CHAPTER 3

"Asra? Babe, I'm home!" Liam calls his girlfriend as we walked inside their house.
"Take your shoes off, please." He ordered, kindly, taking off his as well. I obeyed and took them off, including my coat. I placed my coat on the small couch that was near the entryway.
"Asralyn?!" He calls her again, but slightly louder.
"What?!" I heard the female voice call.
"We have a guest!"
"Is it Anya?" The woman asked eagerly.
"No!" Liam answered back in a shout.
Shortly after, a woman with long black hair came out into view on top of the stairs. She gave me a less welcoming look.
"Who is this?" She asked, but in more of a rude tone. Her voice sounded Australian.
I wonder what her nationality is for this world, if it isn't a dream.
"This is Kara. She fell into the river, and I was wondering if she could borrow some of your clothes until her's dry, and then she can go home." Liam answered.
She huffs in annoyance. "No." She refuses, crossing her arms over her chest.
"Asra, please? She'll be gone before you know it." He begged. She let out an annoyed groan, before rolling her eyes and heading back to what I assume was her room.
Well, she was welcoming.
"Don't mind her. She's not used to meeting new people." Liam informed.
"It's okay." I chuckled lightly, not really bothered. Asra came back a few minutes later with a dress and undergarments.
She threw it down, and I immediately caught it.
"Let me know when she's gone." She demands, before heading back to her room, slamming the door.
Is it just me or does she seem to not like me?
"You can change in the bhoot down here. It's to your left, over there." He tells me, pointing toward it.
"Thanks." I replied, before making my way toward the bathroom, and walking inside.
I didn't know what he meant until I walked in, and realized that it was a bathroom. It was a small bathroom, with marble walls and floors, and a small bath in the corner. It also had one of those non-glass, no curtain showers on the wall. There was a small clothes basket next to where the bath was. It looked like a normal elegant bathroom if you asked me.
I took my wet clothes off, and put them on the little drying rack that was nearby, and put on the new ones.
Once done, I checked myself in the mirror.
Just as I expected; i still look a mess like before.
I sighed and left the bathroom. I walked back downstairs to see Liam making tea.
He turned around once he heard my footsteps. "Oh, you're done. Well, just give your clothes a few hours to dry up and I'll get you home. I'm assuming you're visiting someone?"
I shook my head and said, "Umm, no, actually." He frowned in confusion once I said that.
"Then...why are you here?" He asked, confused.
"That's actually what I'm trying to figure out. I don't exactly know where I am. I just woke up in this forest." I explained. His eyes shifted away from me for a moment, as if he was thinking about something.
"They did it again." He whispered in annoyance, shaking his head.
"Okay, Uhmm...so this kind of thing always happens. This place you see? It's called the planet Amoura. It's this like- magical world similar to earth, where all kinds of magic, including magical creatures, exists." My eyes widened in shock once he said that.
Magic exists? Here? There's no way this is real. He has to be joking. This has to be a dream. Then again, the things I saw earlier, especially with the little boy and Liam healing me with just his hand, makes me sort of believe it.
"Wait, did you just say that magic exists?"
"Yes, it does. Y-you were brought here by accident through a portal, and uhhh..." He began scratching his nose as he said that. "Well, there's only one person who can help you. The Queen of The Lonely Realm."
"The Queen of The Lonely Realm?"
"Yes, she can help you get back. It's a long way to go though, 6 days."
6 Days? What do you mean 6 days?!
"Why 6 days? Aren't there any planes? Busses?" I questioned.
"Travel isn't almost the same as earth where norms roam. You either take a boat or train. That's it pretty much." He answered, shrugging.
"We also take ships, but for other reasons." He added.
"So, considering trains and busses don't take long, I'm guessing we have to take a boat?" I asked him, raising a brow.
He nodded. "Yep."
I rolled my eyes in annoyance. This was going to be a long journey that I was not in the mood for.

"I'm sorry that Asra threw her bags at your head. It was uncalled for." Liam apologizes for his girlfriend's unkind behavior, setting the bags on a little table that was in front of a couch. We were aboard a boat, heading to The Lonely Realm.
"It's okay. Like you said, 'She's not very good at meeting new people.' I replied, sarcastically, using my fingers in air quotes.
He chuckles lightly and says, "Just give her time, she'll warm up to you soon." He assures me, friendly patting my back.
I nod in response, and sat down on the couch, as my feet were getting tired from standing too long.
"So, this Queen. How serious is she? Does she make all rules?" I asked him. He took a seat on the couch in front of me before answering.
"No, she only makes the royal rules based in her country. The Elders are who make all the rules and laws of this world." He answered.
"The Elders?"
"The Elders are what we call, 'The Magic Council.' " If you break one of them, you'll temporarily be stripped of your powers and locked up, or face other consequences." He explained. He reached over the table and picked up a piece of cheese and crackers.
"So, what exactly are the rules and laws of this world?" I questioned, curiously.
"Well, firstly, there are laws regarding your powers. There are certain powers you can have, and some that are extremely forbidden." He answered, taking a small bite of his cheese and crackers that he made into a sandwich.
"Powers such as, for example, fire and electricity, are illegal to be used here, and have been since a war centuries ago. So, when a child is born, the elders can see which powers they have by using this population screen, which instantly adds the information of the new baby born into the world, such as time of birth and such. If those powers are seen, you unfortunately have no choice but to give your child up and send them to the other world, stripping them of those powers."
"As for the rules, well, there is one rule that goes along with that law, but I unfortunately, can't tell you it." He added, finished explaining.
I looked at him in confusion and asked, "How come?"
He shrugged, "I don't know." His eyes began to twitch a little, and he rubbed them, pretending that they were itching.
I thought for a moment, trying to figure out if he just lied or not.
"Okay." I said, deciding to just brush it off, and because he could get in trouble by telling me.
