Sehun had settled at the library table, his eyes riveted to Hairi's notebook, still replete with the faint traces of her perfume. Thoughts ran amok, trying to piece conversed fragments, crystallize fleeting moments, as well as imagine the peculiar, elusive look he had seen in her eyes when she tried to explain something she couldn't quite articulate. It was like a puzzle laid before him for the first time where the picture was starting to form.

What he saw written on her phone during the last nights haunted him: "You can never outrun fate." Coupled with the bizarre conversation he had eavesdropped between Hairi and Minji about time travel, it painted a picture too wild to believe, yet too consistent to ignore. Hairi's sudden disappearances, cryptic words, that desperate look in her eyes when she said she didn't have much time-start to illuminate in a way that made his stomach churn.

She wasn't just running from something; she was actually running through something.

Sehun shoved the notebook away and leaned back in his chair, raking his hands through his hair. If Hairi's story was true, then she was somehow involved with time in a way that defied everything he thought he knew. But how? And why hadn't she told him the truth earlier?

He recalled their earlier conversation only hours before, how close she had been to explaining it all. He had seen the determination in her eyes, the vulnerability in her voice. But something had stopped her. Or something.

Time.

A lump formed in Sehun's throat as he abruptly stood, snatching his coat. He had to find her. If she really was caught up in something dangerous like this, she would need him now more than ever.

The streets were bustling with people as Sehun made his way toward the café where he and Hairi often met. He scanned the crowd anxiously, his mind racing with questions. What if this time, she couldn't come back?

He knows that Hairi is in the future now.

"Hairi!" he called out, his voice lost in the hum of the city.

He knows right now the girl standing before is the past her, the her who just had a crush on Sehun and do not know him as a friend just a distance crush, but as he saw her everywhere he went he just observe her from afar do not want to burden her younger self or freak her out.

He passed by the café and saw her, standing on the other side of the street near a crosswalk. She looked distracted, her eyes scanning her phone as if searching for an answer she couldn't find. Relief flooded through him at the sight of her, but it was quickly replaced by a sense of urgency. He crossed the street, weaving through the crowd, his voice cutting through the noise.

"Hairi!"

Her head snapped up, her eyes wide as they met his. For a moment, the world seemed to pause. The bustling crowd faded into the background, and all Sehun could see was her.

"Sehun," she said softly, her voice barely audible above the city's din. She looked startled, as though she hadn't expected to see him she never thought he would know her name her past her at least.

"Hairi," Sehun said again, his voice firmer.

But before she could turn to looked at her, The light turned green, and Hairi stepped onto the crosswalk, her eyes focused on something he couldn't see. Sehun's breath caught in his throat as he noticed the car speeding down the street, the driver seemingly unaware of the light.

"Hairi!" he shouted, sprinting toward her.

She turned at the sound of his voice, her eyes meeting his. For a split second, time seemed to slow, and he saw the realization in her eyes. She smiled faintly, as if she had accepted something he couldn't understand.

"No!" Sehun screamed, his hand reaching out for her.

But he wasn't fast enough.

The screech of tires and the sound of impact shattered the world around him. People screamed, the crowd surging forward in chaos. Sehun stood frozen, his mind unable to process what had just happened.

When he finally moved, it was as if his body was on autopilot. He pushed through the crowd, his heart in his throat as he reached the middle of the street.

Hairi lay on the pavement, her body still, her eyes closed. Blood pooled beneath her, staining the concrete.

"No, no, no," Sehun muttered, dropping to his knees beside her. He cradled her head in his hands, his vision blurred with tears. "Hairi, wake up. Please. Don't do this to me."

Her eyes fluttered open, and she looked up at him, her lips curving into a weak smile. "Sehun," she whispered, her voice barely audible.

"I'm here," he said, choking on his words. "I'm right here. Stay with me."

-

At the hospital, voices surrounded her. Hairi lay on the bed, staring blankly at the ceiling. Her head throbbed, and her body felt unnaturally heavy. Doctors whispered to her family and friends that she had amnesia, a consequence of what they believed to be a traumatic accident. They told her she had no recollection of anything beyond her childhood friends.

Sehun stood outside the hospital room, leaning against the wall, his face pale. He had overheard the conversation with the doctor, confirming what he already suspected: she had gone back to the future.

He'd known this moment might come. Still, the realization cut through him like a knife. Hairi's memories of their time together had vanished, yet he knew the truth. He also knew why she couldn't remember-because her mind had returned to a timeline where he was nothing more than a shadow in her life. He'd seen Jiwoo walk into the room earlier, greeted by the Hairi of the past, a version of her that only remembered her childhood friends.

Sehun clenched his fists, a bitter smile forming on his lips. "Love... it's meant to wait," he murmured, his voice barely audible. "For you, Hairi, I will. Even if it's ten years from now." He took one last look at the girl inside, her face alight with innocent curiosity, and turned away.

As he walked down the hospital hallway, he whispered to himself, "When you come back to me, Hairi, I'll be waiting."
