Gabby looked down crying and held liz's hand. The paramedics were trying to stop the bleeding but nothing seemed to be working, they knew they had to get the shrapnel out of her or she was going to die. Gabby began having flashbacks to when liz, Antonio, and her where kids. She tried to think of liz in any other way than the way she looked now, but it wasn't working. All she could see was her baby sister dying. She looked at liz and desperately said

"Hold on lizzie just hold on."

The ambulance finally arrived at the hospital where Maggie,dr.choi,and dr.halstead where waiting. They rushed liz out of the ambulance and wheeled her into the ED.

"What have we got" dr.choi said.

"Elizabeth dawson,30 years old, involved in an explosion. She has major bleeding and what appears to be shrapnel." Said the paramedic

"Take her to Baghdad" Maggie yelled.

They rolled her into the room and began to work

"Transfer on my count......Now!. Alright let's intubate"Said dr.choi

Gabby stood outside the door anxiously as Antonio arrived.

"What's happening" Antonio said with tears in his eyes.

"I dont know" Gabby said as matt walked up and hugged her.

As they finished intubating her the meters started beeping frantically.

"Shes in v-fib" April yelled

"Start compressions and give her a round of epi. Hand me the paddles and charge to two hundred. CLEAR!!"

"still in v-fib" April said

"Give me another round of epi,charge to two hundred.CLEAR!!"

"Still in v-fib" April said

"One more round of epi and charge to three hundred. clear!!!"

"We have a pulse let's get her up to surgery Maggie tell dr. Rhodes we're on the way up."

"Got it."

Gabby and Antonio began to follow them to the elevators.

"Hold on liz please don't give up" Antonio choked out.

As they rushed her into the elivator Gabby and Antonio wrapped eachother in a hug and stood in the hallway.

"This is my fault I should have been the one who took down the guy I shouldnt have let her take the job it's my job to protect you two and I failed."Antonio said sobbing.

"Its not you fault" gabby said.

The two of them walked back into the waiting room where everyone was waiting.

"How is she" voight asked

"We dont know yet but shes lost alot of blood ,it doesnt look good".Antonio said hanging his head.

"I'm sorry bro" voight said wrapping Antonio in a hug.

"Thanks man."

Everyone from 51 and Intelegence was sitting in the waiting room for hours...waiting....on any kind of news. Finally dr.rhodes came down and walked into the waiting room. Antonio and Gabby shot out of their seats.

"How is she" Gabby said

"She just came out of surgery however she is not waking up."

"Why not" Antonio said

"She needs alot of blood and she has o- . We need to find somebody with that blood type or I'm afraid shes not going to wake up." Dr.Rhodes said

"Ok we can ask everyone" Gabby said.

"Everyone listen up liz is out of surgery but shes not waking up. She needs blood but liz has o-. Is there anyone here that has that blood type." Gabby said in a desperate voice.

Out of the corner of the room Otis stood up

"I'm that type" Otis said

"Ok please come with me quickly." Dr. Rhodes said.

He took Otis and drew his blood. Dr. Rhodes came back in and said

"We're transfusing the blood right now."

"Can we see her?" Antonio asked

"Yes,but shes still not awake....follow me." Dr. Rhodes said.

Everyone  followed dr. Rhodes to liz's room as soon as Antonio and Gabby saw her they broke down. She was hooked up to a ventilator with wires and bandages all over her. Antonio grabbed her hand and nealed beside her bed 

"I'm so sorry lizzy I'm so sorry." Antonio sobbed.

Everyone came into her room and their faces dropped. Dr. Rhodes turned to Otis and said

"That blood really helped her. She should wake up in just a little while but she will be groggy and she may not remember what happened, so she may have a panic attack. Also when she wakes up call dr. Halstead to remove the tube."

"Thank you" Antonio said.

Otis walked over to liz and looked at her and then walked out of the room quickly. Cruz turned to everyone and said

"I'm gonna go check on him ( he walked out of the room and found Otis in the hall) hey man are you ok."

Otis turned around and looked at cruz with tears in his eyes.

" I cant look at her....its just that's not the same person I saw in the fire house.  The first time I saw her I dont know I felt like something just lit up inside of me."

"Listen come here bro" (cruz wrapped Otis in a hug). "The best thing you can do is be there when she wakes up" cruz said

"Yeah ....yeah your right....let's go". Otis said.

They walked back into the room and Otis went and stood by her bed behind voight who was holding her other hand.

Liz's eyes began to flutter open .she began to start breathing heavily because she didnt realize where she was.

"Lizzie..calm down we're right here....we arent going anywhere."Gabby said

"Jay get will" Antonio said

Liz began to grab her throat because of the tube and try to pull it out. So Antonio and voight grabbed both her arms and tried to get her to stop.

"Hold on....hold on we're getting the doctor." Voight said

Liz tried to fight them as a tear ran down her face because the tube was so uncomfortable. Will walked in and began to unplug the ventalator. He turned to the guy and told them

"Listen somebody might wanna hold down her legs....you'll know why in a min."

So jay and adam grabbed her legs and will began to pull the tube out. Liz began kick and gag as he pulled the tube out. As soon as will walked away Antonio wrapped liz in a hug. Liz was sore so she couldn't move but she said

"Hey bro" in a groggy hoarse voice.

