evie's p.o.v

"hop on princess." bella pointed at the basket, i laughed as i took out the picnic basket and placed a pillow in it so it didn't hurt when i sat on it.

"i still don't think this is safe." i placed the basket with our food on my lap. "next time i'll come with a horse then." bella began to pedal and off we went to our picnic destination. i loved our picnic dates, they were always amazing. bella always made sure to bring my favorite snack, her! no but for real, when we had picnics after her meetings at the castle she brought some amazing foods. her cooks at home were better than those here at auradon prep, but i was still grateful for their food of course.

"so tell me beautiful, you have a date for the cotillion yet?" bella asked, as we were getting close to our spot. "well actually, i don't yet. i'm waiting for the right girl to ask me, ya dig?" bella stopped as we reached the bottom of the hill. riding her bike up there was hard so we usually left it at the bottom, no one ever came here anyways so it was safe. plus people don't really steal in auradon. except for bella, cause she stole my heart ya know.

i got off and grabbed the pillow so bella could put her bike down. or else i'd go down with the ship too.

"listen beautiful, if i get to the top before you.. i get to take you to cotillion." bella did an impression of an old man as she said it. "if i get there before you then i get to take you to the cotillion, old man." bella broke character as she let out a laugh.

"alright, then... three, two-" bella began to count down but i cut in. "one!" i yelled and began to run up the hill. i heard her gasp dramatically before she started running. this is the only valid type of cheating there is.

"ha! i beat you!" i yelled as i reached the top. bella didn't take long and she collapsed once she got to the top. "i can hear my legs screaming." drama queen. "dude i like, biked from the castle to school. that's forty five minutes, i made it in twenty five. then i biked here, then i had to run! and let's not forget the abundance of stairs the castle has." i shook my head, "all i hear is 'good leg day workout'." i set up the blanket and pillows for us to get comfortable. sigh who knew i would end up on top of a quite hill in auradon with a fricking queen.

"hey why don't i teach you how to ride a bike today?" bella asked sitting up. i laughed, she's been teaching me many things recently. my favorite was swimming, mostly because she rocks a swimsuit. i loved it when she taught me how to ballroom dance too. she also showed me the perfect stores that sell great fabrics for dresses. ugh what an amazing girlfriend, people should be jealous.

once the blanket and pillows were set bella got up to get out the food, god i was starving. everything looked and smelled so amazing that my stomach couldn't hold in a loud noise. bella only laughed when she heard it and continued to unpack our picnic.

when the sun hit her face i couldn't help but aw as she looked beautiful. her skin was glowing and her smiled shined brighter than any star. i know we're still young but i don't know what i would do if i ever lost her. i'm forever grateful that i was picked as one of the vk's to come to the island. others deserved it more than me but still, i feel blessed.

"evie? earth to evie!" bella called my name as i drifted off to space. "yeah sorry, i was just thinking." i looked down at the spread and laughed as i saw juice boxes. there were cookies, fruit and a variety of sandwiches. i loved it when it was simple stuff too, though the fancy food is delicious 'commoner' food, as audrey called it, was great too.

"i just realized that i never had you try a peanut butter and jelly sandwich." bella unwrapped a sandwich that was in the shape of a heart. "i've had peanut butter crackers, doesn't that count and jelly donuts?" i asked as she handed me the sandwich. "yes but never together, it's simple but delicious." i looked down at the sandwich and i just felt like crying, it's the simple things she does that get to me. that make me feel special. okay no more being sappy, time to eat it. i bit into it and woah. the two flavors exploded in my mouth.

"it's really good! sticky though, but good." i couldn't exactly describe the taste but it was really good. why did i take forever to try it. "it's like the simplest thing to make but the end product is worth it." i finished the sandwich after another bite, i wish there were more. soon after that we began to eat some of the other things bella had brought.

once we were done and had put away the remaining food and disposed of the garbage, we laid down and cuddled. we were pointing at the sky as we said what each cloud looked like. we stayed like this for a bit longer before i remembered we had to meet with doug to finish the dresses for the cotillion.

"babe, we should start heading back. we don't want to make doug wait any longer than he should." i told her as i sat up. "oh you're right. we have orders to complete." she sat up and kissed me cheek. i quickly placed a kiss on her lips and got up. we don't kiss much, mostly because i'm scared that if we went into a full blown make out session i'd suck and she'd be disappointed. so it's usually just quick pecks. although i always brought chapstick and mints incase the moment came.

i grabbed the basket as she packed up the blankets and pillows. well she had one in her hand as only one could fit in her backpack. "hey how about you ride the bike back to school." bella suggested and i gave her a funny look. "i can't ride a bike." i knew how to ride a motorcycle and those weird scooters but not a bicycle. never learned how.

"i'll teach you, you're a fast learner. you'll get the hang of it." she reassured me, i nodded and used my free hand to hold her only free hand. again, we're such a cute couple that people should be jealous.

"okay now pedal, slowly, yes you're getting it." i was on bella's bike as she was trying to teach me how to ride it. fuck i was scared, i didn't want to fall and hurt myself. "don't let go, please don't let go." i told her, god if she let me go i swear no more cuddles.

"don't worry i got you, just keep pedaling. okay now a bit faster, there like that. now press the brakes by the handles." i did as she told me and the bike stopped. "if not you could use your foot to stop, or the pedals, just pedal backwards to brake with the pedals." okay now i was feeling more confident.

"can i try it by myself?" i asked. she nodded happily and stepped backwards. "don't go fast unless you feel like you got it right." she reminded me. right okay, here i go. i'm doing it. i'm doing it! woah it's easier than i thought. i could hear bella cheer for me as i kept going. okay now to use the brakes. there! this was fun, would bella actually let me bike us back to school?

"for someone's who's never done this you're quite good." bella said as she caught up to me. "well i have a great teacher." she kissed my cheek, which i'm sure left a small stain as she was wearing lipstick.

"let me take you back, i promise i won't crash." i said quickly, scared she might say no. "oh of course, i don't see why not." i sat her on the basket and off we were. this was actually pretty easy, even if she was blocking the view but i figured this is how it was when i rode in the basket too.

it's moments like these that i will treasure forever.
