third person p.o.v
evie wiped away her tears as she walked down the stairs. it was time for her to be a leader and lead her friends to hades. she would make hades come to auradon, even if he didn't want to. she'll force him. she's never lost anyone close to her, and bella wasn't going to be the first person she was going to lose.
"let's go, we don't have much time." evie said as she looked at jay and the others. jay nodded and they all began to head out, evie felt like crying. that's all she wanted to do, cry. 'i hurt bella and ben was right, if bella died it would be my fault. i have to own up to it.' evie thought as they ran back to auradon prep. she shook her head, she had to focus on the mission.
"jay!" evie tossed the keys to jay once they reached the parked car at the entrance of auradon prep. so much running in one day, evie and the others were kinda tired not gonna lie. jay caught the keys and didn't waste any time to get the car going.
"hey, calm down okay. you're going to save her, i know you will." jay tried to calm evie down as she seemed ready to start hyperventilating. evie could only offer a weak smile in return. jay began to drive, going as fast as he could. he was definitely going over the speed limit, but he didn't care. who was going to stop him? everyone was asleep.

while evie and the others had run off to get hades, ben and carlos were getting ready to take bella to the castle. they couldn't keep her in fairy cottage forever, audrey could return and really leave her for dead. carlos was carrying bella bridal style as ben was having trouble doing anything really. i mean carrying your almost dead sister back to the place you two grew up in isn't what ben pictured himself doing, well ever.
"ben, i know i can't promise you everything will be okay but you have to stay strong. for bella and yourself. bella wouldn't want to see you like this." carlos tried to find the right words to use but he couldn't think really. whatever he said would go in one ear and come out the other.
"how would you know? none of you know her as well as i do, do you even know her favorite color? her favorite food? no, none of you know her like i do." ben couldn't stop himself from snapping at carlos, he knew carlos was right but he was hurting. "you're right, i'm sorry." carlos knew ben didn't mean to snap, all he knew was he had to be there for ben and bella. and evie.
"i'm sorry." ben turned around and looked at carlos. "here, let me take her. i should be the one to carry her, she's my sister after all." ben went to take bella from carlos' hands but carlos wouldn't give her up easily. "no ben, you just lead us to the castle. don't worry, i'll be careful." ben just shook his head and extended his arms for carlos to hand her over. carlos sighed in defeat, ben wasn't going to give up so he handed bella to ben.
"guys wait for me!" dude's voice could be heard behind them, they left him in the cottage... oof poor dude. "this way, i know a few shortcuts." ben said as dude caught up to them.
as they walked ben thought about what was going to happen. what if they defeat audrey before hades gets here and their parents wake up? will they be mad at ben? even though none of this was his fault, he couldn't help but blame himself. he's always been overprotective of bella, even when she proved she could take care of herself. bella was the same way though. bella would take the blame for anything ben did, he'd stand up for him and really anyone that needed saving from a bully.
ben didn't know what he'd do if he lost his sister. all those times they played together in the castle, chasing one another and causing trouble when they got bored of ben's king lessons. if she did die, looking back at those memories would only bring pain rather than joy. ben wasn't ready for that. no one is ever ready for that.
"tell me about her, the things only you'd know." carlos said to ben as they walked. ben looked down at his sisters face, the stories he could tell about her, there were many. where to begin? it was a long walk, he had time to tell them all if he wanted to.

