Chapter 3: The Unexpected Rewind
Hi everyone thanks for the support enjoy reading.
----
Hairi stood outside the cafe , took a deep breath, the cool evening air brushing against her face, her heart a spinning conflicting emotions. She had just said her farewell to Sehun after an unexpected meeting-one of those rare moments in life that felt like fate or destiny, yet she wasn't sure how to digest it not quite yet.
She had deleted the unknown message from earlier and do not care that much about it.
Hairi and Sehun spent a few hours chit-chatting with each other, catching up on old memories, laughing over some memories . In high school, they hadn't been particularly close with one and other-just classmates who exchanged the occasional greeting when they see each other, who occasionally hung out in the same group of friends, and who had exchanged a few rare, glances across a crowded room. But back in the past, Hairi had found herself liking him. She had a liking on him silently, delighted by his quiet confidence and how comfortably he seemed to fit in, like he had everything figured out while she had to attempt and struggled to find her place.
In that instant, when one stood at the entrance of the café, she was hit with a feeling of warmth that was familiar, reminiscent of some distant connection that was tinged with pleasure and sadness at the same time. It felt as if it was out of a dream, something that had been neglected for ages, and yet was never fully comprehended in the previous context.
As soon as Hairi turned away from the cheerful café, a brisk air hitting her face, something in her pocket vibrated. She stood still for a second, anticipating the usual notification-something associated with her job most likely a message from her older brother. But after a moment, she frowned and looked down at her phone, and her heart leapt. The screen bore a message, but it was from some number she did not recognize.
Hairi. I know this sounds strange. But I want you to listen carefully.
A shiver ran down her spine. The words felt eerily familiar. and strange feelings A sense of déjà vu overcame her. She stared at the screen. try to understand Is this a joke? Teasing you from a number you don't know? Her first instinct was to abandon it. But she couldn't ignore the uncomfortable tugging at her breasts. The tone in the message was too direct, too immediate. Before she could process it any longer Her phone buzzed again with the same message displayed.
This is your opportunity, don't neglect it.
Her hands trembled slightly as she read the message. She couldn't breathe and felt strangely dizzy. As she felt the floor under her shift Her surroundings became blurry. And she stumbled and clutched the phone tightly. As if the surrounding air Her body has changed. And reality is distorted. and drag her somewhere else Her vision wandered. And the world began to unravel around her.
Overhead streetlights flicker and the sounds of the city seem to fade into the background. It was replaced by an uncomfortable silence and she could still hear the pulse pounding in her ears. She tried to control herself. But everything felt wrong. It was as if she couldn't control her body. Her phone buzzed again. With the same message flashing on her screen:
This is your opportunity, don't neglect it.
This statement felt like a command. As if she couldn't resist, she closed her eyes, trying to focus on the familiar thing. something solid Her mind whirled with confusion. Did she fall asleep? Is this some kind of dream? But no matter how hard she tried to confine herself, She couldn't escape the feeling that time was passing so quickly. And bring you back through a time long forgotten... And suddenly it began. The dizzy feeling stopped. When you open your eyes again She is no longer outside the coffee shop. Haiti blinked and looked around her.
The air was different - cooler, tinged with the scent of old paper and books. She looked down in a panic and realized with shock that she was no longer wearing casual clothes. But she was wearing the same high school uniform she had worn all those years ago.
Her heart leapt in disbelief. This cannot be true. What can she do?
I am dreaming.thats must be it. Still not wanting to believe it.
The hallways of her old high school spread out before her. Both familiar and strange as before. The walls were plastered with posters advertising upcoming spring dances. and the students walked past her in a lively manner. Too busy to notice the shocked expression on her face.
The sounds of lockers opening and closing mixed with the sounds of youthful gossip filled the air. Her phone screen flashed in 2014, reinforcing the fear in her already paranoid mind. She felt like she was in the past. Stuck in a moment you can't control.
This cannot be true. This cannot happen. But no matter how hard she tried to deny it, The truth cannot be denied. She's back in high school.
The reality she left behind adulthood. With all the responsibility and resentment that came with it faded into nothingness. She had been surrounded by people she had not seen in many years.
Then, as if summoned by her own thoughts She looked at him.
Sehun.
He stood at the end of the hallway and walked towards her. Just as she remembered—his expression was quiet, thoughtful, and a little distant. The years had not changed him much.
He was still the same Sehun she knew back then. I'm a little introverted. Too cool for most people. But it was also someone who had always caught her attention in ways she couldn't explain.
Sehun stopped when he saw her. His brow furrowed in confusion. "Hairi?" he asked, his voice reflecting the same warm concern she remembered. Right now, though, there are signs of uncertainty.
Hairi's breath caught in her throat. And she froze for a moment. I don't know how to respond. She had admired him from afar for a long time. But this was a truth she never thought she would experience.
Here he looked in front of her as he remembered. The two of them moved for a moment. The world around them seemed to stand still. The sounds of the hallway fade into the background. Hairi's thoughts wandered in a dizzy state. You must speak and act. This was her opportunity given to her to make a difference.
To do something different but how?
"Hairi?" Sehun's voice cut through her thoughts. Now I'm more worried.
"Are you ok?" She blinked, shaking her head slightly as she tried to regain her composure. "Yes... I got a little lost," she said, smiling slightly. Her voice was barely more than a whisper. But something had to be said to make this moment feel real.
Sehun studies her. His brows furrowed even deeper, "Are you sure? You look a bit... off."
Hairi nodded quickly. Her heart was still pounding in her chest. It should calm her down. But it was very difficult to ignore the overwhelming emotion and confusion. Standing here in front of Sehun It's as if nothing has really changed like in high school. It's unbelievable. But everything has changed. And for a moment she felt like she was approaching something big. It was something she didn't fully understand.
Sehun glanced at his watch and looked back at her with a slight smile. "I'm going to the library to study for the midterm exam. Do you want to go with me?"
Hairi's heart pounded in her chest. It was. This is your chance. That thought echoed in her mind. Back then, she admired him but didn't dare approach him. This is the moment when she can change that.
"Sure," she replied, her voice calmer now, though it still carried a trace of confusion. "I'd love to."
This is a first we never even talk let alone hang out . I always runaway not wanting to face him.
"Alright then, let's go."sehun nodded.
They walked down the hallway together, and the world seemed to fall into the right place around her. The noise of students, the chatter, the distant sounds of lockers opening and closing, all became background noise.
All that mattered now was that she had a chance to rewrite the story-her story, their story. And she wasn't going to waste it.
When they arrived at the library Sehun opened the door for her. And she stepped into the library. The familiar scent of the book enveloped her like a warm embrace.
"We'll find a table there," Sehun said, pulling her out of her thoughts and pointing at the table. His smile was gentle. This is her chance to change. And she won't let it go. Not this time
