"I have something to tell you," Hairi began, her voice steady despite the fear bubbling inside her. "Something I should have told you a long time ago."
For the first time in what felt like forever, Hairi didn't run. She stood rooted in the present, the swirling chaos of the past and future held at bay by sheer will. She had been chasing the impossible, trying to rewrite a story that refused to be erased. But not today. Today, she would face Sehun and finally tell him the truth.
The late afternoon light bathed the streets in a warm, golden glow as she spotted him. He was walking toward her from the direction of the café they used to visit together, his hands buried in his pockets, head slightly bowed. The sight of him-so familiar yet so distant-made her heart twist painfully.
Clutching the locket around her neck, Hairi felt its warmth pulse against her skin, like a steady heartbeat urging her forward. With trembling fingers, she took a step.
Her steps were hesitant at first, her fear threatening to pull her back. But as she closed the distance between them, determination blossomed. She couldn't turn away now. This was her last chance.
"Hairi?" Sehun's voice broke the silence as he noticed her, his tone tinged with disbelief and something else-hope. "Is that really you? Where have you been?"
Hairi's breath caught at the sound of his voice. She had imagined this moment a thousand times, but nothing could prepare her for the weight of it. Her throat tightened, but she forced herself to speak.
"Sehun," she whispered, her voice raw with emotion. "I need to tell you something. It's going to sound unbelievable, but please, just listen."
His brow furrowed slightly, confusion flickering across his features, but he nodded. "I'm listening."
She stepped closer, their proximity amplifying the electricity in the air. "I've been jumping through time," she said, the words rushing out in a single breath. "I've been trying to fix things, to make things right for us. But no matter how hard I try, something always goes wrong."
Sehun blinked, his confusion deepening. "Hairi, what are you saying? Jumping through time? That's..." He trailed off, searching her face as though trying to discern if this was some elaborate joke.
"I know it sounds crazy," she said, her voice trembling. "But it's the truth. Every time I go back, I try to change something-to stop us from falling apart. But every jump... it just pushes us further away."
The vulnerability in her voice, the tears glistening in her eyes, made him pause. He took a step closer, his hand reaching out instinctively, brushing against hers.
"Why?" he asked softly. "Why would you do all that?"
"Because I couldn't lose you," she admitted, her voice breaking. "I was scared, Sehun. Scared that if I didn't fix everything, I'd lose you forever."
The raw honesty in her words seemed to shatter the distance between them. Sehun's expression softened, the confusion giving way to something deeper-an aching tenderness that made her heart lurch.
"You don't need to fix everything," he murmured, his voice low and steady. "Hairi, you can't rewrite the past. But... I'm here. I'm standing right in front of you. Isn't that enough?"
Hairi's chest tightened as his words sank in. He wasn't rejecting her, wasn't pushing her away. Instead, he was asking her to let go of the impossible and hold onto what was real-what was here, now.
"Sehun," she whispered, her voice barely audible as she stepped closer. "I've spent so long running, trying to find the perfect moment to tell you how I feel. But the truth is, there's no perfect moment. There's only this one."
His gaze locked onto hers, and for a heartbeat, the world seemed to stand still. "Then tell me," he said softly, his hand slipping fully into hers.
"Tell me what's in your heart. Serenity embraced the moment, and in the next breath, she broke the silence." I love you," she confessed without surrender. "I've always loved you, and I was so scared of messing it up that I forgot about the only thing that mattered. You. Us."
A breath escaped him, and for a moment, his expression was unreadable. Then, he smiled a slow, heart-stopping smile that lit up his entire face.
"You're incredible, you know that?" he said, his voice thick with emotion. "Hairi, I don't care what your past is like or how we got here. This moment is the only one that matters to me and I'm not letting you go."
Tears ran down her cheeks as everyone burst into his embrace. This felt like home waking up under that beautiful sky, with the soothing sound of his heart beating, drumming against hers.
But just as her heart began to soar, she felt it-the familiar pull, the disorienting sensation that had haunted her every jump.
"No," she gasped, clutching him tighter. "Not now. Please, not now."
"Hairi?" Sehun pulled back, alarmed. "What's happening?"
"I don't want to leave," she whispered desperately, her fingers curling into his shirt. "I-"
The world blurred around her, and his face began to fade. She reached out, her voice breaking. "Sehun!"
And then, she was falling, the fabric of time pulling her away once again.
______
She opened her eyes only to find herself in her bedroom again, in the year 2024. It was the place she started so many times before.
Her chest heaved, and her fingers clutched the empty space where Sehun had been. The ache in her heart was unbearable. She had been so close. So close to holding onto him, to finally breaking free of this endless cycle as she looked at her phone that said her time was up no more second chances in life.
But time wasn't done with her yet.
______
Not again is this really her last chance to go back ? Stay tune to find out
