Wendy collapsed on her bed after a long day of work at the Mystery Shack. She had worked a few hours later than usual, mostly to enjoy Dipper's company. Now that everything was resolved, she could finally let herself relax.

Wendy's phone rang. It was her best friend, Tambry. Suddenly feeling awkward, Wendy couldn't decide wether or not to answer. She hadn't spoken to Tambry since they had gotten out of school for summer vacation. Wendy had been so wrapped up in her adventures with the twins, the idea of spending time with her friends never crossed her mind.

She reluctantly answered the video-chat request and forced herself to appear happy when Tambry appeared on the screen.

"Hey girl, hey!"

It felt weird hearing her voice after what felt like an eternity of endless work hours.

"Sup, Tambers!" Wendy replied.

"The guys and I wanted to know if you could get out of work this weekend to hang out."

Wendy frowned.

"Sorry, but I can't."

"Are you seriously working an entire week again?! This has got to be the fourth week in a row! You can't go on like this!"

Wendy shrugged. "I can't do anything about it, it is what it is," she lied. 

Tambry squinted through her phone, leaning in and examining her best friend.

"You're lying."

"I am not."

"Are too."

"How can you tell?" Wendy scoffed.

"Your nose wrinkles up a little and you avoid looking at my eyes when you lie."

DANGIT.

"Tell me what's going on. I know that this doesn't have anything to do with work so don't even try to lie to me this time, Corduroy."

Wendy sighed heavily.

"I already have plans this weekend."

"And what might those plans be?"

"None of your business."

Tambry rolled her eyes. "Seriously, what could be more exciting than spending the weekend with your best friends?"

"A lot of things. . ." Wendy muttered.

"Yeah right. If you want to work all the time like some loser, you can go ahead and kiss your social life goodbye!"

Wendy's heart began to beat faster.

"It's not dumb, okay? The Pines twins are really nice, and Soos is fun to hang out with-"

"-wait, you actually like hanging out with those losers? Ha! You're joking!"

Wendy's eyes narrowed angrily.

"They're not losers! They're awesome! Dipper's smart and strong, Mabel's funny and sweet, and Soos feels like a brother to me."

"Pffft, what's so awesome about some nerdy teenager and his dork of a sister?"

Wendy's face was bright red now.

"They do all sorts of amazing things! They fight monsters! They hunt ghosts!" She stopped herself and winced. She began praying that he hadn't really said any of that.

The look on Tambry's face said it all.

"You're not lying. . . are you seriously going ghost hunting with the Pines twins? That's so cool!"

Wendy groaned and buried her face into her pillow. Why was it that she couldn't stop moving her mouth at the worst of times?"

"Let me guess, is it at that old convenience store downtown? I read all about the claims of hauntings and stuff in the paper. Wow, for once you actually found a group of people that might actually be cooler than us."

Tambry was beginning to sound hurt.

Wendy sat up and crossed her legs.

"No way, Tambers. You're the coolest person I know! Who else would be able to pull off purple hair?"

Tambry's smile returned and she nodded.

"Thanks, girl."

Wendy glanced at the time in the corner of her cell phone screen.

"I've gotta go. It's past my curfew. Talk to you later?"

"Sure thing."

Wendy turned her phone off and breathed a sigh of relief. Tambry had taken the news well. . . maybe a little too well.

"Ugh I'm such an idiot," Wendy mumbled as she crawled under the covers.

"If Dipper finds out, he's never going to forgive me again."

A/N: Heyo! Sorry for the short chapter. I've been busy this weekend cause my school is putting on a musical and I was cast to be in the ensemble as well as a very small solo (it's literally two words but whatever I'll take what I can get)

And the musical is High School Musical btw, it's been a lot of fun even though the girl who was cast for the lead's mom is the director (and I find that slightly fishy) and also my crush is playing Troy. . . so . . . *sighing*
