third person p.o.v

everyone in auradon was staring at prince ben and soon to be prince carlos as they celebrated their engagement. belle and adam watched as their son talked to his fiancé, never have they seen their son so happy. so filled with joy. they were happy for him, all they ever wanted was for their children to be happy.

"carlos and i would like to thank you for celebrating our engagement with us today. i couldn't be prouder or happier to call you my prince. so, raise your glasses, to your future prince of auradon!" everyone raised their glass along side of carlos and ben.

"speech your royal furness." jay yelled at carlos. "yes! speech your royal canine." evie joined in on the teasing, to the others it might've been confusing but carlos knew what they were doing.

"all i really have to say is that i'm glad i let myself be open to love as i've found it here in auradon. my background, it isn't pretty. my mother wasn't 
really a great mother so i never really knew what love was, what it felt like to have someone that really cared about me. when i met ben, i felt like i found everything i was missing. ben taught me how to love, he showed me love and care... i couldn't be more grateful to have him in my life. i hope you all find your ben some day, but not my ben. my ben is my ben." the crowd cheered and carlos felt ben wrap his arms around his waist.

"gosh i love you so much." ben whispered as he kissed carlos' cheek. "i know, i know."

after a bit of dancing and just celebrating ben and carlos, bella decided to speak. well not really, ben and her had already talked about this before hand and it was time to put it in motion.

"almost year ago, auradon opened its doors to four people from the isle. we know who these four are, we've grown to love them. they became our classmates, our neighbors, our team members, but most importantly our friends. recently, we decided to open our doors again and bring in four more new kids. young kids unlike last time. children are our future, that includes the kids from the isle. so today, today will go down in history as the day auradon open itself to the outside world and brought down the barrier. with these past events, we learned that evil can inhabit anyone. if we can forgive our own, we can forgive them too. so, mal, evie, jay, join me up here will you?"

evie looked at her girlfriend, sorry i mean fiancée, with pride. she was proud of bella, more than ever. that girl right there, that's evie's girl and she wasn't afraid of showing it. evie, mal and jay rushed up the stairs to join ben, bella and carlos.

"today, i stand here with the people who will join me in making auradon home to those who chose to make it their home. to new possibilities, to new friends and family's. would anyone like to say something?" bella turned to look at her friends. mal raised her hand slightly and bella nodded in support. she walked past her, she went towards fairy godmother to get something.

"i had an awful idea after hades' attack. my idea was to close the barrier for good, but i was wrong. you never know where the bad is gonna come from, and you never know where the heroes are gonna come from either. without uma and her pirates... auradon would be gone. and without hades, my father, audrey would be gone. we are all capable of good and bad, no matter which side of the barrier we come from. auradon is lucky to have a queen that is open minded. we're lucky to have these two wonderful siblings as our leaders, open minded and ready for change. like bella said, we'll all work together to bring auradon to it's full potential. as long as we're all willing to change, nothing is stopping us."

the crowd cheered as mal stepped back to regroup with her friends. no one was mad, no one seemed ready to throw rotten fruit at her. mal sighed in relief, she felt happy but empty.

"i couldn't of said it better myself. mal, join me would you? all of you, join me." bella said as she walked back with fairy godmothers wand. it was happening, they were bringing down the barrier. together.

"one... two... three!" they all counted together as mal pointed the wand at the barrier. what came out of the wand looked like pixie dust, it twirled around as it brought down the barrier on auradon's side and built a bridge. the vk's eyes sparkled as they watched the barrier on the isles side was brought down.

back on the isle, all the people looked at where the barrier once stood and at the bridge. they were scared to walk past it, as if it would reappear once they tried to cross over.

"they did it... they did it!" uma cheered at harry picked her up and spun her around. 'maybe mal wasn't all that bad.' uma thought as harry put her down.

[read once it's over]

"hey dragon breath, come here." uma called mal to come over and mal did as told. "what's up shrimpy?" she asked using the nickname the pirate despised, but since it was mal calling her shrimpy uma didn't care.

"maybe i am ready to give this a try." uma pointed from her to mal. she had been thinking latently about the recent events, maybe it wasn't such a bad idea to give love a try.

"are you serious? oh my god!" mal felt herself become the frilly princess she's always despised as she hugged uma while letting out a cute, but loud, shriek of excitement.

"okay woah i'm sorry, i just got excited." mal blushed as uma responded with a smirk.

"i get it, i'm quite the catch."
"oh shut up and kiss me."
"don't have to ask me twice."

before they could actually kiss they were interrupted by a certain someone.

"shouldn't you ask for my blessing before going after my daughter?" hades asked from behind the girls. mal turned around to look at her father. "dad!" she went to hug him, and as hades hugged her he kept an eye on uma.

