8IGHT YEARS LATER
Third person's POV

Nine years Old Genzebe was a spoilt brat. She was referred to as spoilt little rich snub by her classmates in school. Genzebe got all she wanted from her grandparents. Her mother wasn't an exception. Eghe poured all her frustrations in pampering Genzebe.

Genzebe attended a day school where her grandparents were grand patron, her mother the spoke person in the schools PTA (parents teacher association). In  Genzebe's school students were allowed to wear mofty as long as they were well covered. Eghe who have always had eyes for fashion took her time every school day to dress her daughter. Genzebe literally slayed to school. She never wore her clothes twice.

***flash back****

Eight years ago when Ikay walked out on Eghe, taking her other babies, breaking his phone and sim, Eghe taught it was a dream. Eghe ran back to their shared room and went straight to their walk in closet as usual, and found all his clothes still arranged.

Ikay didn't take any of his belongings with him when he left. She had hope that he would come back as he has always done in the past.

Two days and he wasn't back and no call from him. Eghe cried to her parents, Ikay only lasted two days outside before he came back home. Her parents as usual consoled her, told her not to worry that he would come back eventually.

When Eghe's parents returned home and heard what happened, they were devastated and sworn they were going to smoke him out. Days turned into weeks and weeks into months. Eghe began to lose hope, and it dawn on her that Ikay may never come back. Ikay had finally left her with just Genzebe.

Most nights she cried herself to sleep, dreaming he came back and asked her to come with him, and she agreed. She dreamt they left her father's mansion and went to live in the slums. She noticed she was happier living with him and her three babies no matter how small the apartment was. When she woke up and realize it was a dream, she cried More wetting her pillows.

Months turned into years and Eghe gave up hope. Ikay had left her, even her parents gave up searching for him. They couldn't believe how strong hearted Ikay could be towards their daughter who he claimed to love, how he outsmarted them.

Eghe became a shadow of herself, she stopped eating, she wasn't in tune with things happening around her anymore, she stopped going to work.

Mr Luckett came home one day and found Eghe starring at nothing.

"Eghosa Briana luckett, do you want to kill yourself?" He asked her.

Eghe blinked noticing her father standing beside her. Genzebe who was four years old at the time stopped playing around her mom and went to meet her granpa.

"Eghe, you can't continue like this, you have to live for your remaining child" he told her resting his hands on Eghe's shoulders, trying to comfort her.

"Daddy", she began, the pent-up tears in her eyes finally falling, "its not easy, I miss them so much"

She cried easily nowadays. Eghe was never the one to cry, she once said crying was for the weak. After Ikay left her and Genzebe, she thought otherwise for tears came easily and it was a way of relieving herself from her pent-up emotions.

"I know you miss them" Her father consoled her. He became her backbone, he told her Ikay will one day return . She lost a lot of weight and he didn't like it. For ones in Mr Luckett life, he didn't have a solution to his baby girl's problem.

Eghe decided to join her faith with her father's hoping for the best. In the process of hoping for the best she showered all the love and care she could muster on Genzebe. Her parents too weren't left out. They showered Genzebe with so much love and care. At some point Eghe got scared how pampered Genzebe was.

*****end of flash back*****

Eghe was in her office, signing some papers when Genzebe school called.

"Your daughter was in a fight, the principal would like to see you about her new development" the woman on the other side of the phone said.

Eghe was almost done with her work for the day, she was hoping to pick up Genzebe and they go have some mother and daughter time, then go shopping afterwards. But with this call, shopping and bonding time was cancelled. Eghe thought.

Recently Eghe noticed Genzebe's behavior. She wasn't accommodating, wasn't friendly and was outrightly rude. She agreed they had pampered her a little too much, and mentally note that they were going to change some things before things got out of hands.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry" Eghe apologized as she stormed into the principal's office. There was a little holdup on my way down here" she apologized taking the vacant seat.

She noticed Genzebe sitting at the far end of the principal's office sulking. Then there was another girl, Susan. Susan was Genzebe's  friend. She too in another corner but not sulking just looking sorry. Susan's mother sat at the other chair next to her, her eyes throwing dagger at Eghe.

"What's going on" Eghe asked after a long silence.

"Genzebe here", the principal began "was in a fight with her best frien.......".

"She is not my best friend" Genzebe cut the principal off.

"Zebe" Eghe called surprised. Genzebe was fond of talking when elders were. She glared at her daughter who went back sulking.

The principal, who too was taken aback by Genezebi reaction regained herself and continued.

"We have this new student, who kind of became the new little bee, like the apple of everyone's eyes in Genzebe's class" the principal smiled

"I don't think your daughter is pleased with that, since she used to be the bumblebee of the class"

"So what's the problem and how is Susan connected" Eghe asked getting bored already.

"The prinicipal is getting there" Susan's mom chipped in irritated by Eghe's manners.

"The newcomer wanted to be friends with Genzebe here, your daughter refused. she went ahead to Susan and Susan accepted". The principal paused wondering if she made sense and thinking what kinda things made kids fight.

The principal continued "Genzebe found out about Susan friendship with this newcomer and called Susan all sort of unspeakable names, where she learnt such words from, we would never know" the principal finished.

"Madam" Susan's mother began, Eghe had to turn towards her, she wanted to be out of here. Was this why she was called down.

"Your child called my daughter, daughter of a poor man, a traitor, an opportunist, jumping from one rich kid to another rich kid"  Susan's mother narrated bitterly. "after so many name calling from your daughter here, my child had to fight"

Fight, Genzebe fight. Was it physical??
Eghe kept her thoughts to herself and kept on listening to Susan's mother squabbling.

"Madam please train your daughter well, teach her some manners, teach her how not to unleash her filthy mannerism outside, its disgusting"

With that Eghe stood up, finally fed up. "Ma" she called to Susan's mom trying not to escalate the whole situation. "we're very sorry, it would never repeat itself again"

"It better not" Susan's mother snorted.

Eghe faced the principal who was watching them from under her glasses "This will never happen again. If that's all I will like to take my child home"

She motioned to Genzebe who stood up sluggishly and walked towards her mother. "Thank you principal" Eghe said as they left the principal office.

Thanks to y'all for keeping this real for me. I really do appreciate.