"how do we draw her out?" uma asked as she paced around the room. audrey could be anywhere and they were out of clues. there were no more clues that could tell them where she could be. mal was running out of hope and energy. is audrey got anymore powerful she would lose, but losing wasn't a possibility.
"surrender maybe? if she thinks were ready to give up then she'll come out and we surprise her." mal lifted her head up to look at uma. she wanted to apologize for lying but this wasn't the time. or was it?
"uma, i... i'm sorry, i'm sorry for lying and for anything else i've ever done that has caused you pain." mal stood up from the couch, she didn't know why but it was too late to sit back down.
"mal, there's nothing you can say that will make up for what you did. the damage has been done. just save your apology for someone who actually wants to hear it." uma didn't even look at mal. she wasn't ready to forgive mal, she was ready to open up her heart to somebody who ended up only lying and hurting her.
"uma, bella saw something in you and today i saw it too. please, i know that i messed big time but let me make it up to you. yes i lied, and i feel so unworthy of forgiveness. you don't have to forgive me now, but please let me show that it won't always be like that. uma, i really like you and i can't believe it took me so long to realize that." mal felt like she was crying, maybe she was but she didn't care.
"mal, i like you too but you have to understand that not everyone can just forgive you that easily. it's going to take some time, it took everything in me to open myself up to you and auradon... but just like that you were able to make me retreat back into my shell. just, give me time." uma walked out, she needed some fresh air. she felt like she was being suffocated in there. she liked mal, she really did but what mal did wasn't going to be easy to get over. how could she even think closing the barrier for good was for the best?
"life is not a storybook but life unfolds in chapters. turn the page and start to make amends." mal sang quietly to herself. she had to go out and look for audrey herself. so what if she was tired? everyone around her depended on her and she had to protect auradon. she promised bella, ben, and auradon.
"there's no pre-written guarantee of "happily ever after, step into your greatness before your story ends." mal walked towards the door, she had to finish this before it was too late.
"we need to go after audrey, she's probably watching us right now." mal said to uma as she walked towards her. uma nodded in agreement and looked up. "where are you bitch? show yourself, unless you're too scared!" uma said to the sky, they were right. audrey was watching them, she had stopped as watching people cry got boring. now that uma and mal were fighting, she was interested again.
"see you in the playground, unless you're too scared to actually face us; a sea witch and fairy!" uma never really liked audrey, she was pretty but had an ugly personality. "a sea witch and a half demi-god half fairy." mal corrected uma as she held up hades ember. "he's like, my dad." mal bragged, uma nodded in approval.
"you heard that? a sea witch and a half god half fairy!" uma repeated. they couldn't see audrey, but oh was she getting mad. she wasn't scared to face them, she didn't care what they were she knew she could take them down easily. she had maleficent's scepter after all. however, mal was maleficent's daughter so it would be more powerful in her hands than in hers, but audrey wasn't ready for that conversation.

back on the isle of the lost...
"i'm not going." hades said as he laid back down on his couch. "last time i checked, i didn't ask if you wanted to. i'm telling you your coming with us, whether you like it or not." evie crossed her arms as she gave hades her best 'stern mother look.' hades was waisting their time and she was ready to grab him by the ear and drag him to auradon.
"you can't speak to me like that, i was a god!" hades yelled, he wasn't going to let some sad teenager walk into his lair and tell him what to do. not again. no sir not again.
"you WERE a god! look, do this for mal. it would mean a lot to her if you came with us." hades looked at evie and laughed. "do this for mal? really? that's the best you got? the kid doesn't care about me so why bother." hades put his shades back on and turned to look the other way.
"i know mal, she's like a cookie. hard on the outside but soft in the inside." "you mean a store bought cookie?" celia asked making hades laugh. evie just ignored her comment and continued.
"look, mal and i grew up without father's. hell, i don't even know who my father is but mal does. you're her dad, be there for her now. make up for the time lost, do this for her and she'll learn to love you. be the parents maleficent couldn't be for mal. show you're better than her." hades stayed quiet, was she right? could mal learn to love him if he went and saved some princesses life?
"alright alright i'll go, but it's going to cost you." hades gave in, he too was a softie like his daughter. all the tough people were just big old softies on the inside. "i'm sure the queen will be happy to negotiate with you once you bring her back to life." evie felt relieved. she was going to get her girlfriend back!
"don't tell me you're going to have to chain me up to take me back." hades said once they met up with the guys, harry was holding a pair of handcuffs as gil and jay talked. "yeah, sorry about that." celia said as she began to walk back towards the entrance. hades sighed and let himself be handcuffed. 'the things i'll do for my daughter.' he thought as they began to walk out of his lair. but hey, at least he got to leave the island after so many years of being trapped in.

