Mike

I woke up to the sound of giggling and opened my eyes to see Dustin, Lucas and Will smirking at me.

"Morning, Mikey." Dustin said in a singsong voice.

"Uh, morning." I mumbled groggily. I tried to sit up but something - or someone was weighing me down. I looked down and my cheeks turned red when I saw Eve curled up beside me, her arm draped across my stomach and her head on my shoulder while she was fast asleep. So that's one those goons were laughing about.

"Uh, Eve..." I awkwardly tried to wake her up, gently shaking her. A few seconds later, her eyes fluttered open.

"Hm?" She hummed sleepily, before realising the position she was in and shooting upright, her eyes wide and her cheeks the same colour as mine.

"Good morning, Seven." Lucas sang in the same voice as when Dustin said good morning to me.

"Um... Good morning." She mumbled shyly.

"How are you feeling today?" I asked her, changing the topic to the first thing I could think of.

"Oh, erm, a little better." She said and I smiled.

"That's good, see I told you the chicken soup would help." I gave her a nudge and she giggled.

"Okay, if you two are done flirting with each other, Mike, we gotta get to school." Lucas interrupted and I gave him a glare.

"Right, Eve, stay down here, okay? We'll be back in a few hours. If you get hungry, I've got candy hidden behind the couch." I instructed the girl who just nodded in understanding.

"See you later, okay?"

"See you later, Mike." She smiled at me and I smiled back before following the guys upstairs. I went to change out of the clothes I'd fallen asleep in before grabbing my backpack and leaving the house, getting on my bike and cycling to school with Will, Dustin and Lucas.

Nancy

I got to school only to realise I'd forgotten my math book and had to go back home. I entered the house and began making my way towards the stairs when I heard what sounded like faint coughing from down in the basement. That's worrying, the house is supposed to be empty.

"Mike?" I called and waited a couple minutes for a reply. When I didn't get one, I decided to just shrug it off. Maybe I was just hearing things. Or maybe not. As I turned to continued my journey up the stairs, I heard a sneeze. Okay, that definitely wasn't my imagination.

I turned around and walked back down the stairs, over to the door that lead to the basement.

"Mike?" I called my brother's name again as I opened the door. I began walking down the steps and got the shock of my life when I found a girl sat on our couch.

"Who the hell are you?" I could've been a bit nicer there but in my defence, I was shocked and admittedly a little scared. This girl could be a murderer for all I know.

"I-I, um, I'm Mike's friend." She stuttered, looking even more frightened than me. Her voice was all stuffy like she was sick or something.

"Mike, of course, I should've known," I muttered to myself, "Right, I'm calling Mom."

"No!" She suddenly shouted, jumping up from the couch, "Please, don't tell anyone about me." She snatched my phone out of my hand but I didn't get mad at her. She seemed genuinely terrified.

"Who are you?" I asked her.

"Who are you?" She shot back.

"I'm Nancy, I'm Mike's older sister. You can trust me, okay?" I said softly, "What's your name?"

"Seven." She whispered, "But Mike and the others call me Eve." Her name is a number... Like Eleven.

"Seven? Like... Eleven?"

"You know about Eleven, too?" She asked me. So, she's probably talked about Eleven with Mike.

"I do." I nodded, before I remembered what I'd actually come home for in the first place, "Okay, I need to go but don't worry, I won't tell anyone you're here."

"Thank you." She gave me a small smile and I returned it before I went back upstairs.

Mike

Eventually, school was over and the guys and I were cycling home. We said goodbye to Will and Dustin when they turned down their streets and I said goodbye to Lucas when he got to his house and before long, I was walking up to my front door.

"Hey, honey, how was school?" Mom asked me as I walked into the house.

"It was alright." I shrugged as Nancy came down the stairs.

"Oh, Mike, you're home, good. We need to talk." She grabbed my hand before dragging back upstairs and into her room, shutting the door behind us.

"What the-"

"I know about Seven." Oh shit.

"Yeah, it comes after six..." I tried to play dumb.

"Don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about, Mike. I found her in the basement." She folded her arms and gave me a look.

"Please don't tell Mom!" I begged, not even bothering to cover it up anymore.

"Relax, I won't." She said which made me sigh in relief, "But you can't keep her in the basement. It's not healthy, she needs sunlight and proper food and a proper bed."

"I know that, Nancy, but what else am I supposed to do? If we take her anywhere else she could end up back at the lab." I told her.

"So, you're going to keep her down there forever?"

"No," I rolled my eyes, "Just for the time being, until I figure out what to do."

"Okay, well, if you need my help you know where to find me."

"Yeah, I know and hey, thanks for not snitching on me." I smiled at my sister.

"You don't need to thank me, Mike." She smiled back at me before I left her room and went down to see Seven.
