Chapter Thirty

We've made it this far guys. Yay us!! Thanks for the follow up and votes and comments, wouldn't have made it this far without your support. I am thrilled. This chapter took me a lot of time to put together. Hope you enjoy it.

PS -an emotional chapter for Elles people.

Ellesmere's POV

I could have sworn I'd seen such patterns before but I couldn't quite remember where. It was probably from my childhood but my memory was a fuzzy blur.

"You know how to open it? "Clint asked coming toward me.

"Yeah but you guys need to back up a little." I said. Hulk growled but still moved backwards. Peter almost fell back down to the ground but Widow was quick to hold him.

Come stand over here and place your legs on the blue rocks, your fingers on the top rocks. Okay sweetie, now drop the thunder. A voice said in my head. I had no idea who it was but it did sound reassuring and o felt a strong sense of Deja Vu.

I stepped on the blue rocks with my legs apart, then sent a charge to each one, they glowed a bright green then I placed two fingers on the hollow points in the rocks above me.

Suddenly, I felt the rocks underneath my legs rotating. A large ray of light shone from under me as I got sucked underground but just before then, I felt something stick to my hand.

"Elles?, Current?, Peter ? "I heard Clint call from above. I fell hard on a rocky ground as a wave of dust covered me. Someone groaned beside me, I turned to look at whoever it was. His red and blue suit shone dimly in the dark cave. The opening had closed immediately it opened but Peter was quick enough to follow me in.

I could hear Hulk's distant roar and the light tapping of feet. I stood up slowly, I had dislocated a bone in my back. It hurt badly.

"Peter? "I called looking behind me but he had already stood up brushing off the dirt from his shoulders.

I raised my brows at him in a "you okay? " manner which I didn't think he saw but he nodded to my surprise.

I lit up my body, the cave became a bright blue. I pressed my earphones and spoke into it. "It's okay, Nat. We're fine down here. We'll just get the Orb and come back out."

But I didn't really know how we were going to get out. The cave was empty but there was a long tunnel in front of us.

"I don't have the tracker or else this would have been a lot easier. "I said.

"So we just keep walking until we see the light? "Peter asked as we walked further into the tunnel.

"If there is any light at all. "I said chuckling softly. At a point, my EC began to flicker.

Peter gazed at me, "What's happening? "

I shook my head trying my best to keep it on but a force around was causing it to go off. "I don't know but I think something's causing this. "

We both looked around for anything at all but the cave was just plain empty with muddy rocks piled up in large heaps at every corner and the sound of our voices echoing even when we talked in whispers.

Eventually, my EC went off totally. I felt Peter take my hand in the darkness. "The last thing we'd want is splitting up without knowing it. "He said. His suit was surprisingly firm against my palm.

He had been without the mask ever since but then I heard a whirring sound. I guessed it covered his face then. We walked some more groping around with our free hand in the dark.

"I wonder if I can get some lights from my suit! " He said then a female voice spoke from his suit.

"LED lights activated. "The female said and immediately, a few parts of his suit lit up with the brightest light, I couldn't even look at him.

"Was that Friday? "I asked shielding my face with my hands.

"Reduce brightness! "He said then the light dimmed a little, enough for me to look at him. "I guess I can get lights outta my suit. "He said. We continued walking until we got to a turn. We took the turn but it still seemed like a long journey ahead as more turns kept revealing themselves.

"seen it yet? "Widow asked through my earphones. "No, not yet, this tunnel is a freaking maze, we've been turning and turning but it's just endless. "I said frustrated from the fruitless trek, my legs were already becoming wobbly.

"Clint says to make our way back. It's almost 3:00am" Peter said turning to look back briefly. "Elles? "he called quietly. I turned, "What is it? ". I noticed he was looking up. He walked with his finger faced up pointing at something on the rocky roof above.

I stared with my mouth partly open, "Those are patterns too!"

He tumbled and stuck upside down on the high rocky ceiling as he investigated the patterns. His mask pulled away from his face"I think it's the same as the ones outside but it needs fingerprints."

I spoke into my earphones ,"Nat, we're onto something, i'll get back to you as soon as we know what it is! Peter, how do I get up? "I asked looking up at him as he hung perfectly glued to the rocks. I kinda envied him, but I didn't have webs in my hands.

