CHAPTER THIRTY-2WO

Ikay

I could see the hope in her eyes, she wanted them by her side, the realization melted my heart. Through my impulsive thinking I have shattered my family. Obosa and Oghosa had missed growing up with their mother, Eghe had missed the vital part of their lives. This drew me back to her eyes. The eye bags. Genzebe said she cried herself to sleep every night, that explained it all.

"Okay guys" I began as my kids squealed with delight. "Hold on hold on" I told them smiling. Loving how I was pulling the strings here. Even Ej who was standing next to me chipped in a please quietly. I looked at her beautiful face, just like her Mother's and sounds like my sister, what a wonderful combo.

"While don't they come spend the weekend here with you" I directed this to Eghe "They didn't come prepared to spend the night__Friday it is"

The kids all cheered.

"Dad you're the bestest" Obosa said. I furrowed my brows to that. Shirley has finally colonized Obosa with her kind of English.

"I knew my Dad will cave in" Oghosa said proudly he never says no to me".

I watched how fondly Eghe watched them discuss.

"Ej why don't you go join your siblings" I told Ej who also stood watching her other twins talking to her grandpa. She seemed skeptical about joining them, but I urged her on.

"They're your siblings baby, they have been dying to meet you". She smiled widely at me and went to join them as Eghe's father lead them away. I listen as they all chanted happily.

" So we're sisters" Obosa's soft voice echoed down the hall.

"Thank you" Eghe's said softly.

I turned to look at her, her hands folded around her breast.

"For what" I asked

"For allowing them stay the weekend" she said dropping her gaze. This was new, Eghe wasn't the one to shy away from things.

"But they're your kids too"

She nodded like I was telling her something she had no ideas about.

Third person POV

Eghe woke up the following day feeling on top of the world. she finally had a good night rest. She hope to go drop Genzebe in school, she needed to see Ikay again. He found his way into her dreams last night, only this time it was a good dream. This morning she was all bubbling and chanting as she drove her daughter to school. She couldn't remember the last time she felt this way.

"Mum, you look happy today" Genzebe told her mom as they drove through the busy road that would lead to her school.

"Y_es, yes__I'm baby" Eghe replied. Her eyes glittering.

They drove in comfortable silence. Eghe got to the kids school hoping to find Ikay. Obosa and Oghosa ran towards them when they sighted her.

"Mum" they chattered embracing her.

How was your night" Eghe asked both kids as Obosa left her hold to go embrace Genzebe. She smiled softly to herself. The kids where fast becoming friends, and it was beautiful to watch.

"Who dropped you off" Eghe asked her kids who in a minute were already chatting with each other about to ignore her. She wanted to ask about Ikay from the kids but she didn't.

The driver" Obosa and Oghosa chorused.

The driver huh!

"Bye Mum" bye Mummy they said and turned their backs, heading towards their classes. Eghe watched fondly. Genzebe and Obosa made her smile. Her girls.

Before Ikay left with the kids last night, Genzebe and Obosa became best friends and talked about everything. Eghe got a lot of info from Genzebe who due to excitement over her father's return slept in her mother's room last night.

"Mummy, I love Daddy, I love Obosa, I Love Oghosa" Genzebe chattered happily.

"What about me?" Eghe asked in feigned disappointment.

"I love you so much Mummy" giving her mum a very big kiss on her cheeks

"Mummy, Obosa said she grew up with my other grandparents" The reporter in Genzebe kicked in. Eghe knew her daughter was about to start spilling. They were gist buddies and Genzebe had no filter when it came to sharing gist with her mother.

"Hmm, is that so" Facing Genzebe, Eghe urged her daughter to continue.

"Obosa said she only got to know Oghosa last year"

Not giving out her inner turmoil, and her utter dislike to that particular information, Eghe continued to listen to Genzebe dishing out information.

Obosa said Dad's sister, Aunty Shirley will be coming next week to see me"

"You" Eghe asked. Wondering why Ikay sister would come see Genzebe.

"Yes Mummy, me" she answered happily.

Mummy she also said grandpa and grandma looks rich__I told her we are " Eghe smiled at that "But Obosa said Dad's richer" Genzebe relayed confused.

That Info stopped Eghe on her thinking track.

"Mum is dad rich?" Genzebe asked, confusion in her young face "Grandma said Dad is a low-life pauper who refuses help"

Eghe quickly sat upright, holding her daughters hands. Genzebe's searching her mom's face for answer.