"and she took the blame for me. she was in time out for a long time but she didn't care. to this day, i still apologize but she still continues to says that it's okay and i don't need to apologize." ben smiled weakly as he remembered the time he threw up in the library and couldn't clean it up. bella tried to help but as their mother approached, she pushed ben out of the room and took the fault. ben never understood why bella did it but he was forever in her debt. after all, it was expensive carpeting and a really long time out.
"she's a great sister isn't she?" carlos held on to ben's hand as they stared at bella. they made it to the castle and had brought her into her room. "yeah, she is." ben looked around and admired his sisters room. it was painted light brown, her favorite color. the walls were decorated with picture frames, mood boards, a few posters, some of her drawings and sketches. each picture frame had a different picture, some of bella and ben as babies and some of them as teens. others had pictures of her and evie, her and the vk's. she even had a picture of evie, and pictures of her friends without her. her camera and sketchbooks on her desk with a picture of her and everyone she cared about.
her collection of stuffed animals were neatly placed in a corner next to the violin she gave up on. her bookcase that showcased her favorite books and few trophies was in the corner next to a cute small chair and some cushions, her little reading area. the lights around her closet door were turned off and her plants were neatly placed in order from smallest to largest, thought they all looked exactly the same size.
ben walked over to where bella kept her stuffed animals and grabbed the one he knew bella loved the most. a triceratops ben had given her when she was in her dinosaurs phase. her second favorite was a moose that was dressed like a queen, you can guess why she also loved that one. ben walked back to bella's bed and placed the stuffed dinosaur in her arms.
"i never knew she was into astronomy." carlos pointed towards the telescope by the window and a tapestry with the solar system. "yeah, she and mom love looking at the stars. they always dragged me with them to look at them. we'd set up a blanket and pillows, she and i would lay between our parents as we stared at the sky. bella would point and tell me the name to each constellation, she was able to convert me into an astronomy geek. we would stay up reading any and every book we had on astrology until we passed out." ben ran his fingers over the telescope, when bella was brought back he would make it his mission to spend more time with his sister. bring their childhood back to life.
"tell me about the trophies." carlos not only wanted to learn more about his future sister-in-law, but he also wanted to make sure ben didn't just focus on his sister dying but the time he had spent with her. carlos didn't want ben to lose any hope.
"well she's really into photography and auradon prep has many competitions," ben began, he was proud of the talents his sister had even when she hid them. when bella came back, ben would make sure to remind her how proud he is of her. bella would always praise him for his accomplishments, it was time for ben to do the same.

uma and mal made their way back to the grounds of auradon prep, audrey was no where to be seen but she was coming. just needed to pick someone up before she arrived.
"maybe she wasn't actually watching us." uma said as she looked around. no pink smoke or lighting, no sign of audrey. mal shook her head, she knew audrey had to be watching. why would she pass an opportunity to hurt mal yet again?
"help me mal!" celia's voice could be heard but she was no where to be seen. then it came, pink lighting and pink smoke. audrey had arrived. oh not only was she here, but she had celia with her. that meant evie and the others came back! 'hopefully hades is with them.' uma and mal thought as they got closer, their backs touching as they looked around.
"yeah! save your little friend mal!" with that mal felt herself transform into her dragon form. uma walked away as to not get hurt. she didn't know what to do now though, she couldn't transform into her octopus form as there's no body of water near them. she would have to help from the ground then. unless mal took her with her.
mal flew up to the top of auradon prep where audrey was with celia. mal had let out a giant growl as she spit fire at audrey, but she was able to shield herself as the scepter got rid of the firey breath. audrey let out a maniacal laugh as she began to zap mal. luckily mal was able to move away from each zap the scepter threw at her. the ember wasn't working still.
"help me mal!" celia yelled again. audrey wrapped her arm around celia's neck and brought her closer to her. "careful not to fry your little vk buddy." audrey knew that with celia by her side mal wouldn't dare try anything again. mal hit the ember with her fire but nothing happened. the ember wasn't going to work and she didn't know where hades was.
audrey took this opportunity to zap mal again, this time actually hitting her. audrey let out an ugly cackle but it was cut short as celia began to squirm around trying to get out of audrey's grasp. "hold still you little brat." audrey said as she tightened her grip on celia.
back down on the ground, uma's shell necklace began to shine again. "we're stronger together." she said as she looked at it and then at mal. uma pushed away any anger she felt towards mal and replaced it with positive thoughts.
"we're strong together! stronger together! i'm right here mal! regain your might and ignite! i'm right here babe, i'm right here! regain your might and ignite!" uma didn't mean to let the word 'babe' slip out but mal was happy to hear it. with uma's help, the embers light came back. it's magic came back! the power of the gays am i right? haha just kidding... unless ?
mal flew back up to where audrey was, she didn't notice mal at first as she was too busy tormenting a child. when she turned around she seemed frighten for a bit but that was over quickly as she got ready to zap mal again. this time both girls zapped one another, the magic of the scepter and the ember crashing. the blue and pink clashing together as they fought, like in that one scene from harry potter and the deathly hallows part two.
the scepter almost overpowered the ember but as uma cheered on mal the ember overpowered the scepters magic and knocked audrey back. she fell down and like that, audrey was taken care of.
mal landed near audrey as she transformed back to her human self, being a dragon was exhausting. "mal!" celia hugged mal, as a way to thank her for saving her but also apologize for what she did to the ember. "it's okay, i've got you." mal said before she walked over to audrey's body. she knelt down and called for her. "audrey?" but there was no response. "oh no." mal whispered, though it wasn't a completely bad thing if audrey was dead. i mean, she did try to kill and take over auradon. she had it coming.
with audrey taken care of, the sleeping spell was gone and those who were turned to stone were brought back. however, one person she had hurt was still hurting. the damage audrey had done to bella wouldn't just reverse itself, she was close to dying and only one person could help her.
