Chapter 15

I was nervous, no doubt. I dreaded every second I had to wait, but I had to wait. It wasn't like I could skip this whole ceremony and be done with it even though that is was I really want right now.

One of my maids came up to me in a long dress. She stood by me, handed me a bouquet, and smiled. "I guess I'll be the one giving you away." She looked forward with a slight smile, so I followed suit. I didn't say anything. She didn't say anything. I heard the music.

Two guards opened up the doors and the light of the outside filled my eyes. The place was beautiful. There were trees and those blue flowers. Many people sat in chairs as Damion stood in front of the wedding arch and the priest stood behind a podium behind the arch. I am regretting this.

I smiled and the maid next to me, who had linked arms with me, started moving which meant I should as well.

We moved down the aisle until we stood in front of the Damion and the priest. Everyone was behind us.

Soon the priest began the ceremony. "Dearly beloved, we are gathered here in the sight of God," I had forgotten that this was a Catholic wedding, "and in the presence of family and friends to join together this man and this woman in Holy Matrimony, which is commended of St. Paul to be an honorable estate, instituted by God and therefore is not to be entered into unadvisedly or carelessly, but reverently, joyfully and in the love of God. Into this holy estate, these two persons present come now to be joined." I almost cringed at the whole thing.

My family and I weren't really religious. Sure, if we were asked it, we would say Christian, but we barely did anything religious. We would speak about God sometimes and I would hear the occasional pray from my dad. There was nothing else beyond that.

The maid lets go of me and turned to me. She hugged me and left to sit down. I turned to face Damion and went up to where we both turned to look at each other. I held the bouquet in my left hand as my right hand held Damion's left.

Make it stop. Please!

The priest started again and I didn't take my eyes off of Damion. I have to focus on what I need to do. "Jesus Christ Reminds us, that at the beginning the Creator made us male and female, and said, For this cause, a man shall leave his father and mother and shall cleave to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh."

Bare through it! Bare through it! Bare through it!

"God loved us and created us to love others. Our lives find completion only as we love and are loved in return. Together, we can become what we could never be separate. Marriage is of God."

""Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.""

I take a deep breath and sigh. I take my smile while slowly dying on the inside.

"Damion and Lyra come today desiring to be united in this sacred relationship. Let us pray"

The priest takes a pause and says: "O' Almighty God you have created us all in the image of Love, the image of Yourself. Bless now these two who stand before you. Guide them in your wisdom, shine your light upon them, that as they journey through this life together they will walk as bearers of your Truth. Amen."

As I have practiced and have been told to do, I let go of Damion and hand my bouquet off to one of my other maids. I have way too many.

"Please join hands."

Damion and I hold each other's hands and listen for the priest.

"Do you, Damion Sheen, take Lyra Turmka, to be your wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish; from this day forward until death do you part?"

Something felt strange. My sight jumped out of my body, along with my soul. I saw myself, holding Damion's hands. I couldn't control my body anymore. If I wasn't, who was? I head Damion say "I do." I looked around. Nobody could see me, nobody could hear me. I walked closer to me. I could hear the priest resit the same thing to me. I was behind myself.

When I came time to say I do, I didn't. I let go of Damion's hands. "I," my right hand made a fist and I cooled my arm back, ready to punch him. Everyone looked confused. They didn't know what was going to happen. "Don't!" I swung at Damion and punched him extremely hard.

I didn't do that. I had no control. I looked to the side of me, frantic, and saw Star. He was in the same stance I was in. He was controlling my body. He looked pissed and he looked on the verge of tears.

Damion fell to the ground from the punch and everybody gasped. The guards came running at me. As my body turned to Star at the guards dead in the eyes, I noticed something. My eyes, they were white with square flashes of color swimming within them.

It was Star. The guards that looked into my eyes started to foam at the mouth and soon started choking on their own blood. I looked in the direction of everybody and the same thing happened. The foam. The blood. It happened to everyone. The priest. Kayla. The peers. Everyone, but Damion who had huddled around the wedding arch in fear.

I looked emotionless. I came straight to Damion. I bent down and took him by the collar. I didn't kill him straight away. "I don't!" My eyes went wider and I was blinded by a flash of light.

I wasn't asleep. I wasn't dead. I was back in my body and all I see was white.
