Update: 2 year anniversary

A/N I wrote most of this on the actual 2 year anniversary but I forgot that I never finished it so just imagine it's been exactly 2 years

(Yes, I wrote this at 12 a.m., so it's a little scattered. Ah, whatever. Old habits die hard.)

I know any new readers probably won't want chapters upon chapters of "sorry I'm not writing anymore" and old readers might not remember this or assume the update was a glitch. Regardless, I've been trying to be more optimistic lately, so here's a quick update for the 2 year anniversary of the book!

First off, I can't believe it's already been 2 years! Sometimes I still feel like that nerdy 12-year-old who considered herself a "social media expert" despite knowing nothing about anywhere other than wattpad. That child is still a part of me (gosh, I sound like I'm 40!), but I've also grown a lot since then. Still, I remember what it was like: Updating a randomness book in 7th grade, disappointed because I wasn't in the same homeroom as my best friend, excited for the day I'd turn 13 and be allowed to get a tumblr account. This series is such a source of nostalgia for me, and I'm so glad I created it.

Second, thank you all so much. This is, to date, one of the largest projects I ever completed, and for that I am proud. I do cringe at some outdated memes, or scenarios that my 2017 self finds regrettable, but that gets completely overshadowed by the fact that you all were so supportive. I was so passionate about this project, and instead of mocking me like so many people on the internet do to passionate kids, you asked me about my OCs. You laughed at my jokes. You submitted fan art, playlists, fanfiction even! (Side note: The day I found the first piece of AsM fanfic was the happiest day of my life as tween. It really meant so much to me.) I will never be able to thank you all enough for how special those years felt, so instead I can just promise to continue writing and creating, even if it's not on Wattpad anymore.

(Sorry this sounds so stiff and numerical. My first draft was a mess so I made a list of points to talk about.)

Onto some personal stuff:

As I stated before, I am still writing, just not posting it. As I've grown, I've realized Wattpad will always be my home, but my work needs to find its own outlet. My current project, for example, is a fantasy/humor book series called "Academy Misfits", about a group of six teenage mages who steal a dragon egg and have to deal with the consequences. If you want to hear more, I'd love to talk about it, so pm me and I'll either answer or send you one of my other new social media accounts where you can reach me easier. (I have discord and twitter mainly now, but I also have others). Though it is written in book-form instead of script, it is primarily dialogue with a few more descriptive/narration scenes.

The name "Academy Misfits" may sound familiar to some of my long time readers. It is because it was the first long project I ever finished. I was 10 years old when I finished the first draft, and now I'm re-imagining it, keeping the same basic plot but changing a lot. If I do come back to AsM someday, it will be in this way, though I can't make any promises.

As well as that book, I also still enjoy screenwriting, and I actually dream about having a career in comedy writing for television. I don't have any projects I'm working on currently, though I do intend on writing/filming some original sketches and monologues to post on YouTube at some point.

I also went to NYC a couple months ago, and finally saw Hamilton! It truly was as amazing, and if any of you want to hear all the details, just ask! During my time in New York, I also went on a tour of NBC, where I saw Studio 8H (they film Saturday Night Live there). SNL is still my favorite show, and it was incredible to be in that room. To top it all off, I saw a UCB improv show, which only increased my love for comedy, and tbh I kind of aspire to be there someday.

(Again, sorry if it sounds like I'm bragging. I just wanted you all to know I'm okay!)

Back to AsM: like I said before, I am not continuing it. But, I thought in honor of my yearly tradition of "Special Ask Week", I'd let you all comment questions below and I'll answer them at the beginning of November when that episode would normally be posted. You can ask (almost) anything, what the characters would be doing now, how certain episodes were done, where the heck Jess is now? (answer: probably at some sort of play/musical rehearsal). And in addition to the Q&A, I'll be posting some never-before-seen art and deleted scenes, as well as a brief summary of the ending of season 2.

Finally, I just want to say, thank you all for keeping this series alive. I haven't been on Wattpad in months, but as soon as I logged on today, I saw hundreds (I didn't count but it was a lot) of unique comments from new and old readers alike, with most if not all being positive. I couldn't ask for more, you're the most encouraging group of people I've ever met.

If I have more to say, it will have to come in the Q&A.

Stay golden, web friends!
