the thunder roared triumphantly
as i took your hand into mine
and told you to trust me

i ran outside
dragging you behind me
into the screaming storm

you shouted, alarmed
and i grinned
as the rain spilled from the heavens

together
we melted
and became the storm

your gaze was electric
striking me like lightning
that i dared to touch

my shouts of joy became the thunder
it shook the earth
and rattled the bones of everything that had ever lived

our storm
was enough to decimate cities
to destroy everything

our winds howled
and our lightning started fires
and our thunder knocked down houses
and our rain flooded the world
until only we remained

and then
we were so powerful
that we destroyed ourselves
and became
