CHAPTER THIRTY

Dedicated to Iyanuoluwa-Temi

Third person POV.

When Genzebe got home, she related the incident at school to her mom, weeping bitterly.

Eghe and her parents where all in the large sitting room watching BBC news,

"I want my daddy" Genzebe kept saying. "I want my sister and my brother too".

Eghe was sad and became frustrated, she was getting tired of Genzebe latest attitude of asking after her Dad.

Eghe thought about visiting Genzebi's school just to tell the principal to change her Daughter's class or better still change the new girls class. She couldn't keep up with "I want my daddy" all the time.

"Allow your mother be" Eghe's mom told Genzebe "You're stressing her out". Sarah Luckett said. She could see in her daughters eyes how this affected her. She hated Ikay more for making her daughter and granddaughter pass through this.

"You caused why my daddy left me" Genzebe replied. Silence fell, Every one stayed frozen. Genzebe got up and ran towards her room muttering. "My daddy would have been with us now if not for you grandma". When Genzebe was five she over heard her crying mom blaming her grandmother over her father leaving, she was in the study room when the argument broke out.

The sitting room stayed quiet after Genzebe retreat. The sound of the door bell brought them all out of whatsoever they were all thinking. Mr Luckett who was quiet all through stood up and headed towards his room, on his way he called the maid to go get the door.

Amaka went to the door, as she opened the door her eyes flew open, she screamed and ran back towards the shared sitting room.

"Oga don come, oga don come" her happiness vibrating round the house, even Genzebe who was sobbing in her room heard Amaka's chants she came down sluggishly to come see what was happening.

"Which oga" Mrs Luckett asked irritated by Amaka's screams.

Amaka could not contain her excitement, she couldn't even answer her pay master, because she was so happy for small madam.

She kept pointing, "small madam oga" she told them, at that Eghe heard his voice.

She pinched herself, it wasn't a dream, she got up and ran to the door.

Ikay's POV

"Can we come in".

I had to talk. I noticed no one was understanding the maid. Excitement was stopping her from properly explaining herself. Obosa and Oghosa held unto my hands so tightly.

I stood at the very house I told myself eight years ago i was never going return to, But look at me now. had to come over to see the people I verge never to lay my eyes on because my sister had to choose Genzebe school of all schools for Obosa and Oghosa. I'm beginning to think she had all this planned out.

I returned back to Benin two months ago, it wasn't by choice. My father was opening a new pharmaceutical branch in Benin and it was the proper thing that I'd be the one to head it since it was just starting off. During the cause of putting things in place for our new company I asked my sister Shirley to pick schools for the kids while I busied my self with setting the new place up. And the little deepshit chose Genzebe school.

Obosa came to me on two different occasions complaining about a particular Genzebe Omoruyi, who shared same surname with her, but walks around the school like a queen and was selfish with her friends. it couldn't be the same Genzebe I thought at first, there was definitely so many Genzebe in Benin. Who else would bear such ridiculous name. My brain already defeated me.

"Daddy she does not want to be friends with me, and she doesn't want me to be friends with people she is friends with, what kind of a person is she?" my baby girl lamented.

Before everything becomes too complicated I had to bring them over. They should come know their mother, since we would be in Benin for a very long time. Chances that I would run into Eghe was very large. I swallowed my pride and came over.

Eghe standing in from of me brought me out of my thought, she was starring at me like she'd seen a ghost. She was looking not a day older than the last time I saw her eight years ago. I took my time to fill her in.

Her eyes, there was something in her eyes. her eyes was the only thing that wasn't right in her physique. The organ was replaced by a deep eye bag, the sparkle once associated with her eyes was gone. Eghe wasn't happy and she'd be having a lot of Sleepless nights.

Why? Why would she have sleepless night? She always wanted to be with her parents. So why the unhappiness?.

We stood starring at each other for a very long time. Eghosa Jr, sorry Genzebe who was a mini version of Eghe spoke. She sounded like Shirley.

"This is the girl I was talking about" Genzebe informed Eghe, Obosa saying same almost simultaneously with her sister Genzebe.

Oghosa who wasn't much of a talker finally spoke. "Dad is this mom?" Waiting for my reply.

Genzebe was asking her mom same thing "Mom is this daddy?"
Eghe nodded looking at me, tears gathering in her eyes.

"Daddy" Genzebe screamed and rushed towards me, she flung herself at me. I caught her lifting her, she placed her head on my shoulders "Daddy I have missed you, I missed you so much" my baby girl was crying. She sounded so much like my younger sister Shirley. Love I have never felt before engulfed my heart and I kissed her at the hollow of her neck

I watched as Eghe signaled to Oghosa and Obosa "come" she said softly. She bent to their level and was shedding tears now, muttering "I'm sorry, I'm so so sorry" I immediately felt like a bad person.

I watched as Oghosa cleaned her tears, "don't cry mommy" Obosa said and that distracted Genzebe, who lifted her head from my shoulders and was starring at her mom and siblings.

"Mom, are they my siblings" Genzebe asked struggling to get down from my hold. I kept her down as Eghe replied her.

"This is Isabella" Eghe said holding Obosa's face who looked strangely at her. "And here is Ryan your brother" she introduced them to Genzebe.

"I'm sorry ma" Oghosa said "I'm Oghosa" he corrected his mother.

"And I'm Obosa" Obosa chipped in

"I know" Eghe said softly as she dropped her head. I felt sorry and bad. I wasn't a bad person, but I just couldn't continue the life she wanted.

"Why was I left behind" Genzebe's voice suddenly broke the silence. She stepped back away from me, when I tried to reach out to her.

On cue Mrs Sarah Luckett came, she stood far away watching our awkward reunion.

"Grandma" Genzebe cried "my daddy left me because I was the list liked right? He chose her" she pointed at Obosa "over me"

My heart shattered. Why would she ever say that. I watched as she turned around and ran towards the west wing of their building. My daddy left me. I heard her beautiful voice echo.

Mrs Sarah Luckett finally invited us in.

Media Song: Memories by Maroon 5__ I felt the song was perfect for this chapter been that Genzebe's mood made Eghe remember times with Ikay.
