Regret
^^ Snape > Ginny ^^
Snape followed her out of the castle and pleaded for her to stop and listen, but she refused. Ginny had heard enough, she didn't want to hear anymore from him. He caught up with her and grabbed her arm, "please let me explain, how much of that did you hear?" He asked desperately, "enough, I heard what you called me! and how I seem to repulse you!" She growled trying to pull her arm away from his grasp. "Then you didn't hear what Potter said 2 seconds before! he accused me of trying to take you from him... Ginevra, I had to say something to diffuse his suspicions! Please understand me." He begged, "Harry would not say that! Ginny insisted, "wouldn't he? Do you not remember that time in the forbidden forest?" Snape sighed,
"Well he didn't mean it, he was just being insecure. He was being unnecessarily jealous!" Ginny scolded, it cut through him like a knife. 'Unnecessarily'.
"Yes he was being jealous, but with good reason." Snape snapped, Ginny looked up at him and tried to read him, her eyes latching on to his desperately yet full of frustration. "What do you mean?" She asked nervously. "Really Ginevra? You cannot see?" Snape sighed, he slapped his arms against his sides in defeat and turned on his heel to leave. He wanted to tell her how he felt but his insecurities made him give up for the moment, he didn't want to say something he would later regret out of frustration.
Ginny walked the corridors slowly, not really taking much in as she went. It was time for the feast and although she wasn't hungry she knew people would ask questions of she didn't turn up. "Gin!" A voice squawked from behind her causing her to spin around with a raving heart,
"Thanks for making me jump!" She grinned, "sorry sis." Ron laughed, "Harry told me that Snape was being a complete git earlier. Honestly, I'm surprised Harry didn't hex him! I would have..." Ron drawled on, Ginny was bored of hearing any more about the pair of them. "I don't want to talk about Harry or Snape OK?" She snapped, "alright, keep ya bush on!" Ron sighed, Ginny glared at him and entered the great hall. Taking a seat next to Harry.
Snape watched her from afar, he could tell she was distant from Harry. A part of him enjoyed it, but another part of him worried. What if she was upset? It would all have been his fault!
She was happy with Harry and then he got involved and threw them into the fire, his heart burned with a mixture of guilt and longing. Would his burning embers be mere ash by the time she saw how much he loved her? He didn't know, for he was only sure of one thing.
The fact that he would never give up on her, not now. He no longer cared for his foolish pride nor his fragile heart, if she still chose Potter after he fought for her?
He would willingly carry that burden to his grave.
'I will fight for you Ginevra.' He thought to himself, images of her tear filled eyes haunted him,
"I'm sorry..." He spoke aloud, causing Minerva to look at him in confusion. "Are you alright Severus? Only you seem distracted?" She asked, she didn't want to ask what he was 'sorry' about as she knew only too well he would probably tell her to mind her own business.
"I'm quite alright Minerva, I seem to have said something out of place and caused upset." He drawled silkily. "And what exactly is new here?" She smirked, trying hard to contain a laugh.
Snape glared at her and narrowed his eyes, "they usually deserve it." He spat simply, "and this time they do not." Minerva nodded in understanding. "Indeed." He spoke slowly, cutting like a freshly sharpened knife.
