Chapter 11
My eyes flutter awake and I groan. That groan turns into a hiss and that hiss turned into a shiver.
The ground is foreign from the wooden and hay floor. I was now on metal or stone, it was hard to tell. The temperature was low and the wall wasn't any better. I was laid in the corner, my body curled up against the walls. All I can see are the rest of the walls and the front, which was a wall of bars.
I tried to get up, but my leg was missing. I almost felt helpless without it. I crawl on the freezing floor to the bars and look out in front of it. There was another cell and another and another and another and- well you get my point! It was an endless hall of cells.
Someone was in each cell. I felt bad, but I felt worse for myself. All of them wore white and all of them had wings, but something was strange with the wings. They weren't naturally gifted wings, no, they were shoved into their bodies. This was something I didn't notice. The girl in front of me was the person who gave this away.
She had her back towards me, her dress draping over her legs. The dress' open back was low. It went down to the lower back. On her bare back was two, long, bloody, and wide wounds that went deep and showed inside her mussel and whatever, but what was inside was worse. Giant white angel wings were stuffed in each gash. It was covered in dried up blood at the base and was folded but was moving. She was able to move them!
The wings weren't nearly placed in, it was shoved deep inside. It was horrible to see. Worse yet, the wings were sloppily stitched to the body. The stitch started at one side and draped over the wings to join the other side. There were only a couple and none of them were straight. It looked bloody.
The girl looked back at me, her eyes were glowing. The glow died down and she turned her body to me. She sat down and looked at me. I gripped the bar to hold me up and she spoke. "Who are you." She didn't sound to have asked but it was a question. "Um... I'm Lillia-"
"No!" She lunges towards me, her eyes glowing brighter, but was stopped because of the bars. She was hyperventilating and sweat was visibly dripping. I scooted back in shock. She sighs and sat back into the wall and so do I.
Time passes and it seems like days. I have been watching the same drop of water fall from the ceiling. All I think about is Star. "Who is Star?" A girl said. I looked over and it was that crazy girl from earlier. I stared at her in confusion for a while until she said, "I can read thoughts." I was surprised, but I believed.
"Ok, then. Star was my husband. He was a star... hence his name." I said. She got up from the ground and started jumping. She screamed in excitement and giggled. "Are you talking about Nova? He's tall, strong, smart, quirky, and seems that he would barely hurt a fly. He has dark brown hair with bright, electric blue eyes. He also has a great sense of humor." I thought for a minute. That sounded like Star, but she called him Nova. I don't think we were thinking of the same person.
"That's him! That's Nova. He would always say that when he went to Earth, he would ask for his name to be Star." I smiled slightly, knowing that I wasn't The only one who knew him. He would've seemed extremely lonely for me to be the only one he knew.
"Really? How do you know him?" I asked. I wanted to know more; I wanted to see what he once was. "He was mine and many other's commanders. I also fought in the same war and I also knew him since he was a baby, but a lot of people did."
"You fought in the same war?" I asked.
"Yeah! When Nova broke, he made a rebellion and fought against the Sun. He hated how he was confined to one job and how his job was to hurt so many people. He hated hurting people, but you would know that since you are his wife!" I laughed at her comment and sighed.
"Tell me stories about him. I don't know much other than 'Earth Star'." I said.
"When He was born, he was picked as the Sun's chosen one and was intensely trained for war and battles. That's what we all did. Thousands upon thousands of people grew up beside him and as he grew older, that didn't stop. Everybody loved him and looked up to him. We called him Nova because when he did explode, he could kill everything in his wake. He was an unstoppable killer. If he tried to, he could kill everyone, but he didn't. He trained kids and nurses people. He taught so many of the meaning of loving and caring. All we ever knew was to be an emotionless weapon, but Nova tore that down. He showed people that it's okay to have emotions and it can fuel yourself I do whatever you wanted." I started getting wrapped up in the story. I honestly didn't know anything about Star before he came to earth. He always refused to talk about it.
"He was a hero! One day, he got up in front of a crowd and did this whole speech about how the Sun is taking our emotions and our own names away because what the Sun wanted was violence, that he didn't care. And he talked and moved everyone to his side and everyone was wonder what he got out of this until we found out when he declared battle against the Sun's forces and against the Sun, himself. We all stuck to him. We trusted him and we loved him. He had killed over 10,000 people alone. The battle lasted only a couple days. The total we had killed was over 70,000 soldiers. Over 8,000 people on our side were killed as well. We fought until the Sun surrenders and allowed people to quit their missions/jobs, but for a price. We tried to reason for something better, but we couldn't. The said that he will let us go, but when we die we go The Land of Warring Kingdoms, a place where people suffered and went crazy and lived the rest of eternity screaming and suffering. It was better than nothing." She finished.
I thought about the story for a minute or two. The things that stuck out to me the most was that Star could kill anything he pleased and that "when we die we go The Land of Warring Kingdoms". Some had said that I was in The Land of Warring Kingdoms. But that didn't matter, it was the thing about Star that made my head turn.
Star was murdered. If he could kill anyone who he pleased, was there someone stronger than him out there, a Moon Child stronger than him? It was the only reasonable answer. "It's not." The girl said. "He would have wanted to die." I looked at her and she was on the verge of tears. "I can't believe he's dead." She started to scream at the top of her lungs.
She fell to the ground and screamed and screamed. She won't stop and it was starting to hurt. "Please calm down!" I yelled. I tried to speak over her, but she wouldn't stop! I covered my ears and shut my eye tightly, trying to suppress the pain. A man walked over to her cell and started pounding and shouting at her. She stopped.
I opened my eye and released my ears. There was a loud ringing that went away a couple minutes later. The man looked at me and left. He had a full set of armor on. Soon someone else came over. I couldn't see his face. He looked up and that is when fear tried to strike me dead.
It was Damion. He was all dressed up in fine clothing and he had an evil smile plastered on his face.