"I'll help, just stretch out your hand! "He said which I did, he let out a string of web, it caught around my wrist then slowly, he pulled me up. He definitely was a lot stronger than he looked. He had one hand stuck to the roof and another hoisting me up.

I was halfway up when he finally jerked the rope causing me to yelp but just as quickly, he caught me by the waist. I was upside down too, my hair hung downwards and I felt my blood rushing to my head. I was becoming tipsy. It was then I noticed the close proximity between us. I felt his hot breath on my neck and his legs coiled around mine.

I had one of my hands wrapped around his neck while the other stretched out to touch the patterns on the roof. Two fingers to the left, one to the right, two again to the top. The cave vibrated just then causing Peter to lose balance. I shut my eyes and tightened my grip around his neck as we fell but the hard thud to my back never came.

I opened one eye, we were held midair by something, Peter's spider legs had protruded from his back and were stuck fast to the floor.

"It's okay, I gotcha! "He said smiling at me. He carefully laid me down on my back then crawled off giving me a chance to stand up.

"Thank you! "I said taking in a few quick breaths, I had already begun to think of the brain tumor I would have gotten had we landed on the ground. We had been hanging 42 feet high.

"There it is! " he said pointing behind me. I turned sharply and my jaw almost dropped.

There was an opening in the muddy wall that was almost concealed by a strong whirlwind at the far end of the cave with something in it, like a large black eyeball glistening a polished black. The whirlwind was so strong, it whipped my hair mercilessly around my face the minute I turned to look at it. It was twelve diameters long and had the strength of a hurricane, it rotated counterclockwise with speed of about 180 kilometers per hour.

We walked up to it. We'd found the Orb at last but were left with one puzzle -How do we get the bloody thing out?

"It'll suck you in" I said to Peter when I noticed how it dangerously drew rocks and sand that were more than ten feet close to it.

"So, how do we get it out? "Peter asked looking puzzled.

"I don't know. We obviously can't go in and we can't stop the wind, we don't even know what's causing this wind in the first place. "

"How did Jane manage to hide this thing here? "He asked looking up at the vortex of wind.

"I don't think she did this. This might be exactly where she found the Orb. " Then I thought of something, Jane said she'd found the Orb somewhere around Asgard and brought it to Midgard but then there was this memory I tried to recall but couldn't, the Deja Vu I felt when I'd gotten here in the first place.

"I think I know this place! "I muttered under my breath then felt an urge to shut my eyes. I allowed the cold wind blow into my head, ridding me of whatever might distract me, then I felt a sharp sting in my head, time stilled and I recalled what had happened on the 25th day of December in 2002.

"Mummy, where are we going ?"I asked as Jane held my hand leading me through a rocky pathway with a black leather backpack hanging on her back. She wore a Christmas cap with lights, but they were switched off, a black tank top and brown pants. Her brown hair was pleated in two same as mine. I'd been excited about celebrating Christmas but most of all, I was going to see my dad. I hopped happily behind Jane as she occasionally turned to look at me with a smile plastered on her face.

"Are we going to see Daddy? Does daddy live here? "I asked still hopping and almost stumbled on a large muddy rock but Jane held me. She'd promised me at the beginning of the year that my Christmas gift would be special and that if I remained a good girl, she'd give it to me early in the morning. I had been unusually expectant all through the year. I was thinking she'd get me a robot or a new bike but when we got off the plane at 12am on Christmas morning , she said it was about my dad. I couldn't contain my happiness .

We came to a spring then Jane hoisted me up with a rope. We got to a large rock that looked like a mouth of some kind then she had me place both legs on two odd looking stones that looked as if they were splattered with blue paint and then she placed my tiny fingers above on two other rocks. "Okay sweetie, now drop the thunder!" she said with a laugh as she squatted down next to me then wrapped her hands around my tiny waist.

I was five then and using my powers were always a thrill. I charged my feet then the rocks twirled allowing us drop six feet under the ground.

We had walked for a long time, the further we went, the higher the roof got. This actually caught my attention and I stared at it and bumped into Jane without noticing that she'd stopped walking.

She took out a watch then told me to hold out my hands which I did. A white light covered my hands then she told me to point them at something on the roof. I did and she led me towards an opening in the wall far off.

