"queen bella!" lumière said. 'just breath' i kept telling myself. the trumpet players began to play as i came out. everyone began to cheer and applaud as i walked out, woah i know how to walk thank you.

"before we begin our evening of fun, i'd like to introduce a few friends of mine. i hope that we welcome them with not only our arms, but our hearts and minds open. we all deserve the chance to grow as individuals and i'm sure during their time here they'll realize that too. auradon please play nice and welcome our new vk's! come on out guys!" i stepped to the side and let the spotlight shine on uma, harry and gil as they began to walk out.

everyone was quiet. no one was saying a word, they all looked shocked but scared. okay maybe the need to see someone else interact with them other than me. that's how it was when the the other vk's arrived. yet, as if they read my mind, mal and jay went up the steps and offered their hands to the new vk's.

jay took harry and gil with him while mal took uma, everyone stared in confusion. my parents had no idea how to respond. this was the first time i had acted on spot without consulting my counsel, which was my family for now.

"why is everyone so serious? they're friends from back home, they're good. let's have fun guys!" mal began to dance with uma as the music began to play again. jay and gil joined while harry went to flirt with ben. evie soon joined them and so did carlos, taking his boyfriend with him as he didn't want to leave him alone with harry.

little by little many more people began to dance with the group. some talked to the new vk's, many complemented uma's dress, harry began to flirt with everyone, and gil just continued to dance, mostly copying jay's moves.

i was walking down when my parents stopped me. "why did yo-" i cut my dad off before he tried to scold me. "it is my duty to help my people and the people of the isle are my people, i saw these three and decided they needed my help most. but i also needed their help, to help me see and find great ways to help everyone. father i know you're still not on board with bringing more villain kids here, but i am their queen and i say that bringing them here will help all of us. now, if you'll excuse me i have a dance to attend." i bowed and went to join my friends.  you know, the whole my dad being a beast once doesn't help with my anxiety.

it was nice to see everyone dancing and welcoming in the new vk's. if they can be this open to them, then they can be open to any other vk we bring over. they can also be down to help the kids in whatever we need their help for.

i was having fun until i realized that i promised evie i would tell my parents about us tonight. i will, i'll do it because i am ready for everyone to see us together. to see who i really am, so i can be my truest self. but it was scary, what if they didn't accept me only because of my status. what if my parents get mad that both their children are gay? what if they start complaining that they'll never have grandchild?

"hey you okay?" evie asked, i looked up to realize everyone else was still dancing while i was just standing there in the middle. "yeah i'm fine." i smiled as i tried to get rid of any negative thoughts i had.

"okay well how about we get you something to drink, because it's obvious somethings on your mind." evie linked our arms together and walked me towards the snack table that had a giant punch bowl. isn't that a giant spill waiting to happen on a moving ship?

"here, drink up." evie handed me a cup and i thanked her. "hey is everything okay?" ben asked as he approached us. i nodded and just stared at my cup. my parents aren't capable of hating me right? they can't try to separate evie and i, i mean they'll accept me like they did ben, it's the only logical answer.

i guessed i stopped listening to everyone around me because when i looked up evie and ben had left to go talk to the others. i was left alone with my thoughts again, great.

suddenly the music changed and the crowd had gone of to the side as only my friends were in the middle of the dance floor. what's going on?

they began to sing and harmonize? oh my god what? evie was standing next to ben and uma, smiling at me as mal walked over to me.

"there, you see her sitting across the way. she don't gotta a lot to say, but there's something about her. and you don't know why, but dying to try. you wanna kiss the girl."

mal was singing as she extended her arm to me, i looked from her to evie and took her hand.

"yes, you want her. look at her, i know you do. possible she wants you too. there is one way to ask her, it don't take one word, not a single word. go on, and kiss the girl, kiss the girl."

oh my god what are they doing? was this planned? god evie has such a beautiful voice. mal left me in the middle of the dance floor as she joined uma, and evie while ben went over to the guys. they were surrounding me, great that totally doesn't make it seem like they're going to jump me.

"Sha-la-la-la-la-la, my, oh my. look at the girl, too shy. ain't gonna kiss the girl. Sha-la-la-la-la-la, ain't that sad. it is too bad, you're gonna miss the girl!"

everyone is so talented, what do they teach them on the isle? how to perform musical numbers in a heartbeat?

they all began to dance with me as they continued to sing, all except evie as she only walked behind whoever was dancing with me and kept singing, making eye contact with me at all times. this must be confusing everyone, especially my parents, but soon other people began to dance with me and sing along.

"kiss the girl"

they kept singing and it all finally clicked. ben and evie must've planned this out, when i was lost in my thoughts, of course it only makes sense.

soon everyone stopped passing me around and they formed groups again.

i laughed because the guys sounded funny and they looked weird trying to dance while bunched up. ben looked extremely funny standing next to them, he was dressed in a suit while the others weren't, it was just funny. why do i find everything funny when i'm nervous, makes me look crazy.

soon everyone was singing along until it was only evie, uma and mal. i felt someone pushed me towards evie as the song was coming to its end.

"you gotta kiss the girl, you wanna kiss the girl, you gotta kiss the girl"

they sang in union as evie walked towards me. now it was only her and i in the middle while everyone watched. i guess it started clicking in some people's heads, even though the lyrics were kiss the girl.

"go on, and kiss the girl."

evie and i were chest to chest. i looked into her eyes, asking if she was ready and okay with this. of course she was she just sang a while fuckinh song. soon we were both leaning in and boom, we kissed.

i felt all my fears and insecurities wash away as we kissed. we didn't take it too far obviously as people were watching but we stayed together after we finished our kiss. our foreheads we're leaning against one another and we held each other's hands, this felt straight out of a fairytale.

"i think your parents are waiting for you." evie whispered. right, this was all done in front of my parents. "i should go talk to them." i said it but didn't move. a few more seconds please. after a few more seconds, that i will forever cherish, i built up the courage to go speak to my parents.

"i should explain-" "oh honey you don't need to explain yourself to us. it's pretty clear what you were trying to tell us." my mom said hugging me. ah okay, not nasty words thrown at me yet. okay maybe i shouldn't be scared, this is going to be fine.

i waited for dad to say something but once mom and i pulled away we realized he was gone. woah okay. okay now i'm panicking.

"ladies and gentlemen, you attention please." i heard lumière say. we all turned around to look at him and there he was, with dad.

"evie grimhilde, please join us up here."
