[ drabble ]

It was like a switch –

The way the voices; the constant flood of sounds all just seemed to fade away. Dolores stopped questioning it a long time ago, from how it was possible to why you of all people had this distinct ability to turn off all the sound she would normally hear. 

Well, most of it.

Dolores sighed, content , pressing her head against your chest – with anyone else, this gesture would have been so painful to her ears, but not with you. She glanced up, flashing you with a smile so gentle, one you returned as you reached out and grabbed her hand, intertwining it with yours. 

Dolores felt giddy, but at peace, as she savored the silence -  the sounds that always riddled her mind all seeming to disappear - all except the gentle beat of two hearts.

Also this idea came to me when I thought of "what if there was a someone  in the village that could cancel out The Madrigals abilities just by being in their vicinity??"

I think it's a cool concept >3 If anyone wants to use it, go ahead hhaha.
