CHAPTER 5

When we arrived back, I felt more relieved than ever that I was finally on land. The seasickness was too much for me to handle.
Liam opened the door, and we were immediately greeted by a happy 6 legged wolf, running up to him, wagging her tail and tackling him with licks.
Liam laughed, ruffling the pet's fur. "I missed you too, Delphi."
The furry creature got off of him and ran to me. I backed away quickly, and I assumed she noticed my feared reaction, as she suddenly stopped. She whined and turned around, running to the other room.
"She's not dangerous, I promise." Said Liam, having already gotten up from the floor.
Not a promise, I hate those.
"You'll get used to her soon. I trained her a lot after I created her." Wait, did he just say what I think he just said?
"Created?"
"Yes. I created her using a spell." He answered as we walked into the living room. Asralyn was sitting on the couch, Delphi in her arms watching TV.
"A spell?" I questioned oddly, taking a seat on one of the chairs.
"Yep. You can do that instead of buying a pet like in your world, but you have to sign a toll of legal documents to confirm you earn them. It's tiring after the first two minutes." He explained, sitting down next to Asralyn, and putting his arm around her shoulder.
She smiled lovingly at him after as he sat down, and leaned in to give him a small peck on the lips, before turning her attention back to the TV.
"We have to sign legal documents for pets too in my world, but they don't take that long." I giggled.
I looked up at the tv and furrowed my eyebrows.
What even is she watching? Why is that girl blue?
"What are you watchi-?"
"Can you shut the f-?"
"She's watching The Voodoo Chronicles." Liam quickly cuts her off. She rolled her eyes and gave me a smug look.
"Oh, what's that about?" I asked. Before Asralyn could open her mouth, Liam was quick to respond.
"I honestly don't know, but all I know is that it's about these voodoo dolls that are being controlled by this crazy warlock." He explained.
"Interesting. Do warlocks also exist?" I wondered curiously.
"Ugh! She and these questions!" Asralyn groaned in annoyance, throwing her hands up.
"Yes, they do, considering I am one." He chuckles lightly, ignoring his girlfriend's rude remark.
"You're?" I say in shock, and he nods his head.
Wait, why am I shocked? Of course he is. I'm in a world of magic after all.
"And no, there are no wizards here. They live in their own world." He makes sure to clarify.
"Wizards too? Wow, this is- this is a lot to take in. So it's just witches and warlocks that live here? Oh wait, there was this one woman I saw the first time I arrived here. She was green." I remembered.
"Ah! A nymph. Tricky creatures they are. I would be careful around them." He warned me.
"Why?" I asked.
"Because they trick you and then steal from you. Not many are trustworthy." He explained.
Then the realisation hit me as soon as he said that. I haven't seen my wallet in days since I arrived here in Vomaland. Not even my phone, which, I didn't really miss. It was an old rusty Nokia anyway.
"Oh no." I mumbled worriedly.
"Let me guess; she stole something?" Liam correctly assumed, giving me a knowing look..
I just nod, sighing deeply in annoyance.
There goes all the identity I have. Now I certainly wanted to go home.
"Aww, that's so sad for you." Asra mocked, fake pouting.
"You know what else is sad? Whatever 'bad' you had growing up, you clearly deserved it, because of the kind of bitch you're!" I taunted back.
Her mouth gaped open in shock, then turned into a hurt expression. Liam scratched his head awkwardly, looking anywhere but us.
"H- how did you-? Did you tell her?!" She exclaimed in anger, asking.
"I told her nothing, just that you had it bad growing up." He answered her question.
"That's still telling! You know what? I'm going to bed. I don't care if it's still day, I don't need this." She said, getting up from the couch and putting Delphi on the floor, then ran up the stairs. I flinched once I heard the door slam loudly.
Me and Liam sat there awkwardly for a moment.
"I should've turned her into a toad like last time. She always does stuff like this, then gets upset when someone doges her back." He breaks the silence, saying.
Hold on a second...
"Did you just say you turned her into a toad?" Now if that doesn't make me satisfied, I don't know what does.
"Yeah. It was only one time though. She was going too far." He replied.
"Why are you even with her if she behaves like this? If my boyfriend was acting the same way she was, I wouldn't even hesitate to dump him on the spot!" I said, truthfully.
"People call me stubborn for staying with her all these years, but the reason I stay with her is because I believe she can change."
Oh...he's one of THOSE people in a relationship.
"And how has that worked out?" I rhetorically asked.
"Look, we've been together for 23 years. That's the longest I've even been in a relationship. I've seen the kind of side of her. The sweet, funny, charming-"
"One second, did you say 23 years?" Did I hear him right? So they're childhood sweethearts? Poor boy has been suffering all his life.
"We're witches and warlocks, remember?" He reminded me.
Oh right, I forgot they live for ages.
"Right, I forgot, sorry." I laughed lightly.
"Continue."
Dang it, why did I tell him to continue? He doesn't realize how toxic his relationship with this girl is!
"I've seen how kind and sweet she can be. Once she gets used to you, she'll be less-you know-moody." He defended her.
Well gee, how has that worked out for most people?
"I hope so. I've been in a fight before, I can take her." He gave me a confused look after I said that.
"Take her where?"
Oh for fucks sake!
"Never mind, it's nothing. Just tell me where I will be sleeping so I too can take a nap. That bed on the boat was not comfortable." I tell him, standing up, changing the subject.
He got the signal though, and nodded, standing up as well and leading me upstairs.

"Liam?" I called as we walked around the street market, shopping for groceries. Liam thought it would be a good idea to get away from the house after the incident with Asra yesterday. Well, some of them didn't even look close to groceries. Some vegetables were weirdly shaped. I think the ones I'm currently looking at are supposed to be tomatoes.
It has been 2 weeks since I've been in this what you call 'magical' world, and I was becoming homesick. I just hoped that the queen and princess can figure everything out so I can go home.
"Hm?" He hummed, picking up an oddly shaped lettuce, and looking at the price. Despite this being a completely non-human world, apparently the people here too have to pay for things, the only difference being that they used coin and not cash or card.
"How old are you?"
"112." He answered. He put the lettuce in the cart, and reached over the other side to grab the odd-shaped tomatoes.
"You're that old? How old is Asralyn then?" I wondered. I removed a piece of hair from my face that got caught up in the cold breeze, and placed it behind my ear.
"She's 89. You know, you do ask a lot of questions." He chuckles.
"Oh, sorry." I apologized, giggling.
"It's okay. I'm kind of the same." He said, picking up an apple. At least those were normally shaped.
We walked around a bit more, until someone suddenly bumped into me, causing me to almost fall.
They catch me immediately, preventing me from falling.
"Thanks. Should've looked where I was going." I giggled.
"No problem." The male voice replied. I noticed a little Irish accent in his tone. I looked up and saw a man with sea-blue eyes and brown hair. His ears also appeared to be leaf-shaped.
"Just uhh, be careful next time, okay?" He advised, and I nod in reply. For some reason, he looked to be nervous.
He walks away, leaving just me and Liam again.
"That's weird." I heard Liam say suddenly.
"What is?" I asked, confused.
"I've never seen that elf before. Especially one from Drudour. Actually, elves have never been seen in towns or villages at all. They're mostly always in the woodlands, which is their home." He replied, watching the elf walk away.
I shrugged and said, "I don't know. Maybe he's visiting someone?"
"Probably." We soon finished shopping and headed home.