"didn't think you liked calamari." hades said as mal pulled away. "dad stop." mal took uma's hand and smiled proudly at her father, she felt happy and whole. finally. also, hades, by the way calamari is squid. uma can turn into an octopus not a squid. there's a difference.

"you're right, it's too early in the relationship to meet the parents anyways." "just ignore him." mal whispered to uma, as if hades wasn't inches away from them. "right, well if you'll excuse us we're gonna go dance." mal pulled uma to the dance floor and hades only stared, he was ready to be in mal's like again. be the father he could've been, if only maleficent wasn't such a pain to live with.

"well good afternoon good sir, fancy a dance?" harry asked hades as he walked towards him. oh no, harry no. harry stop right there. hades looked at hook's kid, confused as to why he would ask him to dance. "sorry kid, too old for you." harry simply shook his head. "no, i insist." hades couldn't help but laugh. "you hook men never know when to quit huh? listen kid, i don't want to dance but that blond over there won't stop eyeing you." hades pointed at chad, who was in fact eyeing harry up and down. as harry turned to look over at chad, hades walked away and went somewhere away from harry. he wasn't going to catch a case.

"what do you say you and me go exploring? i'll do a gap year. jungles or icebergs?" jay asked his boyfriend as they reunited. "both!" gil said before attacking jay in with a massive hug.

"hey i have two little fellas, and two little ladies i want you to meet." gil stepped aside and introduced jay to his siblings, four twins oh my. two identical girls and two identical boys. "you don't have a twin do you?" jay asked slightly concerned. why was gil the one not born a twin? "oh of course nor, don't be silly."

"hey, i'm jay." jay introduced himself to his boyfriends siblings, if only his gang had gotten along  with gil's gang, then they could've been a couple long ago. if only.

"carlos, i'm actually really nervous to meet your mom." ben said to carlos as they looked over to see more parents coming over from the isle. so far no one was attacking anyone.

"you're scared? she's cruella de vil, i'm petrified." dude looked at ben and shook his little doggy head, he had a point ya know. "wait till i tell her i wanna be a vet." cruella was going to have a heart attack, not only was she going to be meeting her sons fiancé, she was going to meet his talking dog and learn about his love for dogs and all creatures.

"we should tell people." evie said as she looked over at the auradon and isle kids playing together. "you tell them. you'll be their queen one day." evie smiled at that, she wanted to be a princess so bad but never imagined herself becoming a fucking queen.

"but maybe we should wait, after all this is ben and carlos' engagement party. it would be like you proposing on their wedding day."

"should you meet my mom?" evie asked bella suddenly as they walked over to their friends, "if that's something you want me to do." "yes!" evie wanted to show her mom how someone like bella liked her for who she was and not just her looks. prove her wrong ya dig.

ben and bella began to walk back as they decided to give their friend some space to talk.

"we haven't had a moment for ourselves since last week, so how are things? i see you and evie made up, like big time." ben raised his head and pointed at his neck. "she missed a spot." bella blushed as she and evie has gotten carried away back in her office.

"yeah, we made up." bella and ben walked in a comfortable silence for a while before bella spoke up.

"do you ever regret it? giving the crown up?" ben stopped walking at looked at his sister. this questions came out of nowhere. "why do you ask?" he asked. he never really thought about it, did he regret it? bella stopped walking, but she didn't turn around to face her brother. they were a few feet away but at that moment bella felt like she was miles away from reality. the reality of everything hit her like a bus.

"i don't know, i mean i did grow up right next to you. i was there for your lessons on being king, i saw the glee in your eyes when you wore dads crown. you would talk hours on end about being king. this was your dream. did i make you give up your dream?" bella felt a pain in her heart as she asked that question. her dream was ben's dream, but ben was raised with fulfill these expectations. not bella.

"you're right, it was my dream... at first. after a while, it became less of a dream and more of an expectation to fulfill. it stopped being my dream and then it became dads dream. i didn't know how to tell him i didn't want the crown, he would go on and on about how i was going to be a mighty king and get myself a mighty queen. i don't know, i feel like i let him down by passing over the crown to you but i couldn't continue to lie. i love helping people, but i rather do it in a different way. so no, i don't regret it. you saved me from living my life as a lie, when mal told me you wanted to be queen i saw you as a way to get out. it's always been your dream, i was just a fool for not realizing it sooner. you've done a lot in your time as queen, i know damn well there's more to come." bella finally turned to look at ben. ben smiled his signature warm loving smile. he walked towards his sister to hug her.

"so, what are you going to do with your life after college?" bella asked once they pulled away. "maybe become a teacher." "i could see that for you."

"hey, when carlos and i get married do you want to be my best man?" ben asked as they continued to walk again. "only if you'll be mine at my wedding." ben stared at his sister for a second before realizing what she meant. "what? i mean, when? how? i??" bella shook her head and started run, sis careful now you're wearing heels.

"it's a secret." she yelled as ben chased after her. just like when they were kids.