I watched her pull out something from her bag. It looked like a black football to me. She placed it in a raised platform in the opening then squatted in front of me brushing the hair off my face gently.

"Now sweetie, you can't talk to daddy but you can see what he's doing right now okay, I want you to relax. Picture your dad in your mind, pretend he's right in front of you, don't think about anything else. But you also have to know that after today, you won't see your dad anymore until the time is right.Once you use the Orb now, it'll be heavily protected and you might not even remember  today at all." This time, there was a form of sadness in her eyes. "I'm sorry for keeping you away from him but it's for your own good and for his as well. A lot of bad people would come for him and for this" then she pointed at the black football, "They must never know about you and your father, otherwise it'll be very bad for everyone. You'll notice that, you'll be able to go into people's minds after your first real encounter with your father. You'll awaken the Orb again the minute that happens and a lot of bad things would follow but you must promise to keep daddy safe and yourself too." At this point she'd already begun to cry, holding my arms firmly in hers as she wiped off her tears, "I hope that. . .one day, you'll understand everything I've done and you'll forgive me for it."

She stood up after that and I did as I was told. The Orb as she had referred to it, began to crackle with lightning, I felt so cold and so empty, like I was looking in a mirror but with closed eyes then I felt a cool breeze blow through my hair. I opened my eyes and smiled at the view in front of me.

I stood in a large room with bright red curtains and a king sized bed on one end. There were four pretty girls in the room, they wore gold like dresses and held beautiful flower vases in their hands. One held a tray while one played a musical instrument I'd seen on TV once, it was shaped like a bow. There was someone sleeping peacefully on the bed, hidden in the black sheets.

I walked towards the bed and thought the pretty girls would stop me but it was like they didn't even know I was there. I crawled into the bed and found a man. He had a neck length blonde hair like me, with a straight jaw, a young and angelic face and he was shirtless. I watched his chest rise and fall with every breath and listened as he snored quietly.

"Daddy? Daddy, wake up! " I whispered and touched his face but my hands went right through him like a hologram. I tried again and again and again but I couldn't touch him. Tears welled up in my eyes as I said the next words. "Merry Christmas Daddy! "

Then I felt a strong wind pulling me out of the room, I jerked backwards and landed hard on my back then blacked out.

"Elles? Elles? Elles, C'mon open your eyes! "I heard a voice calling. I opened my eyes slowly but my lashes stuck together then I realized I had been crying.

"Are you okay? "Peter asked taking my hand. I looked at him for a long time trying to digest what I'd just seen then I sniffled and shifted my gaze to the Orb.

I rotated my arms around forming a fiery electric ball, it heated up in my palms. I aimed for the whirlwind and threw it in. The wind ricocheted then died down. I walked towards the Orb and lifted it from the platform.

"How did you know that? "Peter asked with a pale expression on his face then he spoke into his comm earphones, "Clint, we got it!"

I stared at the Orb, it was smaller than I remembered but maybe that was because I'd grown. Peter's constant repetition of Clint's name made me look up at him.

"He's not answering! "He said. I pressed my earphones, "Nat? Natasha? Anyone on Comms! "

But there was no reply. I checked the time, it was thirty minutes past five o'clock in the morning. "Why isn't anyone answering? "I asked slightly worried as we hurriedly made our way back to the entrance.

When we got to the spot where we'd come in through, I heard thousands of hearts beating unevenly coming from the surface then I turned to look at Peter. He seemed to notice the grim look on my face.

"What is it? "he asked looking totally worried.

"We're surrounded!! "I said.

So, what did y'all think o this chapter? Another bloody cliffhanger eh?
Its longer than I planned but still okay though. It's action time from here on out and a lot of things are gonna spill. Emotions, blood, water, you name it!! And something else might spill. I wonder what that is. **naughty smile activated **

Anyhoo, I totally forgot the name of Peter Parker's AI system, I believe he used it once in Spiderman :Homecoming  I didn't want to use any other name so I just let it slip. Feel free to remind me if you know her name. I shoulda added it in this chapter but it did slip my mind.

Speaking of things sleeping, I think i'll get some... It's 2:47am in the morning and I haven't caught a wink of sleep.. Good morning y'all or for some people in other parts of the world, Buenos noches or Buenas tardes, whichever works.

Have fun
Lots of love... ❤❤❤
