Homeschooled

As said, I was homeschooled until I was fourteen. I've barely ever spoken, even at dinner. I only really talk to my father, who works in the marines and only ever comes home around Christmas. That's why i look forward to Christmas. It's not because of the presents or anything. It's because I get to see my father for the first time in years. I've caught my mother crying in her room because she doesn't have the same 'relationship' I have with him. I almost went in to comfort her, but then I realized it was 12:00 and I shouldn't have been up. By the next morning, I had forgotten. Now, it's just because I realize this- I shouldn't have heard any of it. I don't want to make her feel welcome in my life. This is rude, but after what she said to me about school, after what she did to me, she doesn't deserve nice.
"Elaine, we're going to get school supplies!" My mother called from the other side of the room.
"Have fun!" I called, not looking up from my phone.
"Well I guess I'll get you all bright sparkly pink notebooks and folders, then!"
I groaned and stood up. "Why can't we just shop online?" I whined.
"Oh cut that out. Come on," she said, grabbing my arm and pulling me to the door.
I threw an internal temper tantrum as I walked to the car. My cat rubbed up against my leg as I stepped outside.
"Hi Caddy," I cooed, stroking her head. "Go back inside, okay?" As soon as I said this, Caddy turned around and bounded inside. I swear, this cat can understand English.
I climbed into the car and slammed it shut. The entire ride I had headphones on, blasting Panic! At The Disco and MCR. When we arrived, I climbed out of the car and picked out every black or dark gray supply that I could find. Accordion folder, three notebooks, one 3" binder, two 2" binders, stuff like that I could cross of the list. We found everything except a backpack. I saw a black one with Panic! At The Disco stitched onto it. I raced over and grabbed it, then walked back to my mom.
"Got one," I said, holding it up.
"Oh good," she sighed. "Let's go pay."
The ride home was the same as the ride there, blasting emo music, and this time, wondering if school would be okay.
