Present Time...

Sarah

Today was indeed a busy day since some of us are needed to help in the Passenger Service Assistance section. There was an urgent call from the Airport Director to double the manpower today as delegates from several countries are coming in.

And, this time, I was asked to help in the PSA. The lady in-charge is about to give birth within this week and the management couldn't afford to be short-staffed.

I was busy sorting the stack of folders for this week alone on my station here at the baggage counter when one of our colleagues, Ryan Atienza, stopped by. He slid on my table a box of chocolates and  cleared his throat.

I looked up and saw him smiling shyly. I can feel the intriguing and teasing glances of our crew.

"Hello, Sarah. Free ka ba mamayang lunch?" He asked while looking st me.

"I'm sorry, Ryan, but I already have a flight schedule this afternoon. You know how things are here." I said politely.

Ryan shook his head and said, "no. It's fine. I just thought that maybe you're free. Anyway, here are some chocolates. I bought them just this weekend when I flew to Italy."

"Thank you but you shouldn't have." I said courteously and smiled at him. "You don't have to give me these things. I'm fine already."

"No worries. Oh, I have to go. See you around!" He said trying to sound cheerful, a tone of disappointment is evident in his voice.

As soon as he was out of earshot, the girls began to tease me about him. I sighed and let them talk while I organized my station.

"At may isang luhaan na naman pong binasted si Princess Sarah." Lucy Donovan announced and the girls giggled.

"Grabe, Sar! Haba talaga ng hair mo! Ryan is one of the hottest guys here! Nireject mo talaga?" Adrianne Yap remarked in disbelief. "Unbelievable!"

"Quit it guys! Sarah has a boyfriend! Don't put words into her mouth!" My friend, Zenaida, came into my defense. I smiled at her gratefully.

My eyes rested on the chocolate which Ryan gave and thought of something. I grabbed it and stood up.

I marched into Adrianne's table which was about three stations away from mine and hastily place the chocolate on top saying, "here. Iyong-iyo na." With that said, I returned to my place and winked at Zenaida who was sitting beside mine.

I could feel stares of shock and fear emanating from the gossipmongers earlier. Thankfully, the airport has announced that check in time for the flights have started. Things got busy and I was able to surpass the day.

Lunch time came and Alicia Sandoval took over my station as I prepare for the afternoon flight to New Zealand. It will be a long flight as it will take more than ten hours from here.

I had my quick lunch and smiled at  someone who's waiting for a table to be free.

"I am so glad that you are here, Sarah!" My friend, Angela Morales, exclaimed when we bumped into each other at the restroom.

"Bakit? Ano ganap?" I asked and started brushing my teeth as I looked at her from the mirror.

"Haven't you heard?" She asked while she was applying makeup and I shook my head as I brushed. She even looked at the cubicles first just to make sure that there is no one around. "Lionel has a mistress and that his fiancee found out about it and according to the rumors, sinugod daw talaga ni Ate Girl ang kabit here!"

My eyes widened and I gurgled water before I spat it out.
"What? Si Sir Lionel? As in, Sir Lionel, the ever so kind and nice pilot we know, has a mistress?" I asked in disbelief. She nodded and applied lipstick this time. "But, how? I mean, wala naman sa aura ni Sir na may side chick sya? H-ow?"

"Who knows? Looks can be deceiving." Angela shrugged and raised an eyebrow at me. She sighed. "I really never expected that either. I mean, their relationship is ideal. Kahit dito nga diba, napaka-vocal nya about her fiance at palaging ang excuse nya ay may anniversary dinner sila and all. Gosh! Iba na talaga ang panahon ngayon! Who would have known?"

I sighed and found myself agreeing to her. I never meant to take sides. But what really happened between them? What made Sir Lionel do what he had done? What about his fiancee? It's painstaking enough to know that your boyfriend is cheating on you but how much more if you saw them together, right?

Especially that they are about to get married three months from now. Oh. My. Gosh.

I happened to glance at my wristwatch and my eyes widened. I still have an hour left before the flight and my things are on the other side of the airport.

"Oh no! I have to run, Ange! Still have flight in an hour! Catch you later!" I said and hurried to the door.

"Ingat besh! See you!" Those were the last words that I heard before I ran to the escalator.

I may not be knowledgeable that much about the duties and responsibilities of Flight Attendants and Pilots as well as Doctors and Pediatricians, but I have made some  research and since this is a fictional story, some things are made from the product of my imagination alone.
