Chapter Thirty Seven

Ellesmere's POV

Director Fury introduced us to some new recruits for SHIELD, three siblings from Argentina, Jacob Arrows, Brenda Adrian and Jose Banning. Brenda didn't speak English and was an expert in hand combat. The youngest girl, Jose, had a brain like a steel trap. She was good at technicalities, computer hacking, anything keys and wires except the piano. I really admired her.

Her brother, Jacob, was to die for. I could have sworn Wanda made googly eyes at him when Fury introduced him to us. I admitted to staring the first time we met, he had eyes like a transparent ocean, they were blue green, I couldn't even tell if they were actually blue or green. He had an angelic face, with a nose like a sloppy hill but more attractive. He was skilled at weapon handling and hand combat including Ju-Jitsu. Clint wouldn't drop the issue of me dating an agent of SHIELD since we got off the Quinjet four days after my initiation.

"As long as I said so, you have to do so! "He said as we walked side by side into the Tower. The others were still at SHIELD. I had training with Widow in a few hours and I needed to be ready, Clint had offered to help me practice-fight before my actual training so we'd both left.

"I seriously don't need a boyfriend. I mean, that's just a waste of time. "I defended as we headed to the weapons storage.

He faked a sad laugh, "Cause you've got Thor now? Believe me, he is not gonna marry you. You need to have another someone asides your father, you know! ."

"I know that. But as of right now I don't want to have a date. If I wanted to chill I'd hang out with you guys, that's why we're a team, right? And besides, y'all are the best dates I could have, you and Tony, Steve, Bruce, Rhodey,Peter and Vision. The girls are a drag on hangouts. "

He snickered and tucked a hand in his jeans pocket then placed his free hand on the scan bar, it flickered twice then Friday welcomed us in.

"Okay, I agree with you but we're not gonna marry you either. That's the ugly truth. " I laughed at that. Clint was always straight with words like Nat. I would've said they'd make a great couple but Nat was an independent Tigress who owned her territory.

He went to another door and turned the lock, it opened to reveal a large spacious room with metal walls and transparent floors. It was completely empty.

"How come I haven't seen this place yet? "I asked strolling into the room. I turned but he wasn't standing at the door anymore, "Clint? "

His answer came from the weapons storage then his head poked through the side of the wide door, "I'm getting some gear! "

I nodded then turned around to inspect the room. It was oddly cold but that was probably because it was empty and had been closed for a long time. He came back in with his bow and arrow and a long sword that had a golden hilt and some weird markings on its blade.

I raised an eyebrow, "Please don't tell me you stole Excalibur! ."

He threw the sword at me, I caught it and was surprised at how weightless it was. "Awesome! "

"It's not Excalibur. Something like that, but I got it from an old friend. No one has used it for the longest time but seems we have a skilled swordsman now so she'll be needing it. "

"So, I'll use a sword and you'll use a bow and arrows? " He nodded. "That doesn't make any sense."

"Why don't we just start training first! "He said then went to the control panel that I didn't really notice by the side of the door. He pushed a few buttons and the door jammed shut and immediately, the room became some kind of virtual reality show.

The spacious room began unfolding like a scrabble board, it became wider and then a globe appeared in front of me and Clint with several red dots on different parts of it. I looked up at Clint in confusion.

"The red marks are the places we've trained in, virtually, and now you get to pick a destination since this is your first time. Spin the globe."

I spun it really fast as Clint walked over to me, the twirling seemed to make him a little dizzy but I saw perfectly well. I touched a spot on the the globe and it stopped abruptly.

"Hmph, South Africa!! Quite challenging. Initiate Virtual Destination! "He said and the room twirled into a wide vegetation. I could feel the breeze in my hair, the sounds of birds chirping and elephants trumpeting was very real. I opened my mouth in surprise as a bunch of Zebras trotted past me, some monkeys swooped on a large tree and a koala stuck to another scrunching it's nose up and down.

Just then, something hot flew right by my ear. I tilted a little to the right then turned to look at what had flown by me. It was a burning ball. Then, I watched the lovely vegetation going up in flames as an army of human looking robots marched towards Clint and I. They were armed with all kinds of weapons including burning balls.

"You had to give me a sword! " I said turning to Clint with an alarmed look on my face but he was calm and had his bow and arrow positioned. He shut one eye and shushed me.

I threw the sword on the grassy ground but it clanked on contact with the floor reminding me that everything I saw was fake. I pulled out my sword pen from my back pocket. The shirt I wore began sticking to my body because of the heat, I couldn't take it off and so I focused on getting air around myself.

Soon, a cool wind blew all around. Clint put down his bow and turned to me with a "Seriously? " look on his face. "This is training. You don't get to relax or enjoy at all !"

His tone was quite serious but I knew it was all for the training purpose. The robots were still quite far and so chatting seemed to be the best way to pass time till they got real close.

"Stop the wind! "He ordered, I shook my head. "Aren't you hot? ." He shook his head then poked me in the rib, I flinched with a giggle and lost focus causing the wind to stop blowing. I raised an eyebrow, confused at how that had happened but Clint looked amused and had a satisfied smile on his face.

