ben's p.o.v

"bye benny boo." was all i heard before pink smoke filled all around me. what happened? what time was it? where's mal, uma and the others?

"ben?" i heard carlos from behind me. i turned around and saw him, jay and dude. they were just standing there, as if they were frozen in place. after a second or two they moved and i felt relieved. okay now where are evie and mal?

"ben..." carlos said my name but he wasn't looking at me. what was he looking at? i turned around to see what he was looking at and what i saw literally made my heart ache.

"b-bella?" i ran to my sister, she wasn't responding nor was she moving. was she even breathing? "bella!" i shook her but still no response. she's not breathing, there's no pulse? i can't tell, i'm not a doctor but she was warm, which meant she wasn't dead. if she was dead she would be cold... she's dying...

"ben, i think she's..." carlos didn't finish his sentence. she can't die, i won't let her. not now, not like this.

"bella wake up, it's me, ben. please, wake up. i know you're alive, stop pretending. c'mon, i love you bell, please don't leave us. you're too young to die." i felt carlos wrap his arms around me as jay came to stand next to us.

"ben..." bella whimpered, i knew it! she was still alive. "yeah, it's me. what happened? who did this?" i held her hand as she tried to answer. she was struggling to breath, and to move too. she wasn't bleeding so she wasn't hurt, but was she poisoned? what did audrey do to her?

"evie... she doesn't... love... me..." what was she talking about? of course evie loved her, everyone knew how much evie loved bella. they weren't exactly quite about how much they loved each other.

"i'm sorry ben..." was all she could say before her eyes closed and she stopped breathing. i could feel a pulse, but it was slow. she's dying, she's not dead yet.

"audrey probably placed a-a curse on her, w-we need to find mal and she can help us revive her. whatever audrey did, it can be reversed. right?" i looked at carlos for an answer but he didn't have one. none of us did.

"i'll go find evie, a-and mal. i'll bring them back and we can help her. yeah, yeah that seems right. take her inside, or find somewhere to take her. evie's place, the dorms, or even the fairy cottage. just make sure she doesn't..." i couldn't bring myself to say it. i won't let her die, i can't grow old without her by my side. who's going to be my best man at my wedding? who's going to be a godmother to my children? she's too young to die, i just can't let her die. if she does, then that's my fault. i won't let that happen.

"okay, just be careful. we'll take her inside and watch over her just please be careful." i smiled weakly at carlos, he wasn't going to hold me back and make me stay which was great. he kissed my cheek before he motioned jay to help him with bella.

with that i ran, i can't waste time. i need to find evie, tell her what's happening so she can go watch over bella. then mal who can help us find a way to get her back. yeah that's the plan.

after a a lot of running i spotted someone standing by the lake. it was a girl.... it was evie! great, okay ben catch your breath before you go over to her. okay that's it, great.

"evie! i'm so glad i found you, you need to head back to fairy cottage and be there for bella. i-i don't know what happened to her but-" evie cut me off.

"she's dead?"

"yeah well not, i don't know, how did you know?" she couldn't have already known, she probably just guessed. right? "you know what, i've broken so many hearts in the past. this time its different, her heart is like literally breaking. i missed this you know, breaking hearts after hearts. always gave me some type of thrill. i used to rule the isle with mal and the others." so when bella said evie didn't love her, she was being serious?

"you did this to her? what? i mean, how? did you poison her? stab her? breaking someone's heart doesn't cause that much damage. is audrey behind this?" i asked her. this must be some cruel joke.

"no! she won't get credit for my work! how dare you!" evie slapped me as, i take it, i offended her. "evie, stop this. this isn't you, just come back to fairy cottage and we can figure this out together." i tried to reason with her but nothing worked.

"let her die, i could care less." if she's under some type of spell the only one thing could break it. i'm sorry evie, but you need this. i pushed her into the water and bolted. i already wasted too much time with her, i need to find mal and even uma too. fairy magic and witch magic can really come in handy right now.

i ended up on school grounds, this is where i found mal. she was just standing there, she was crying.

"mal!" i ran up to her, she seemed fine. she wasn't hurt, physically at least. she was probably hurt emotionally.

"ben? ben! you're back! are the others back too?" she asked wiping away her tears. "back from where?" we didn't go anywhere, she's the one that left. "audrey, she turned you and the others to stone... how did you turn back?" she looked me over, she probably thought i was an illusion or something.

"i don't know... all i remember is one moment you and evie are arguing, then the next you and evie were gone and audrey had vanished." wait did she say i was turned to stone? what the fuck audrey, and she just left us like that? what if audrey came back and decided to smash us to pieces?

"what do you mean evie was gone?" she asked. "yeah, but i found her. actually that's why i'm here, i was looking for you. bella, she's dying, or at least that's what we think. evie, she said she did that to her. she broke her heart and now she's dying. we need you mal, help us get bella back." i know we had to stop audrey first but who knows, by the time we stop her bella might be dead.

"i- okay, i'll find uma and you go back to your sister. keep an eye on her, i won't take long." with that we parted ways.

hey i never asked why she was crying... i'll ask once she comes back. right now i need to focus on my sister.
