mal's p.o.v

we all ran outside to greet the guys and so we can finally head out to find audrey. i'm in serious need of a nap and audrey is getting in the way of that oof.

"ben!" bella went to hug her brother since last time she saw him, he was a beast. i wonder, would audrey have turned her into a beast too if she ran into her? or would she just kill her and take the crown?

"you're not gonna run away from me this time are you?" ben asked as they pulled apart from the hug. "i mean, it's not like you're going to turn into a beast again. are you?" bella stepped back just incase, don't blame her. you know, i kinda wished i had a sibling. wonder what it would be like growing up with a brother or sister. would i have been a good sister or a bad one?

"carlos kissed him when he was like still a beast." gil said out of nowhere. ah, true loves kiss works every time. two times today actually.

"carlos you furry fucker." uma and i said at the same time. i looked over at uma and she just gave me this huge grin, i'm glad we were able to get over our little feud. after weeks of being at each other's throats when we could've been-

"oh shut up, so did you guys find any clues in audrey's dorm?" carlos asked, oh we are not letting the whole 'furry fucker' thing go. i loved teasing carlos, he was like a little brother to me. so were evie and jay, my main goal is to always protect them. i'm doing such a great job at that aren't i? haha, not at all.

"okay, so we all think that audrey could be at the fairy cottage. we have no idea where it is, did she take you there?" i turned to look at ben, i feel like she must've brought him there. it only makes sense.

"every fairy godmother's day. where is fairy godmother when you need here." even if fairy godmother was here, i doubt she can take down my mother scepter. if that who posses it has so much anger within them, it's practically unstoppable. that's why we have hades ember, the only thing stronger than my moms scepter. he is a god after all.

"most likely turned to stone like our parents." right because audrey didn't just put them to sleep, she had to go and turn people to stone. great. uma came over to me and linked her arm with mine, woah okay yes i'm totally okay not nervous at all.

"well, let's go fine this bitch and finally take her down. it's not too far from here is it?" she asked ben. woah i'm hungry and sleepy, we better take down audrey before i pass out and go to sleep like everyone else.

"i don't think so, but it's better we go now before it gets dark." with that we left, uma still holding my arm. yeah i love that for me.

not only was it a long walk but it got pretty dark soon. love that for us. we had to be quick and sneaky once we reached the cottage, if audrey was here then it's best we don't let her know we're here.

ben was the first to go in, carlos behind him, then bella and evie. uma went from holding my arm to holding my hand, harry, jay and gil were the last to go in. we told celia to wait outside, we don't need her to get hurt. we thought we would surprise ambush audrey but she wasn't here. oh fuck me.

jay went up the stairs and came back to tell us she wasn't upstairs either. great, we're out of leads and who knows how long we have until she goes full mental on auradon.

then there was a knock, frantic knocking came from a closet. that wasn't audrey, was it? ben went to open the door, audrey wasn't stupid enough to lock herself in so who else could it be.

"chad?" ben opened the door and out of the closet came chad. i take it audrey put him in there, but why?

"i want my mommy." was all chad said as he sat in a fetus position. looks like the guys seen some stuff. "what happened..." chad flinched as ben went to help him up, oof poor guy. "what happened buddy?" ben asked again as chad finally let ben help him. "ben, ben, ben! you're face.." chad began to caress his face, was he about to kiss him? carlos better watch out, looks like he's got competition.

"she's gone? the doors open, i'm free. i'm free!" chad ran outside and just like that he was gone. okay woah. after chad left we all followed his lead and left the cottage. it felt weird being there, after all my mom did kinda force aurora to grow up here after all.

"oof, alright let's get this whole audrey thing taken care of already. what do you say girl? time to wrap things up?" uma grabbed onto my hand again as we began to walk away from the cottage. is this what evie and carlos feel, when bella and ben grab their hands like it's nothing. i'm not saying i'm in love but i am saying i'm willing to give love a chance.

"you know, once this is all over you're going to have to tell me how you two got over your little feud and decided to team up." bella joked as she notice our intertwined hands. right, i forgot she witnessed all the times uma and i got into heated arguments during the meetings.

"actually, mal promised she would fight for the kids to be freed from the isle." evie answered for me.

"what? mal," fuck, i forgot i told evie it was bella's idea. "yeah, about that..." time to clear things up i guess.

"no wait, bella we have to talk about this." evie just give me a second. "evie now's not the time-" she wouldn't let me speak. oh fuck oh fuck.

"talk about what?" i'm so sorry bella.

"i can't believe you thought that it was best we closed the barrier forever. the children are not the threat here, i thought you of all people would know better than that. i'm glad mal told me or else you would've just gone through with your plan. i love you, but i can't agree with what your doing here." evie had let go of bella's hand and backed away from her. crap.

"evie, i seriously don't know what you're talking about. it wasn't my idea to close the barrier for good, you know that my goal has been to bring the children over since day one. i- i can't believe you would even think that..." bella looked over at me, she knew it was my idea but she wouldn't say it. she probably knew that it would hurt evie even more. no one wants that.

"i have to tell you guys something. i lied to you," i looked at evie specifically. "it was my idea to close the barrier for good, to shut down the program. it was my idea, bella was against it so evie, don't be mad at her. i only brought it up, for auradon's safety." uma let go of my hand as she let out a scoff. shit.

"so we're saving your precious people, and your behinds for a lie? i knew it was a mistake to trust you. you're always out for yourself." no, uma don't say that please. "uma..." "save it."

"you know what? i actually thought you were brave, but you're nothing but a chicken. too scared to tell me i might never see my dad again." celia looked me directly in the eyes as she took the ember from my hand.

"celia, celia, celia no!" she threw it in the small bonfire that was filled with water.

"regain your might and ignite! regain your might and ignite." it was hopeless, the ember got in the water and there was nothing that could make it work again.

"harry, gil, let's go." with that uma and the two boys left and went after celia. "uma!" i yelled after her but it was hopeless. i looked over at my friends; they all looked hurt and i don't blame them.

"where are you going?" evie asked bella as she started to leave. "i'm going after them, or do you not trust me anymore?" evie said nothing and let bella go after uma and the others.

"evie, i'm so sorry. i was just, i was scared to tell you. i thought i was gonna lose my best friend." was all i could say. nothing i could say would undo the damage i had caused.

"closing the barrier was your idea? you told me it was bella's, you made me believe my own girlfriend could do something like that. and for what?" evie was hurt, and it was my fault. nothing i said could make me redeem myself.

"i did it for us, for our life here in auradon."

"for us? what about the kids that we left behind on that island? the kids that we promised. we were their only hope. i thought you were going to stand up for the vk's, but instead you lied to them. and you lied to jay. and you lied to carlos. you lied to me. we're your family." she's right, she's right and there's nothing that would change the fact that i betrayed everyone. them, bella, uma. uma, i thought things were going to be better for us but i fucked it up. i'm a fuck up, that's all i am.

"evie, please just-" i was interrupted by the sound of thunder and pink smoke. no, no, no, no.

audrey she... she turned them to stone. no this can't be happening. not right now.
