Chapter Two
Steve's POV
I pressed my index finger on the small earphone in my left ear. The lines were cracked, i couldn't reach Wanda or Vision. We'd been separated two hours ago and day was finally breaking, and had been chasing after Storm all night but hadn't caught her yet.
"Vision? Vision, do you copy?" I said for the thousandth time, yet no response.
The city was turned inside out. Storm was fast, sources said she used electrical charges to quicken her pace. She'd stolen a very important intelligence file right under Maria Hills' nose, now S.H.I.E.L.D wanted us on her trail .
It'd been six months since she broke out from prison. No one knew anything about her, where she came from or what she really wanted from The Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D. The little information we had on her came from Vision.
Somehow, she had fried Vision's memory and we ended up lost and separated in Illinois. Four years ago, Storm was held captive by the U.S Government for blowing up thirty Military Choppers for reasons only she knew of. Fury said the prison that held her was secured with rubber. We all heard Storm hated rubber but how she broke out was still a mystery.
"Captain?" a familiar voice spoke through my earphone.
I pressed my finger on it gently to hear more clearly.
"Vision!!. Vision, where are you? " I asked, the heavy wound on my right leg made it difficult for me to walk, so i limped.
"I found Wanda. Storm had her trapped in some kind of powerful electromagnetic field but she's okay. We're making our way back to you, just stay put. I already contacted Barton, they're sending in the Quinjet." He said.
It was such a relief to know that they were both alive. Storm had knocked the living daylight out of us. What surprised me the most was how she moved around in a black mask. Storm wasn't the kind of villain you'd see with evil makeup, black spandex and complicated weapons. No, she wore jeans and sleeves and boots and ran around in a black mask yet she sees perfectly well.
An hour later, the heavy humming of the Quinjet drew nearer, it landed a few metres away from where i sat in a demolished bank. The ride back to the Avengers Tower was quiet but ended up ruined when Tony's voice sounded over the speaker .
I looked over Storm's file to try and not listen to Tony's jabbering, the file was empty but two tiny words in blue ink caught my attention - Brooklyn, New York.
Whoever this girl was, she was definitely a native of my hometown and that was something, i hoped.
Wanda was unconscious but Vision said she was going to be fine, the electromagnetic radiations had dampened her powers. I didn't understand how, but i was just grateful she was okay.
