Chapter Fifteen
Natasha stormed through the house, past Amethyst, and straight into her room. She'd been in a horrid mood all afternoon after seeing Amethyst all friendly with Remy. Remy. Natasha groaned. She hated that girl and her "sweet and innocent" act. It showed poor character that Amethyst had been fooled by it.
With a sigh, Natasha pulled her ridiculously heavy science binder out of her equally ridiculously heavy backpack and dropped it on her desk. After pulling a pencil out of a nearby cup, she flipped the binder open to the report she'd been working on earlier in school. Natasha quickly set her timer for half an hour and began scribbling.
Ten minutes in, there was a tentative knock on the door and Amethyst stepped inside, somewhat embarrassed. Natasha looked up from her work and glanced over at Amethyst.
"Yes?" she asked, a slight edge to her voice. Amethyst winced a little, but kept her ground.
"What was up with Remy and you before?" she asked, walking over and sitting down on the edge of Natasha's bed. Natasha sighed and put down her pencil. So much for homework.
"We're not exactly best friends," Natasha admitted as she swiveled her chair around to face Amethyst. Amethyst couldn't help but let out a little snort.
"I could tell," she said sarcastically. Now this was a new side of Amethyst that Natasha hadn't yet seen. She raised an eyebrow and continued.
"I was just trying to protect you," Natasha said with a sigh. "I didn't want you to get sucked into her trap."
"Sucked into her trap?" Amethyst asked, clearly trying to suppress her laughter. Natasha shot her a look.
"You don't understand, she has ulterior motives for--"
"Ulterior motives? I think you've been reading too many murder mysteries," Amethyst commented, this time unable to contain her laughter and chuckling lightly. Natasha ignored her.
"Trust me, you don't want to get involved with her," she warned Amethyst, pushing herself out of her chair and walking over to the bed. "Now if you don't mind, I kind of have some research to do-" she nodded over at the collection of books lining the storage space of her bed frame. Walking over, she pulled out How to Pick the Best College For You and A Guide to Harvard Acception. Trying to cover the titles as best she could with her hands, she motioned towards the open door. "We can discuss this more later, if you want," she said, though she really, really, hoped that Amethyst wouldn't want to.
"Okay, sure," Amethyst agreed and headed towards the door, though somewhat reluctantly. "Have a fun...study session."
"Sure, whatever."
Natasha, clearly not in the mood for jokes, followed Amethyst to the door and closed it just as she stepped out, almost smashing her foot in the process. She grumbled as she collapsed back onto her bed with the thick books. This was going to be a long exchange session.
What do you think is happening between Natasha and Remy? Will Remy betray Amethyst? Will Natasha betray amethyst?
