to Kerberos she'd had so many expectations even though she and her crew were only collecting ice samples to look for alien life, none of them were expecting to literally be abducted by aliens. Eventually someone would come to rescue her, but for the time being (Y/n) was stuck eating food goo and drinking questionable water while sitting in a barren prison cell.