"Seems you're very ticklish and I take that as a weakness. "

He looked at my hand and placed a hand on his waist losing his serious composure as he did. "You are so unserious. You'd rather use a pen? What's that for? Pick up Excalibur! "

"Ah Ha. I knew it was Excalibur! " I said and he groaned frustratingly. I had no idea why I was always being so sloppy with important stuff but I kinda enjoyed frustrating people.

I clicked the pen and it grew into a spear crackling with the fiercest thunder. It almost looked like a lightening bolt in my hand. Clint backed up slightly as I twirled it around noticing that the robots were almost ten feet away from us.

"That's better than Excalibur! "I heard Clint mutter and then we both attacked. The robots were a lot stronger than they looked. It took up to thirteen minutes to destroy one.

By the time we were done with the training, I'd broken several bones in my back including my kneecap. The virtual stuff cleared up and I slumped on the floor while Clint opened the door snickering at me for falling on my face.

Nat walked in just then with her tasers tucked in the sides of her black spandex pants. "Ready for your training? "

My eyes almost popped out of their sockets, "You mean, ready for my death? I just had one with Clint. Can I at least catch my breath? "

Nat shook her head and held up her fists. "You don't get a break. The only time you get to rest is when you're actually dead "

I groaned and stood up and just then she threw a punch at me sending me flying halfway across the room.

"It's a no powers training remember? "She said coming towards me. I nodded and stood up in time for her to swoop me across the room again. I landed on the hard wall and fell to the cold floor.

"That means you gotta shove that empathetic skill of yours in your back pocket as well. "I said in a raspy tone.

Nat gave me that intimidating twitch of a smile as she charged towards me again. I caught her fist and kneed her in the gut then kicked her side powerfully. She fell backwards and immediately swung back to her feet.

"I'm guessing you were able to do that cause you're not half as tired as I am. "I said. I turned to face the door, Steve, Clint, Thor, Tony and Peter stood by it, with their arms folded watching us fight.

"No fair, you brought an audience? "I asked then felt Widow's boots replace my left kidney as I jammed my back on the wall again.

"Good kick, Nat! "Peter commended. I shook my head and stood back up. She threw another punch, I leaned back with my hands aimed for the floor then lifted my legs up catching her fist in between my legs, I flipped causing her wrist to snap violently. She yelled and retreated holding her broken arm.

I stood up slowly watching her to see if she was really hurt. It might be an ordinary training but I didn't want to hurt her for real. She lifted her arm slowly but it just fell back lifelessly. She glared at me and for a moment I thought, she was going to kill me for hurting her.

She used one hand to do a forward flip. Five flips and one kick and I was sprawled out on the floor with a bleeding jaw. She had taken it personal.

She ran towards me but got caught up in something that prevented her from moving further. It was Peter's web. She turned to him with her arms spread apart.

"Give her a minute to get up okay? She's still booting! "He said. I was on my knees and it was my turn to spread my arms in confusion.

"Booting? "Steve asked retracting his head slightly without looking at Peter.

"Yeah. That's what I say when someone gets hit in a fight and still hasn't got up after fifteen seconds."

I didn't see it but I knew Tony and Steve had rolled their eyes.

"You make up the dumbest words, Parker! "Clint deadpanned then broke into a laugh that confused everyone.

Widow came to help me up as I was still on my knees. It was then I realized she hadn't taken the broken wrist personal, she was only being serious about the training which didn't last twenty minutes. I was grateful. It seemed like Widow's kicks were made of Vibranium like Steve's shield.

"Have you been drinking, Hawkins? "Tony asked throwing an arm across my shoulders as we all walked out of the room. I shrugged his hands off without him noticing as he was too interested in knowing why Clint had laughed. I waltzed over to Thor, he smiled satisfactorily and wrapped his large arm around my back.

"You did okay! "He whispered using his other hand to wipe the blood off my wounded jaw.

I nodded and gave a weak smile as it hurt so many parts of my body. Just then, I felt my heart beating too fast. It was very uncomfortable, I turned to look at Thor. He seemed to be focused on something.

"Do you feel that? "He asked placing a hand on the left side of his chest.

The beating became an uncontrollable shake that fired like tiny needles through my body.

"Steve? Something's wrong! "I said with Thor's hand leaving my shoulders as he used both of them to support himself.

"What is it? "Steve asked smelling danger immediately and at the same time coming over to support me as I was halfway on my knees.

"I don't know but I think we can both feel it!" I said struggling to steady my wild heart beat.

"Ow! "Steve said withdrawing his arm from mine. I looked at him questioningly. "You zapped me! And it hurt!. "

"I'm sorry I didn't mean to. . ." another spark flew from Thor's hand towards Tony.

"Hey watch it, Point Break! "Tony fired in an alarmed tone.

Soon, sparks became currents as both our powers went out of control. It became impossible to touch me or Thor because the amount of electricity around us was enough to kill.

"I think we need to call Jane. I have a strong feeling there's someone using the Orb the wrong way! "Nat said pulling out her phone. Just then, Thor slumped to the floor almost lifelessly.

The lightening around him had died down completely but he was quickly turning white in the face.

"DADDY! " I yelled going to reach for him then felt something like a cord snap in my head and I blacked out too.