Antonio looked at her with a smile. When Antonio moved out of the way liz saw  everyone in her room.she gave them a little weak smile and said

"Can somebody tell me what happened."

"What do you remember?" Gabby asked.

"I remember going into the appartment and talking to matt but I left my badge in my car so I went out to get it and...... oh I saw a car taking off down the street while I was walking to my car and I dont remember anything after that." Liz said

"Your car had a bomb on it and when you hit the button on your key fob the car well ....you know....and I went outside and found you. Matt said.

"Thank you matt."Thank you for being here everybody"

"We wouldnt be anywhere else." Otis said.

Liz looked at the clock on the wall and said

" isnt it time for everybody to get to work. "

"Shes right....I'm sorry we have to leave liz." Voight said.

"It's fine just because I get blown up doesnt mean you get to skip work." Liz laughed and said.

"51 we have to go to.....you feel better liz." Said chief boden

Antonio and Gabby both said that they needed to take off ,but liz said

"No go I'll be ok fine."

"No one of us is gonna stay here." Gabby said.

Otis turned around and said

"Hey I cant go to shift anyway because I gave blood so I can stay here. If that's ok."

Antonio gave Otis a look and then he looked back at Gabby and said..

"Ok...but I'll be by in a couple of hours."

Gabby and Antonio walked over and gave liz a kiss and walked out. Otis sat in the corner and they began talking.

"I heard about you giving blood .....thx."( she said as she began to tear up). Said liz

She was also blushing because she couldn't believe that the guy she liked just saved her life.

"I'm just glad I could do it" Otis said also blushing.

"You know Gabby talks about you guys alot .....most of it good things. Liz said with a laugh

"Oh yeah she ever mention me.....using words like ....handsome or ....strong."

"Mostly crazy,hyper and .....otis." liz laughed

"Wow....well I see how it is." Otis said laughing

Otis and liz kept talking and after a while Otis couldn't stop thinking about this amazing woman sitting in front of him.

"Hey ummmm I was wondering when you get out of here if you would wanna go get a drink or something.." Otis said nervously

"Are you asking me on a date?" Liz said

"Maby"

"Well in that case yes!" Liz said laughing

"You have to pro.ise me one thing though"

"And what's that ?"

"That Antonio wont kill me"

"Haha no promises...I mean I am the baby of the family so."

After they finished laughing liz suddenly got a sharp pain in her chest. Liz grabbed her chest.

"What's wrong" Otis said

"I dont know my chest hurts"

And at that liz passed out. Otis ran out of the room and yelled

"We need a doctor now!"

Dr. Halstead rushed to the room

"What happened" he said

"I dont know she was complaining about her chest "

"let's get a scan! Ok it looks like the shrapnel moved with her blood stream and is around her heart we need to get her to surgery now."

They began to move her quickly up to surgery. Otis followed them to the elivator. He grabbed her hand and walked with them.

"Stay with me liz remember we still have that date" Otis said crying.

He went back into the hallway frantically and called Gabby.

"GABBY U NEED TO GET UP HERE NOW!"

"Otis what's wrong?"

"ME AND LIZ WERE JUST TALKING AND SHE SAID HER CHEST HURT AND THEN SHE JUST PASSED OUT AND DR. HALSTEAD CAME IN AND SAID THE SHRAPNEL MOVED UP AROUND HER HEART THEY JUST TOOK HER INTO SURGERY."

"WHAT !OK IM COMING IM COMING OH MY GOD".

"OK PLEASE GABBY HURRY."

At that gabby ran into the kitchen where everyone was relaxing.

"I NEED A RIDE TO THE HOSPITAL NOW! SOME OF THE SHRAPNEL MOVED UP AROUND HER HEART AND THEY JUST TOOK HER INTO SURGERY."

"oh my God....let's go"

When they got there Otis was pacing the floor.

"What going on" Gabby said

"I dont know they havent said anything....I called Antonio he's on the way."

"Thank you" Gabby said crying

Just then Antonio arrived and filled him in on what was going on. They waited and waited until finally dr.Rhodes came back out with a disappointed look.

"She is out of surgery but she is not doing well." Dr. Rhodes said.

"What's wrong" Antonio said as he began to tear up.

"Shes doing great.."

Everybody looked at him like he was insane.

"I'm sorry she made me do that shes awake but very groggy she woke up babbling about some date or something and someone named o or that's all she could say"

Everyone looked at Otis

"Well we will talk about that later." Antonio said

"That's not funny" Antonio said with a chuckle to dr .Rhodes

They walked into liz's room saw her sitting there with a smile on her face.

"That wasn't funny" Otis said with a laugh and walked over and liz grabbed his hand.

Antonio gave the two of them a look and once they stopped staring into eachother eyes they saw Antonio's glare and let go.

"While we're on the subject(Antonio walked over and grabbed otis's shoulder).

Matt enterupted

"Before you finish that sentence .....I need him for shift tommorow."

Antonio continued

" so you wanna date my little sister huh.."

Otis stumbled over his words

"Well uh well yes"

"Well....you seem like a nice guy so I guess I'll let you. But if u ever hurt her or make her feel like she isnt the most wonderful person in the world so help me God I will kill you."

"Yes sir" Otis said nervously

As they all stood there laughing liz finally drifted off to sleep. She has a long road to recovery but the next few weeks are gonna be the hardest. This could still go either way but right now it was ok.
