Chapter 15: Night to Remember
Thanks to everyone who reads my story, it motivated me to continue writing. Enjoy

The school was buzzing with excitement as the annual spring dance was just around the corner. Posters were up in every hallway, and students chattered about dresses, tuxedos, and who was taking whom. Hairi tried to ignore the buzz, telling herself it wasn't that big of a deal. Yet, every time she caught a glimpse of Sehun, the thought of attending the dance didn't seem so far-fetched to him. Just maybe.
One Friday afternoon, after the final school bell rang, Sehun caught up with hairi as they walked to the school gates.
"Hairi," he began, his voice steady but his hands fidgeting with the straps of his bag. "Do you have a moment?"
She glanced up at him, curious. "Sure, what's up?"
Hairi be calm, why am I nervous
Sehun took a deep breath, his usual calm demeanour slipping just slightly. "I was wondering... would you like to go to the spring dance with me?"
Oh hell yeah, I will. Hairi kept it calm as she thought to herself
Hairi froze for a second, her mind racing rapidly. Of all the things she'd imagined him saying, this hadn't crossed her mind at all not one bit.
"With me?" she asked, almost dumbfounded. Still cannot comprehend he asked her out. In the original timeline, she can't even imagine a dance with him. She originally went with Jiwon. Now it completely changes.
He smiled sheepishly. "Yeah. I mean, only if you want to. No pressure."
She just stared at him, momentarily. But by and by, seeing that faint blush on his cheeks as well as the way he moved rather nervously about, warmth surged through her.
"I would really love to," her soft but emphatic tone declared.
Sehun's face instantly broke into a smile-brightened with relief and something else-in perhaps even joy. "Really?"
"Yes, really," affirms Hairi, with her heart racing a beat.

The Night of the Dance
It was the event of the year and here she stood with a fidgety mind gazing into her mirror image. It was a simple, flowing lavender dress with an elegant style that was not too fancy and did not distract one's vision. Loose curls adorned her earthy hues, and her mother had given her a matching pearl earring accessory. She now looked... different, and well for once, liked it too.
A ring of the doorbell made her heart land in her throat. She quickly rushed downstairs to her parents who were already at the door.
Sehun stood there in a classy black suit, holding a tiny corsage made of white roses and widened his eyes in surprise as soon as he saw her.
"You look... amazing," he gasped breathlessly.
Hairi felt her cheeks grow hot. "Thanks. You look pretty great yourself."
A few clicks of the camera by her parents and the next thing she knew, they were headed toward the school. The drive to school was easy-going and comfortable, and Hairi found herself relaxing.
The gym was completely transformed into a fairy wonderland. Flowing white lights hung down from the ceiling, and the glows softly brightened the room. The students were buzzing in excitement, laughing, dancing, and mingling with each other.
Hairi and Sehun walked in together, and she was feeling very nervous, with a little thrill, too. But once she glanced at Sehun, who offered her a reassuring smile, all was well.
They started the evening talking easily with bites of snack, and around here, they'd milled about with the most new friends. But when the happy music slowed down, becoming more melodious, Sehun turned to her.
"Would you like to dance?" he asked, extending his hand.
Hairi took all in one second before nodding her head. "I would love to".
He led her to the dance floor where couples swayed to the gentle rhythm. He put one hand on her waist, and she put hers on his shoulder. Their free hands intertwined and they began to move.
Hairi felt awkward because she doubted what she was doing. But with the calming aura created by Sehun, she very soon began relaxing to the rhythm.
"You've got it down, babe," he said smiling.
She laughed softly. "You can't say that. I'm note your girlfriend .
"Not yet "he mumble to himself.
"What did you say Sehun?"
"Nothing"he deflected.
But in the end, it will not matter for them as the music enveloped them. Hairi stared into the depths of Sehun's eyes as if she was witnessing the full depth of his feeling for the first time, as though every indefinable emotion they had ever expressed by a silent glance or shared quiet time came crashing into this moment.
"You know," he said, barely loud enough to be heard above the music, "I wasn't really sure if I should call you to come today. I thought maybe you wouldn't want to."
Hairi frowned slightly. "Why would you think that?"
He shrugged, a hint of vulnerability in his expression. "I guess I wasn't sure if you saw me like that."
"Sehun, you're one of the most important persons in my life. I don't know what I would have done without you for these past few months," Hairi said, her palm squeezing his hand tenderly.
That made a big difference to him: "Hairi, this means so much."
For a couple of seconds, when the last notes of the song sounded, Sehun everyone, though, almost as if for the first time, twirled her right round. It seemed so light, and the sound was free, laughing, and when she returned in distance as if on cues, he caught.
The background noise was mostly the music in his ear, and they both knew that at that moment, nothing mattered to Hairi than the moment. It mattered not to her what others would think, nor what would happen next. Only this moment mattered: this moment with Sehun.
At the corner of the dance hall Kai and Kyungsoo were sitting on a coach and looking at them.
"Just get together already"Kai said as Kyungsoo just reading his book and said "Just let the lovebirds be Kai".

Sehun suggested a moment of fresh air after their dance. The school courtyard is now quiet as the cool night breathes some fresh air into his skin still just recovering from the heat of the gym.
Beneath a vast canopy of string lights, they settled on a bench in comfortable silence for a while.
"You know," Sehun broke the silence, "I think tonight would probably be one of my most favorite memories."
Hairi smiled, her gaze on the stars above. "Mine too."
Then he turned to her; there was seriousness in his face, but with a gentle tone. "I'm really glad I asked you, Hairi. I don't think I've ever had this much fun at a school event."
She looked at him, filled with emotion in her heart, saying, "Me neither."
For a moment there, the world seemed to stop. Hairi felt this strange blend of excitement and calm, as if everything had been put in motion just for her and Sehun.
"Hairi," Sehun began in a low voice, "I..."
Just then, a gentle whisper of the wind blew through the trees, and Hairi was found leaning toward him and closing the space between them. Sehun did the same, and their foreheads touched gently.
And there was no one speaking. At such quiet, shared moment, everything was said.

Later that night, as Sehun walked her to her door, Hairi found herself relaxed and at peace, the feeling having been absent for a long time.
"Thank you for tonight," she said in a sincere voice. "It was... perfect."
Sehun smiled as his eyes sparkled. "Thank you, Hairi. For saying yes."
They stood for a moment, neither of them wanting the night to end. But then Sehun waved slightly at her and turned away.
Outside, Hairi watched him go with a full heart. She stepped in and closed the door, unable to control the smile that crept onto her face.
More than a dance, it would prove to be the moment of change-the first small ripples that would echo forth with something truly beautiful.
