Hairi felt her heart beating fast against her chest and sank down behind a shelf in the library of her school. She had not intended to listen in on someone but this conversation made her stay there with one hand still on the book she had pulled out of the shelf without noticing.

"You know Sehun did like Hairi back in the day," Kai's voice sounded in Hairi's ears but he was joking. Kyungsoo's response was accompanied by a suppressed snicker as he said, 'Well, yes, but he didn't act on it'. 'That's because he was a coward. He always thought she was too pretty for him,' he added.

Hairi widened her eyes. She quickly shot her hand up and placed it over her mouth to suppress a gasp that was about to come out. "Sehun had a crush on me?"She turned her head around the shelf to see both Kai and Kyungsoo engaged with a few other friends at the table, who looked calm and happy as they had some fun talking about their school days.

"But you know how he is," Kyungsoo continued. "Sehun's the type to keep his feelings to himself until he's absolutely sure it'll work out."

Hairi ducked back behind the bookshelf, her thoughts swirling. Her mind raced back to all the times they'd crossed paths, all the glances and the shy smiles she'd once thought were her imagination. The idea that he had been feeling something too made her heart flutter with a mixture of excitement and nervousness.

She drew a laboured breath in an attempt to steady herself. All of a sudden she was back to organizing her overflowing thoughts, there was a loud vibration that startled her. In fact, the phone vibrated so hard that she had to disregard the book almost completely. She hastily grasped her phone and read the text, feeling surprised as she did so.

"Did you hear that?"

A shiver crept up her spine. The message was from another unknown number, similar to the one that had come to her phone earlier. It felt like someone was pulling the strings in this insane game, observing her every action. She glanced around the library considering someone might be lurking but everyone did not seem to care about her existence.

Her hands were still a little quivering when she made the statement." Who are you? And How do you know my location?"

After a patience of some seconds, she waited until she saw the dots move in the drawn screen and the stranger was responding. At last, That text came through.

"I'm just someone who is aware about you, the aware that you probably are not aware yourself."

The words sent a strange shiver through her, mixing mystery with an unsettling thrill. She wasn't sure if this person was a friend or some thing playing tricks on her. Either way, they were obviously keeping tabs on her-and knew about Sehun's feelings. But why?

Closing her phone, Hairi tried to calm the excitement and confusion bubbling inside her. Her mind kept returning to Sehun's crush on her. She'd never imagined he might have felt the same way she had all those years ago.

---

By the afternoon, Hairi found herself in the school cafeteria lost in thoughts trying to reconcile all that she had learned. She absentmindedly pushed her food around her plate without actually tasting it as she wandered off mentally. 'Hey, Hairi.' The voice broke her train of thought and bringing her head from down, she saw Sehun standing beside her table with a familiar timid look which she was fast growing used to.

"Oh, hi Sehun!"She worked hard to make herself sound calm but the pitch of her voice was too high, considering the circumstances, and clearly revealed excitement. When he moved to sit, she waved a hand across the table to him, and after placing his lunch tray on the table, he occupied the chair opposite to him.

"Are you alright?" he asked, eyeing her with an inquisitive head-tilt. "You seem... off your game." Hairi pondered for a while and looked at her lap. His attention felt heavy on her and for a moment she considered what she had just heard and whether she should voice it to him at that minute. But then changed her mind. It was early for that. She looked at everything as too much and too soon for her.

"Yeah, I'm fine," she said, mustering a smile. "Just... lost in thought, I guess."

Sehun nodded, though his eyes remained on her, as if he could sense that something was on her mind. He picked up a rice cracker from his tray and offered it to her with a small smile. "Here, I know these are your favorite."

Hairi took the rice cracker, her cheeks warming at the small, thoughtful gesture. It was such a simple act, yet it made her feel seen like he truly remembered the little things about her.

As they munched on their snacks, their conversation flowed easily, weaving between memories of their school days, favorite subjects, and l about teachers and classmates. The atmosphere was relaxed, with moments of shared laughter and comfortable silences that felt more like home than anything Hairi had experienced in a while.

"I remember you used to always sit by the window," Sehun commented with a soft smile. "You'd stare outside, like you were a thousand miles away. I used to wonder what you were thinking about."

Hairi's heart skipped a beat. "Really? You noticed that?" she asked, surprised.

Sehun laughed lightly, scratching the nape of his neck as he spoke. "I can keep secrets. I... I remember many things about you from that time." His tone became lower and he appeared reluctant before directing his gaze towards her with a slight softness in his appearance.

Hairi had all this time flushed. She looked away and feigned attention on a mural on the wall of the cafeteria, but it was evident that her pulse was elevated. It was as if they shared an invisible bond, a firm toward silence without elaboration.

"So... what went on in that mind of yours back in the day?" Sehun brought her back to the present with his voice.

"Uh, I don't know," came her answer with a small smile on her lips. "I used, I guess... I used to think about things, about life, about dreams, and about the kind of a place I would be in the next few years." She bit her lip, and looked at him. "Once in a while, I thought about... about certain... people."

"People?" He also leaned towards her because he was curious. "What people?"

Hairi's heart pounded as she met his gaze. The air between them felt charged, filled with a mix of curiosity and something else, something tender and fragile.

"Maybe..." she replied coyly, taking a small bite of her rice cracker to avoid saying too much.

Sehun laughed softly, the sound warm and genuine. "I think I get it," he said, his eyes lingering on hers. "I think about people too, sometimes."

They sat in silence for a moment, both smiling as they shared an unspoken understanding. The cafeteria around them faded away, and it was as if they were in their own little world, one where the past and present blurred into a single moment of connection.

---

A little more than halfway down the hall her phone buzzed again, drawing her away from her musings. She fished it out quickly and opened the message excitedly, her pulse quickening.

"Are you going to tell him?" the message read.

She scowled and peered out into the hallway. Who was this person and how did they know so much? Her fingers hovered above the screen, preparing to respond, but she fought to maintain her calm.

"Who the hell are you?" she managed to type. "And why do you care?"

There was no response right away, but she felt the pressure settle on her like a blanket that was too heavy for her to carry. The words of the message had awakened something in her, something that made her want to face her own feelings and examine the depths of her wants. With every passing day, Hairi discovered that she was spending more and more time in the company of Sehun, cherishing every talk and every grin.

Although they kept each other at arm's length, it could be clear that there was a deeper connection between the two of them and it was one that seemed to have always existed and only needed to be rekindled. One day, they were at an after-school study session together.

The library was almost empty, and sunlight streamed on them from the windows as they put their heads down to study. "I appreciate your assistance," Sehun replied as he carefully.

He gathered his books, his arm brushed against hers, and Hairi felt a jolt of electricity at the contact. She felt her heart tremor but easily regained her control, and wished to know whether he felt the same.

As they walked out of the library together, Hairi's mind raced. The warmth of his touch lingered on her skin, and the memories of their shared conversations swirled around her like a comforting embrace. She was falling for him again, harder than before.

And this time, she wasn't sure if she wanted to hold back.
