I was right.

Mrs O'Brien wasn't going to take any disciplinary actions. She had this fondly look my grandma always had on when I did something bad and wouldn't want to tell my parents about it. She was obviously fond of Eghe, though she was trying to look tough which ended up being a sorry excuse of a show.

"This is a work environment and you need to swear to me this lovey dovey act would stop" she repeated for the hundredth time.

"It will stop__it will never repeat itself" Eghe replied for the hundredth time. But this time she went closer to Mrs O'Brien and held her hands.

"You sure" the elderly woman asked looking deep into Eghe's eyes.

"Yes ma" Eghe replied while dropping her head down.

Couldn't  she tell Mrs O'Brien wasn't going to breathe a word. Was she that scared.

Mrs O'Brien turned towards me, she had left her swivel chair when we came in. "You have to be very careful, someone else would have walked into you guys and it would have been a different story" she said sternly. Less I forget, for a hundredth time. As usual I remained silent.

She cleared her throats trying to look serious. "You have been dismissed" she informed us.

"Thank you, thank you" Eghe kept repeating.

I furrowed my brows as we walked towards the door, Eghe all happy.

"Mr Omoruyi" Mrs O'Brien called "can I get some minutes of your time".

Eghe froze mid step, she turned sideways facing me, eyes wide as saucer, then turned back towards Mrs O'Brien confusion evident in her eyes.

"Calm down Mz Luckett" Mrs O'Brien reassured "we have something important to talk about, which concerns his culinary skills" she finished and rewarded Eghe with a wide smile.
An Oh! formed on Eghe's lips.

"Good luck" Eghe whispered to me as she existed the office.

There was an Awkward silence in the air following Eghe's Exit.

"Ehn" I began, going closer to Mrs O'Brien who had reclaimed her seat after Eghe exited. "Is there something really important to discuss" I asked knowing fully well she wasn't going to talk about my culinary skills.

"Nope" she replied sternly.

"Okayyyy" I stressed feeling uncomfortable by her sudden turn of behavior.

"Mr Omoruyi___"

"Just call me Ikay" I cut her off.

"Okay Ikay, I believe you're the rational one here" she stated, swinging her chair from side to side my eyes following the movement.

"Eghe is far gone" she continued with a sober look on her face, I lifted an eyebrow motioning for her to make me understand. "I believe you're in a better place to curtail whatsoever is going on between you two" she paused.

She is into you, far into you" Mrs O'Brien continued in a rush "she wouldn't keep to the promise she made here today__she was practically undressing you with her eyes" she whispered-yelled.

I gave a cocky grin "You need to stay far away from her" and the grin disappeared.

And who are you to tell me what to and what not to do.

"I'm the best person to tell you this" Mrs O'Brien replied me like she just heard my thoughts.

"I don't think Mr Luckett will be pleased about all these" she said like she was telling a big secret.

All these while I kept mute listening to her, trying to be the gentleman my momma raised me to be. I was getting bored and   aroused. I needed to be with Eghe, I needed her more than I ever thought___

"I can't stop you from having feelings for each other" the elderly lady's voice brought me back from my aroused thought. "I will keep my end of the bargain, that is keep mute about your shenanigans__, but if you love your job, I will advice you stop all these"

Eghe was like a challenge now. Obviously nobody wants the kitchen boy close to their golden girl. I smiled to myself. I knew I would be more determined now. I was that kind of guy when you say do not touch, I touch. Do not go I would go. I knew there was no turning back now.

"Thank you very much" I finally voiced out, I was ready to take my leave,  I have heard enough and I needed to be out of this office. I turned around and started taking slow steps towards the door.

"Use your head boy, I know you ain't into her like she is into you" I stopped in my tracks

And who are you to know what I'm into and what am not.

"I know these things" she said. I guessed my facial expression must have warranted that reply.

I smiled brightly trying to cover how i felt before replying her. "I like her a lot".

The expression on Mrs O'Brien face showed she didn't believe me.

"I wouldn't want to jeopardize her relationship with her father neither will I wanna jeopardize my chances of working here" I paused trying to figure out what she would want to hear at that moment.

"So I will do as you have said" I lied.

I saw a wide smile spread across Mrs O'Brien's face. She got up from her swivel chair and walked up to me.

"I knew you were the rational thinking one. Good choice boy" she said while giving me a pat on my shoulder.

"You have been dismissed"

I dismissed myself long before now.

This chapter came because I was kinda sad, I needed something I could Chanel my energy into, so this chapter.
