CHARTER 7

"Hey, Liam? I meant to ask you yesterday, but the weirdest thing happened to me that night." I tell him, gazing at the scenery outside the window. We were on a train, heading to visit some friends of his.
"What was it?" He questioned, half asleep, his head on my shoulder.
"I don't know, but I was in the middle of a forest. It looked almost enchanted. It was like- pink everywhere, and I could hear birds, but couldn't see them." I described. "It was kind of magical, and music was playing, and then I went to sleep."
"That was me." He mumbled tiredly against my shoulder.
"Wait–" I turned my attention away from the window and stared down at him. "It was you? How did you do that?"
"I hallucinated you. I heard you having trouble sleeping, so I just thought I would help." He murmured quietly, his voice slightly inaudible from how tired he was.
"Oh...well, thank you, I guess." He said nothing in response and drifted off to sleep.
Maybe the storm kept him up as well, I thought.
Falling asleep too, I soon got up 2 hours later, once I felt the train come to a halt. I wiped my eyes and the drool from my lips, and then woke up Liam, who was in a deep slumber.
He jumped up, startled, staring around in confusion. He rubbed his eyes and stretched, getting back to reality.
"We're here already? Felt like 20 minutes." He muttered, still stretching.
"Where even are we?" I questioned, looking outside the window and seeing what looked like a town.
"Bilgrove, Vomaland. It's a small town, not really that big," He answered, getting up from his seat. "Come along now. They want to meet you."
Wait, what? But they don't have phones, so how-? Fuck it, I'll just ask.
"How do you-?" He cut me off before I could answer.
"The mirror. We use the mirror to communicate." He answered, chuckling and getting into the aisle, me following behind him.
More confused, I asked, "But how does that work?"
"It's simple. First, you activate it by saying what you want. Either a message or call, where you're face to face with the person behind the mirror. If you're still confused, I'll show you someday." He explained.
"Okay." Liam helped me off the train, and then guided me toward what I assume was his friends house.
What felt forever, we finally arrived. Liam walked up to the door and knocked on it. I paid little attention to the design of the houses, but I noticed that they looked like the houses in Italy.
Is this place just like it?
The door later opened, and a man with short brown feathery hair and ocean blue eyes came into view.
"Payno!" the man greeted him in an outburst and brought him into a tight hug.
"Long time no see!" the brown-haired stranger exclaimed, pulling away from the hug.
"We saw each other last week." He said with a chuckle, walking into the house, me following behind him.
"Last week is too long to not see your best pal." The man replied. I didn't realize we walked into a kitchen until I smelled what I assumed was food being cooked, and then saw a tall man with curly hair, standing by the stove.
"Darling, look who's here!" The tall man turned his head toward Liam and me, and smiled brightly, placing the large spoon down in the pot.
"Payno!" He immediately tackles Liam into a gigantic hug, practically suffocating him.
"Good to see you, mate!" He exclaimed, happily.
"Good to see you too, lad." Liam said with a radiant smile.
"You're just in time for dinner." The tall man informed, heading back to the pot.
"Who's your friend, by the way? Is this the Chamtrodelian?" He asked, turning the stove off.
"No mate, I said she came through the portal accidentally. She's a mortal." Liam introduces me, clarifying to his friends who I am.
I awkwardly smiled and waved at them. "Hey. Hi."
Oh wow, I'm even more awkward on this earth than the real one.
"Right, yes, hello." The emerald-eyed warlock greeted me, scratching the back of his neck, and then turned back around to prepare the dishes.
"Kara, this is Harry, and this is Louis." He introduces his brown-haired friends.
"Would you like some porridge?" Asked Harry as he placed a bowl of porridges on a tray on the table.
That was fast. It has only been a few seconds since he turned around. Then again, 'magic.'
But how the hell did he manage to carry all of that without dropping them?
"Sure, I haven't really eaten much today." I replied, and sat down around the table. The porridge was hot, so I took a small taste.
"Mmm, this is good! What kind of porridge is this?" I asked, taking another careful scoop.
"Legumes Porridge. It's named that, because of the sauce." Harry answered, and began eating his.
"The sauce?" I raised a brow, questioning.
"It's a thick gold sauce made of tart sea vegetables, and of course, legumes. The sauce gives it the kicking flavour." He explained.
"Ah, okay, got it." I nod, and continued eating.
Suddenly, a thought came to my mind. "Hey, I've been wondering, but what are these nationalities you guys are called?"
"She asks a lot of questions." Liam said, laughing lightly.
"It's alright." Replied, Louis, with a soft smile. "So, Vomaland is like what you call England in your world, and Chamtrodel is what you call America."
"So like- Vomaland is a part of England?" I wondered, and he shook his head.
"No, it's our own country. We all have our own countries in our continents. No states, though." He clarified clearer.
That's so cool if you asked me.
"So, what is the difference exactly?"
Okay, maybe I do ask too many questions; but in a new world like this, you can't exactly help but be curious.
"Well, in your world, you have multiple languages in a continent, based on countries," he began, taking a small spoon of his porridge. "In this world, however, the continents just have one language, and that language is their primary language. So like- they only have one country, so that's why it's only one language."
"Umm, I think I'm understanding." I replied, truthfully. At least, I think I do? Hopefully.
We then ate in silence for a while, until there was a sudden - ding - sound.
"Oh! My rosemary and onion crown crumble pastry is done." Harry declared, before getting up and walking over to the oven.
He came back to the table and placed a deliciously looking crown pastry on it. It was a golden brown, with what I assumed was the onion crumble baked in the middle, and was topped with rosemary.
I want to go home, I want to go home, I want to go hom- fuck it, I can stay as long as I want and eat these delicious foods, I don't care!
Okay, I do care, but still!
And man was it delicious, as I ate it all off and was stuffed.