"Promise me Zebe" Eghe began pleadingly. She knew her daughter, this information may get to Ikay if she doesn't contain it now. she didn't think she could bear the outcomes if such derogatory words gets to Ikay. And she didn't want her mother in the middle of her marriage any more. If there was still a marriage.

"Don't ever tell your father about that" Eghe pleaded and hope her daughter understood the gravity of what she just said.

"Did you tell Obosa that?" Eghe asked.

"No Mummy " Genzebe answered softy.

"Good girl, Eghe smiled. Keep that info to yourself"

*******************

Friday came real fast.
Eghe was feeling extremely excited today. Today her children will be coming home with her. she had taken the day off just to make the rooms they would stay comfortable enough, she took her time to prepare the food they would eat when they arrive.

She even didn't bother going to drop off Genzebe in school. The excitement of being around all her kids was taking the better part of her. Richard dropped off Genzebe in school earlier and came with a news from Ikay. He asked her to be in the kids school thirty minutes before the close of the day. The kids closes 1:30 on Friday, so she knew she had to be in school by 1:00. she smiled. She has been smiling more often. Since Ikay and her kids showed up on Wednesday she found peace.

After applying the last touch of her Zaron makeup, Eghe glanced at her water resistance wrist watch. It was almost 1 'O' clock. She hurriedly went to her bedstand and grabbed her car keys. She checked herself one last time in her vanity mirror, liking what she saw she whistled.

"Girl yo' back" she told herself smiling.
Over the past eight years she didn't take her dressing seriously, in the process losing touch with the fashion world. She was good with kids Fashion because of Genzebe.

Flying her hallway stairs two at a time, Eghe got to her BMW and drove straight to her children school feeling overly excited and low-key shy.
When she got to the kids school Eghe found Ikay already waiting. He was chanting with a female who Eghe guessed was also a parent. Eghe impulsively checked her time.

What the heck! Was this how parent come in time on Friday.. It was just 1' o clock for fuck sake..

Eghe parked her BMW close to the Barbros they were both relaxing on. She turned off the engine and came down while locking the doors. Eghe walked towards them.

"Hi" she greeted.

"Hello Mz Luckett" the female parent who happened to be the financial secretary of the school PTA Miss Ogbeide replied. She was a young single mother in her late 20s.

Eghe noticed Ikay lifting an eye brow hearing Ms Luckett.
"You're Ms Luckett now" he asked Eghe , leaving a confused look on Miss Ogbeide's and an embarrassed look on Eghe's face.

Eghe looked up at him trying to figure what was going on through his mind. She couldn't tell what he was thinking because he smiled afterwards. Giving Eghe an image of a freshly baked cookies. He was wearing a cooperate white long-sleeve with the sleeve rolled to his elbow and the two first button undone on a navy blue pant trousers. Why won't miss Ogbiede stick close to him. She thought.

They both kept peering at her. "Excuse me ma'am" Ikay voiced out. Eghe watched Miss Ogbeide moving aside, she was resting on Ikay's passenger side door. Ikay opened his vehicle and brought out the kids night bags. Eghe was still starring at Ikay's vehicle when he handled the night bags to her.

"Thanks" she told him and headed towards her own BMW

"Nice meeting you" Ikay said to Miss Ogbeide and followed Eghe to her vehicle. He assisted her in opening the car door as she pressed the automatic luck. Eghe carefully placed Obosa and Oghosa night bags in the passenger side of the car. Afterwards they stood for like a year gazing at each other, waiting for who to talk first.

"I was hoping we could go out tomorrow" Ikay broke the silence.

"What about the kids" was what flew out of Eghe's mouth "who is going to look after them"

Ikay raised a curious eye brow at her.

"Okay" she replied biting her lips

"I will pick you up at 8pm tomorrow, we need to talk" Ikay informed her, checking his Rolex watch "I need to go" Ikay finished softly. He stared at her for a moment longer, his pupil dilated. Eghe for a moment thought he was going to kiss her. She impulsively Licked her lips, her breath caught in her lungs.

"Wouldn't you say goodbye to the kids" she asked after a while.

"They would live" Ikay replied her smiling "By the way, I saw them this morning" he turned around and strolled towards his Black Mercedes Barbros.

Eghe gazed at his retrieving back, already missing him. He got into his vehicle and drove off without another glance.

How rich was this guy. I couldn't wait to hear his story. Eghe thought.

"Do you know Ikay Omoruyi" Miss Ogbeide's voice brought her out of her daze.

"Yes, he is my husband" Eghe replied lustfully.
