third-person pov
The vk's left the dorms quickly but quietly. They ran all the way to the museum of Cultural History, living on the Isle gave them the benefit of being super fit as you had to be quick on your feet at all times. They were lucky to not get caught or catch anyone's attention, who knows what measures they'd have to take to clear their names if caught.
Soon they were outside of the museum in the middle of the night. A small "come on" came from Mal as they ran up the stairs.
"Check your mirror." Mal ordered Evie as soon as they began to walk and slow down. "Is my mascara smudged?" Evie asked worried, which was the last thing on Mal's list priorities.
"Yeah, and hey while you're at it why don't you see if you can find us the wand." mal answered, nothing but sarcasm filled her tone. "Sure, this way." Evie lead the group in the direction her mirror gave them.
They soon reached the doors that would lead them to the wand, or at least get them closer to it. They peeked inside and saw the security guard spinning slowly on his chair to look at each monitor. Behind him was Maleficent's spinning wheel. The man's chair was turning to the door and the group quickly moved away to avoid being seen.
Once he was facing a different direction, they went back to looking inside.
"That's your mother's spinning wheel?" Jay asked as he let out a laugh. "Yeah, it's kinda dorky." Carlos joined Jay on the mocking of the spinning wheel that once belonged to Mal's mother.
"It's magic, it doesn't have to look scary." She was quick to defend her mother's wheel, not like her mother would care. Another thing she was good at was always defending her mother from whoever dared insult her and her magic.
"Magic spindle, do not linger. Make my victim prick a finger." Mal looked from her spellbook to the security guard and cast her spell, or at least tried. Nothing happened.
"Impressive."
"I got chills."
Mal ignored the boys mocking and tried again with a different spell.
"Okay, you know what? Prick the finger, prick it deep. Send my enemy off to sleep." Mal tried again, this time she got it to work. The security guard got up from his seat and walked towards the door but stopped as his attention was drawn to the spinning wheel. He pricked his finger and fell asleep right there on the spot.
"Not so dorky now, huh?" Mal said smugly. The smugness left however, as she tried to open the door but couldn't as it was locked. Clearly they didn't think things through.
"Stand back." Jay smirked as he stepped back a good few feet as he was getting ready to open the door himself with nothing but his strength. Yeah, you're not Gaston so calm down Jay. Before Jay lunged himself forward, Mal had a spell from her spellbook ready.
"Make it easy, make it quick. Open up without a kick." Unlike last time, the spell worked the first time and the doors opened up just as Jay ran leg first towards the door. This resulted in him falling to the ground as the other three just stood there looking at him. Evie and Mal laughed as they walked in, with Mal kicking Jay softly. "Coming?" She asked poking fun at him as he had done to her.
"Come on Jay." Carlos walked in and tried to help Jay up. "I'm good." He pushed the other boy away as he lifted himself up the rest of the way. "Just trying to help." Carlos mumbled, frowning as Jay rejected his help.
The vk's walked past the guard as they looked around looking at the items that were placed up. Carlos was behind Jay when he saw the security man move which caused him to stay behind a bit, but he quickly caught up to his friends. The last thing he wanted was to get lost in a place full of magical items. Soon, they were all running again trying to find the wand quickly.
On their way, they ran into a big room with replica statues of their parents. They froze for a few seconds before walking towards their 'parents'.
"Mommy?" Evie let out a small whimper.
"Killer." Jay expressed, what seemed to be a mix of anger and disgust, at his father.
"I will never forget mother's day again." Carlos spoke as memories of his mother's mistreatment came flooding back.
"Well the wands not here, let's bounce." Jay snapped out of his trance, taking notice of his friends reaction to seeing their 'parents' here in Auradon he saw that it was best they didn't spend any more time there. "Let's go." He spoke once more finally snapping his friends out of their own trances.
Evie and Carlos followed behind Jay as Mal stood back for a second.
"The future of the free world rests on your shoulders. Don't blow it." Mal heard Maleficent say in her head as she stepped closer to the statue.
"Look at you, look at me. I don't know who to be, mother." Mal began to sing, something they seem to do a lot is broken into song, which we'll see more of later. Really weird for kids who claim to be tough and evil.
"Is it wrong, is it right. Be a thief in the night, mother. Tell me what to do." mal sang not looking away from her mother's statue.
"Mal, come on," Evie had come back for her friend. Mal turned her attention to Evie for a second before she left. She turned back to look at Maleficent and soon her mother's statue actually let out a laugh.
"Don't be so serious darling, I'm sorry." maleficent said moving.
[you can play the song here now]
[start reading once the song is done :)]
Mal quickly came back to reality and went to catch up with her friends.
"There it is." Evie pointed down at the wand once Mal caught up with them. They all looked down and saw where Fairy Godmothers wand was floating? They quickly went down to where it was.
"Jay don't!" Mal yelled as she saw that Jay was ready to grab the wand. Jay smirked and ignored her. He went and grabbed the wand while Mal continued to yell, "Wait! No! No don't!" at Jay. He put his hand through the force field but was thrown back as an alarm began blasting.
"A force field and a siren?!" Carlos yelled covering his ears. What they didn't know was that the siren was able to wake up the security guard from the effect of Mal's spell.
"That's just a little excessive!" Jay screamed back not even covering his ear as he was still on the floor. "Let's go." Mal started running away with the rest of the vk's behind her. The security guard began running up the stairs while the vk's ran down the stairs, a separate stairway of course.
A phone began ringing as they ran past where the guard was once asleep. As they ran out the doors, Carlos picked up the phone call.
"Hello? Uh uh, just give me one second," He spoke into the phone and looked at the papers the guard had on his desk. He typed something into the device that stopped the siren from blasting. He went back to the phone call after the siren stopped. "Uh, yeah yeah, no. False alarm. It was a malfunction in the, uh... LM714 chip, in the breadboard circuit." He said looking down at the papers again. "Yeah okay, say hi to the misses." He smiled cheekily before hanging up the phone and running out of the museum.
He caught up to his friends as soon as he heard the guard get closer.
"Way to go Jay, now we have to go to school tomorrow." Mal expressed her lack of enthusiasm towards having to go to school the next day. She was hoping to have taken over Auradon by the next morning.
